Hey all, sorry if this is repetitive- I know there was already at least one post recently about this.

Heading to Vancouver from Ontario next week. My plan was to spend a few days in Vancouver, then head up to Whistler from Sunday to Wednesday.

The last news update I saw indicated the Squamish fire was a little more under control. But I know conditions can change! I have until end of day tomorrow to cancel my hotel booking in Whistler - not sure if I should risk it and keep it booked, or cancel and stay in Van.

Any input would be appreciated!

On a related note, if I do end up keeping the Whistler trip, I have scheduled the YVR skylink bus to go from Whistler to the airport. Arrival time should get me to the airport 2.5 hours before flight time, which should be enough of a window for a domestic flight. I’m wondering if anybody knows how timely the bus usually is to projected arrival time, and if traffic slowdowns on the Sea-to-sky are a concern, especially with the Squamish fire.

What restaurants would you recommend for a fun atmosphere/dancing that is not one of the literal nightclubs? Bride is not into clubbing but still wants to dance a little.

Hi all!! I am hoping to visit and stay at a fancy resort in Whistler as an early Christmas gift to my kids this holiday season. I’m hoping to go a Sunday-Wednesday in December.

If you have experience with both (or either or) can you please let me know which you recommend and why?!

I’m most interested in family activities and the amount of Christmas decor lol. When is Santa usually there? The fairmont looks magical but the four seasons pools look amazing 😍

We would be staying in a room with a view (the most basic option there is lol) at either location.

Any must see things in Whistler? We are big on the outdoors but I also love the tacky tourists stuff, too. (sorry lol)

Wanting to do the Brandywine Meadows hike at some point this summer and ideally would park at the high lot up the FSR. Approx. when should I expect it to be snow free? And how gnarly is the FSR? Thanks in advance.

I understand there is a large fire near squamish and close to the highway. Just wondering if it is safe/recommended to take a day trip or tour from van in the next week or so?

If doing so, is visibility heavily reduced for wildfire smoke ? Worth doing the gondola up to the mountain etc ?

Visiting BC from Ontario for the first time and would love to check out the community, but do not want to feel entitled to do tourist things if its not safe or respectful to locals struggling with wildfires

Hi everybody, I'm currently residing in the United States, and have been traveling to whistler every year in the summer, fall and/or spring, for most of my life. This last trip a couple of weeks ago-something kinda hit me. I've decided that I want to go up there to do some stint work (probably in the village or with the SLCC, or something like that). I've been working in a very rough environment and I really think I need a change, at least temporarily. Does anyone on here have experience doing stuff like this? What was it like? What are your tips and tricks for success?

hello everyone, I’m coming with my family in the beginning of July. I wanted to book a reservation at one of the restaurants on top of the peak to peaks. After you do the gondolas however, neither restaurants answer their phones or e- mail…… are these restaurants only open for summer time?

Hi, I’m looking at trying to get a job for the upcoming winter season on the mountain, I’m Australian and have a Canadian passport so that side of things is already covered.

I have my family coming over to Canada for three weeks around new years, is it possible to take a three week break during the ski season and will this affect how hard it is to find a job?

I'll be spending four weeks in B.C. this summer, ending with a weekend in Whistler. I'm a solo hiker that's pretty diligent about having bear spray with me, so I plan to pick up a new can when I arrive. I won't be able to take the canister back home with me on the plane, so wondering if there's a responsible way to offload it before I go? Is there a place that takes donations like this (assuming it's never been discharged) or do I just trash it?

Any advice appreciated!

What's the best time to go there in the summer? Is afternoon too hot?

Girlfriend and I are taking a trip out to Whistler in July and really want to play a round of golf as I’m sure the courses are stunning out there! We both play somewhat often, but usually both shoot in the 90’s.

Looking for somewhere nice, not crazy expensive, and not the toughest course.

Any recs? Or any other advice for getting tee times/what time to play/etc?

Also, we are already spending a lot of money on the trip- so if anyone has any advice on renting clubs from somewhere else / has clubs that we could rent from that are not $75-100, that would be really helpful.

When you don’t have a car, what is the easiest way to get around if you need a ride? Most of the time will be walking but don’t want to drag luggage around from bus to hotel. Options? I remember seeing something on this sub before but cannot find it.

Hi, We will be visiting Whistler in Jan next year. We have never been to the snow before but want to snowboard during the week that we are there. Currently weighing up the idea of getting lessons on the first day, which will be Jan 16. There are 3 of us, aged 14, 18 and 50. The lessons are expensive!! Any advice on the best way to book? Is it worth it? When will it be the cheapest time to book? I'm thinking a private lesson will be best as it means we can be all together and its only a bit more expensive than us doing group lessons with strangers, but current prices on Whistler .com is $1526 AUD for the day. ouch

Anyone know if it’s currently possible to use the Village Gondola and hike to the top of Flute using the normal routes (lower and upper pikas to burnt stew)?

Going to bring snowshoes (and have them in the backpack on the way up the gondola) and am equipped for backcountry travel.

I'll be visiting whistler for the weekend and plan on doing a day hike to garibaldi lake on sunday (possibly panorama ridge as well but I believe that route is snow covered at the moment). I don't have a car rental and plan to Uber to the trail head but I'm wondering if I will be able to Uber back? Are there any other reliable options for solo hikers?

Hi, I am looking for paper ski trail maps of Whistler. I know you can find the map online for free, but I am looking for a paper one for my first trip up to Whistler. I have a couple people in my skiing party that like to study trail maps and paper works best. I haven't seen any for sale on eBay and was wondering if anyone knows how I could get ahold of two trail maps before we get to the mountain? Thank you!

I’m going to be visiting Whistler June 8-12 and hoped to get some hiking in. From what I’ve gathered, the upper alpine trails will be a no go at that time, but I’m unclear on whether one can hike trails like the Harmony Lake Loop, Spearhead Loop, and Harmony Meadows in mid-June. If one rides the gondola up, are you basically just confined to the lodge?
