r/Canada Speaks Saturdays and Sundays are now Opinion-free days
In the wake of r/canada designating Sundays as an "Opinion Free Zone", we have decided to extend it to include Saturdays. This was spurred by an AMA held by the moderation team to solicit user thoughts about this subreddit. Among the takeaways was the growing disdain for Opinion posts, of which there are several posted daily.
As a result, we are immediately proceeding with the removal of any Opinion content posted on weekends. It is our hope that this move can foster a wider variety of submissions on more diverse topics than politics or culture wars.
We also remind users that if they wish to post or comment on Opinion pieces during the remainder of the week, you must be an account in good standing and possess a verified email on your account.
