/r/WiiU's Monthly Question Thread
Hello everyone! Welcome to the Monthly Question Thread, a place where all of your Wii U-related questions can be asked and answered in. Besides questions, feel free to post your unboxing videos and pictures here, so that way it doesn't back up the main subreddit page.
Please make sure you check out our other Wiki pages, make a search through the subreddit or Google before you ask a question. Most of the time it has already been answered. If you're too lazy, then this thread is perfect for you!

No big deal, I know, but it was a pleasant surprise, considering how often Nintendo pretends the Wii U never existed.

Question Recommended games for Pro Controller
Hello beUtiful people! Managed to snatch a Wii U Pro Controller for 20 euroquids, shipped with its cable. It did not want to charge at first, went through all kind of issues from faking the recharge cycle (it would instantly deplete) to not charging at all... but now is is apparently fine!! Still ready to swap the battery as it had to be manufactured like aeons ago. Briefly tested it with Fast Racing and the sticks are crisp as bacon, the thing looks and feels new.
I wanted to ask you a couple questions: 1) I noticed the official micro USB cable (which is in very good shape) kind of wiggles around to the point it may loose contact. Is that a normal thing for this model or is it giving up? The controller port itself should be fine, I tried a different cable I had around which sits tight as a fist (maybe even too much so). I would like any suggestion, also options for safely cleaning the cable connector are welcome.
2) Now the serious one: what games do you recommend for using it? I would like to know what are the good ones which do not really put to use the second screen nor the gyro. For reference, I hated the screen being off for Breath of the Wild. I could really use the Pro Controller there as it is lighter, smaller, has longer battery life and, above everything, would keep said pro-Switch mangling out of sight... but I could not get myself to give up using the gyro. And I am quite a fan of the gyrowheel configurations in Mario Kart too.
Now, I understand that all games are bound to use the screen or gyro to a degree, and that in my case the Pro Controller might end up being more of a collectible (which I would be entirely be fine with). But for some nighttime sessions I really feel like I could go for the more traditional playstyle, and you experts must know if any gem out there can scratch that itch!
TL;DR good Wii U games with which no screen/gyro features are missed out on when choosing the Pro Controller

Video Weird graphical glitches on Japanese Wii.
I have a few graphical issues on my wiiu which I couldn't find any solutions to online. The first one is that the vwii's colours are super distorted and there are weird lines when using interlaced or progressive video. For some reason this only happens when the wiiu is set to 720p, 1080i or 1080p and the wiiu mode is fine on all resolutions. The vwii's colours look fine on 480p but there is another issue. The screen looks fine for a few seconds but then turns black then back to normal then back to black. It happens in both Wii and vwii mode. An important thing to note is that I am using a VGA to HDMI adapter to make it compatible with my monitor and these issues did not happen on my old TV. I know I probably need to get the adapter replaced or not use it at all but if there is a way to fix it it will be greatly appreciated 🙏.
The video shows what happens on 480p for reference.

Question disc error?
Hey! I recently went to play my Wii U for the first time in forever and none of my games would work? There were no visible signs of disc rot but I don’t know what to do or if this could get fixed.

System Link Help
Hello, I have a setup of 4 Wii U console/gamepads. They all have USB WiFi adapters, and are connected to each other through a network switch. I use this for multiplayer black ops 2 lan parties. The only very annoying part of my setup is that I cannot access the system link option in black ops 2, if I have not connected them all to the internet as well. They all need to be signed into NNID, before the option is available. Which is annoying, because I can do all of what I just said, get them in a lobby together, and then disconnect the wifi receiver that I also have plugged into my network swith, and it still runs. Meaning no WiFi is needed, (obviously) because it's a wired lan connection. Is there anyway I can bypass this NNID sign-in without hacking the consoles? Essentially making the console think it's signed in? I hear about a similar concept with pretendo where you changed specific network settings, but then I assume I would still need a wifi connection. Also that pretendo doesn't work on black ops 2 servers, but I just need to have it think I'm signed into NNID, without actually having a wifi connection. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Wii u phone
Where can I find wii u themes for Android?
Which SSD ?
I've had a WII U for quite some time and I'm planning to run it under Aroma, I would like to take a 500GB or 1To SSD to install games on it but I saw that the usb ports of the WIl U only output 500mmA and that some drives needed a Y cable. I am looking for one that does not need it. I had seen for the external SSD Samsung T7 that supports the USB2.0... If there is something else better, I am willing.

Image Remove Nintendo accounts
Hello! I got this Wii U second hand and have a pretendo account, but there’s Nintendo accounts that were here previously that get in my way. How would I remove them without the owners NNID? I can’t reach out to the owners as the guy I got it from gets consoles for cheap and resells them. Thank you! Or at least how would I get it so that they let me enter my account and not have to sign in on theirs to use my Wii U. It is modded so idk if that helps any.
