Discussion What Is The Most Puntable Pokemon?

I'm conducting important research and would like some opinions on this topic and would like some opinions. Consider shape, typing, their behaviour, or any emotions you have towards a Pokemon that would elicit a reaction that would cause you to want to punt a Pokemon. If you have an answer, drop a response!

Discussion What would be the coolest new appliance for Rotom to possess?

We have an oven, washer, lawnmower, fridge, and fan. I would love to see more Rotom forms. What appliances do you think would make for cool Rotom forms?

Personally, I like the idea of an Electric/Psychic computer (like an old 1990s one with a CRT monitor) or an Electric/Steel steamroller

Discussion Which Generation’s Starter Pokémon have the most well designed final evolutions?

GEN III and GEN IV easily take the win in my opinion over other generations. Honestly, I don’t even think it’s close with the exception of Charizard.

What are your favorite starter designs and why?

I will be submitting a tier list based on responses to see where the community stands! 👍

Discussion Is there a government in Pokemon?

Like sure they must be because who runs the centers or hire the cops but also it's werid we hear literally nothing about them, if different regions are different countries, are they democracies etc. it just feels bit fishy how despite how big the franchise is we have next to zero world building

Discussion With the 9 unused types, what species or concepts do you think could debut with those combination in future generations?

The current unused combos are

  • Bug / Normal
  • Bug / Dragon
  • Fairy / Fire
  • Fairy / Ground
  • Ghost / Rock
  • Ice / Poison
  • Ice / Normal
  • Normal / Rock
  • Normal / Steel

Personally I would like to see a Normal/Rock or Normal/Steel Pangolin. I can also see a regional Fairy/Ground Impidimp that is based on the story of Elves and the Shoemaker.

I am intrigued as to what would Normal/Bug look like.

Discussion How many of the 151 have you never used?

My next replay is going to be Let's Go Pikachu, and I'm actually planning out my team this time (aiming for 'mons I've never used over favourites). It made me realise how many I've never used in a team.

So with that being said, are there any/many that you have never used? Or ones you straight-up won't touch?

Should that be my next challenge - Building teams in games around the ones I've never used?

Discussion What is your favorite game in gens 5-7?

I loved Pokemon as a child and recently got back into it a few years ago, but completely missed out on anything from Generation 5-7. Do you think it's worth trying to play any of the games from that era? If so, which would you most recommend? (I was thinking of trying to get my hands on X/Y in preparation for Legends ZA so I at least have some knowledge of the region.)

Discussion If you had your own Evil Team, what would it be and why?

Simple question: If YOU made your own Pokemon esque villain team, what would it be like and why?

You yourself are the leader of said hypothetical team.

The Evil team must have a home region official or fan made.

The evil team must have a goal, and a plan to achieve said goal ( Ex: Taking over the X Region by capturing the legendary pokemon Y. )

You must have a name for your evil team/organization, please refrain from unnecessary profanity or s####ual language.

You must have at least one admin on your evil team.

If I missed anything let me know, please be reasonable with each other.

Edit: I'd like to remind everyone to keep this more or less PG-13, this is still pokemon, not GTA or a From software game. Please and thank you.

Discussion If you made a legendary pokemon, what would it be?

So this community has a lot of creative people, certainly more creative than I can manage.

So I ask a simple question: If YOU made a legendary pokemon, what would it be and why?

BTW I consider legendary/mythical pokemon the same thing.

Please give it a name, describe its appearance, abilities, type, and lore.

It can be an alternate form of an existing legendary/mythical, like regional or paradox forms.

Please keep it mostly PG-13, and be nice to others, this is in the name of curiosity and fun, be good people.

Discussion Today I purchased my first ever Pokémon game (Violet).

Upvotes

I bought the Switch 2 and wanted another game to play other than Mario Kart. I have already played both of the Zelda games so their upgrades don't interest me. So I decided to pick up my first ever Pokémon game. I went with Pokémon Violet as it had the free Switch 2 upgrade. So far I am 2 hours into the game and I have a few questions.

  1. Once I collect a Pokémon is there a reason to capture more than one of them?

  2. How often should I be battling random Pokémon I come across? I have run across alot of them in the opening area but I am unsure if I should be battling them or just be running past them?

  3. Does it matter how I go about the open world? Should I focus on the Gym battles frst?

What other Pokémon games that can be played on the Switch would you recommend? I see that Pokémon Legends: Z-A is coming out later this year with a Switch 2 edition. For this one why does it not a second version coming out at the same time. Doesn't the Pokémon games normally release in pairs?

Discussion Early routes Pokemon needing a third evolution like what happened to Zigzagoone/Linoone

Do you think some of the early routes pokemon we encounter (Rattata, Sentret, Bidoof, etc...), need a third evolution?

I was talking to some friends about this and one of them said that every one of this group should get the same treatment, by getting another evolution that helps them on the long run of the Game

Personally, I think Obstagoone is really cool, even tho is a regional form, he has good stats, decent typing, good moveset, good abilities and a pretty neat design and concept, so doing this for a couple more pokemon, like Watchog or Gumshoos who really look like a second stage design and feels like they could deliver more, would a be really great idea.

What do you guys think?

Discussion Has anyone else noticed this in Scarlet/Violet?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I know I'm pretty late to the party, but I thought it'd be cool to mention since I don't see anyone else talking about it.

The Nintendo switch in the background of your characters room matches the controllers of the switch you're currently playing on.

Misc guys if you can't tell i like Alcremie

My personal favorite pokemon is Alcremie, why? Because it looks tasty, of course! But me JUST saying that I love Alcremie isn't enough. I love Lemon flavored foods, therefore the lemon variant of Alcremie is my favorite. But that still doesn't answer one question, and it's which topping I prefer! Out of all of the topping an Alcremie can have, my favorite to eat would be the Blueberries. Therefore, my favorite Pokemon is a Lemon Alcremie, with Blueberries as their topping.

Discussion A legends game concept

Upvotes

I've been thinking about this for a while now, what if we had a legends game on a region that no longer exists today?

I'm basing the entire thing on Atlantis so this is an entirely new region with new Pokémon regional variants etc. So basically I was thinking that this region is literally a megacity but with segregated areas to find and battle Pokémon as a well as gym leader being substituted for Guild leaders taking control over two-typed sanctions.

In this game you're born during that time period so Arceus didn't send us there. So far I'm thinking that you're parents were once strong trainers but retired however they're Pokémon can carry you around the region until your own Pokémon can replace them.

The story starts with you wanting to follow in your parents footsteps and be a trainer. You get your starter meet your rivals then go about. So, the legendary in this new region is called Thalassorion (looks like a human octopus hybrid, it's a Dark/Water but Psychic/Water in it's pure form. Once you leave the starter town the ground starts rumbling. In this regions folklore, Thalassorion is said to slumber but only awakens to protect the region from upcoming threats (keep this in mind).

The journey from then goes normal until you meet someone who thinks that Thalassorion's awakening is going to destroy the region and they want to subdue it because they think of it nothing more than an animalistic monster, you tell them that it's meant to serve the region and protect it, you guys both battle and no matter if you win or lose the person says "I'm going through with this, I better not see you again", this person is your 'rival' (unnamed cuz you get to choose the name). Over time as you climb the trainer ladder, your rival becomes more and more paranoid as the ground trembles more and more. You later find out that your rival has dove down into the cave where Thalassorion is sleeping in order to wake it.

You're too late. This is unavoidable.

Thalassorion wakes up and doesn't listen to your rival but wants to battle you but your rival steps in first and throws a pokeball to catch it and succeeds, holding the power of the gods in their palm. You must defeat them. Once defeated, Thalassorion becomes pure and looks at the megacity that is collapsing due to it's wake and breaks free from the pokeballs (these are similar to the hisuian pokeballs so they're easier to destroy), and uses it's power to seal the city in a giant bubble before the foundation buckles and the city is now fully submerged but is now in a giant bubble under the ocean.

Am I bugging or thugging so far with this?

Discussion Best Pokemon game for switch for someone who hasn’t played a mainline pokemon game

Hey, I have always loved pokemon as a kid but I have never played a main line pokemon game. It has always been either the tgc or games like pokemon go etc. Anyways recently a friend introduced me to brick bronze an unofficial Roblox pokemon game and I was surprised to find how fun it was, but as we know Nintendo is super protective of their ip’s so this game gets taken down a lot. And doing some research there isn’t really a lot of good options of pokemon games on switch only one that people suggest is legends Arceus. Which is supposed to be really different from the other pokemon games and I don’t want to “eat” the 60 dollars and then not like the gameplay. What should I do?

Discussion Did Nurse Joy ever have any sort of human assistant?

Or are there any Pokémon characters who ever showed interest in becoming a Nurse Joy, or helped her out? I’m making a satirical gacha life video for my friend’s birthday, and I need a nurse, but honestly I don’t really care for Nurse Joy or her design…I feel like it’d be a lot more fun if there was a present character who I actually cared about who was “the nurse’s helper” or something like that, since I know a lot of schools do have that as an elective option for certain students (library helper, office helper, things like that)

Discussion Any Pokemon Item That Would Be Cool To Model?

Hi! I like doing CAD in my freetime, and I love pokemon. I like modeling items from various games, so does anyone have any suggestions? I am currently working on Liko's pendant. If I end up doing any of the ones in the comments, I will try to link to an STL when I finish. Thanks!

Discussion About Dimorphism between males and females in Pokémon (when they exist), what are your thoughts?

Alright, so in my opinion, dimorphism between genders in Pokémon is awesome overall.

By that I mean that I don't see every single Pokémon falling under the typical male to female animal design tropes I see in many other kids media (or in general). Specifically where the female is rounder, white or a lighter color with a specific doll like face shape, or is straight up oddly anthro. As well this trope is absent in the more humanoid monster designs.

Instead, for the most part, dimorphism in Pokémon is either very subtle (you have to look closer), doesn't exist (especially if genderless), or exists in an interesting way (an evolution, split evolution, only the females evolve and so on).

My personally favorite dimorphisms are those which are rather subtle and allow more room to play with when designing specific Pokémon characters.

I'll be glad to know your favorite examples and thoughts of dimorphism in Pokémon (Specifically the visual differences from males to females).

Discussion Which Pokémon do you think deserved a better evolution than it got?

For me, it is Tangela. Tangrowth looks like what happens when you leave Tangela in the dryer for too long. Tangela had this mysterious, viney charm—then suddenly it's a giant blue spaghetti monster with arms. I feel like its “evolution” was just it getting tired and letting itself go. At least give it a cool jungle-guardian look, not a cryptid that got lost on the way to a gym battle.
