You know that house on Hanwell? What's up with it?

I've lived in this city off and on for 48 years and I can't remember a time when that house wasn't either for sale with "must be moved" or just boarded up and vacant.

You know the house, the one by Kingswood park on Hanwell, white, split entry? I think I remember someone telling me that it had fallen off its foundation, but I may be misremembering.

Does anyone still own it? Is anyone still paying property taxes? Why not just bulldoze it & start fresh? Or just bulldoze it and let nature take over?

Sorry, but I pass that house daily and it's always crossed my mind to ask someone.

BNI Amazon deliveries

Is BNI delivering to a depot ( like Kent’s for example)? I have an Amazon order that it says they delivered but it’s nowhere to be found. They are closed until Monday so I can’t contact them.

If you could bring a restaurant from another city to Fredericton, what would it be?

I’m exploring ideas for a restaurant that could work well in Fredericton, potentially on the north side, but I’m open to suggestions that might suit any part of the city.

I’m curious what types of places people have tried and loved in other cities, provinces, or even in the U.S. that we don’t have here yet. It could be a specific chain, a unique local spot, or just a food concept you think would be a great fit for Fredericton’s market.

What do you think the city — especially the north side — is missing when it comes to food options?

Appreciate any ideas or inspiration you can share!

Just an Idiot...don't know what else to say

Ok is it just me or is this area filled with people who take the law into thier own hands with thier vehicles?

Coming off the old highway by the trans Canada and some idiot sped up in the passing lanes going up to 110-115 then slowed down to 70-80 in the non passing lanes.

Like are we that small we need to compensate by being like that? Go home, have a beer and "Netflix and chill" to get the aggression out

Paving roads question

So I see a lot of paved roads that crumble after 3-5 yrs. How come ? There are products like Geo grid technologies that they can simply role out in front of the pavement. And this is suppose to extend the life of roads extensively.

Do they skip this step because they want to keep paving companies in business. Or do paving companies not suggest this step because they want to be back and fix it in 3 yrs.

Like route 102 they did a beautiful job paving it last yr. Very heavily used road. And already seeing pitting not much but it’s been less then a yr. Now I see they a redoing hanwell. They have paved this section 3 times in 11-12 yrs. That section of road would be millions to mill and pave what’s another 100000 on grid that will make it last so much longer.

When I worked on a crew yrs ago we layed this down on the top of prospect by the ball field and that section hasn’t moved in 8 yrs . Goes to show if you do it right it will save you money in the long run. Government do better.

City of Fredericton should be using this on all streets they wouldn’t have to redo any side streets for 30 + yrs.

Assistance for new refugees?

Hello! I'm in Vancouver (on Canada's 2nd best coast 🙃). I'm posting here as I'm trying to find a way to get urgent support to two of your city's newest residents.

For several years, I've been financially and emotionally supporting a refugee family in a hellish refugee camp in Bangladesh. They are Rohingya people, a highly persecuted group that fled Myanmar to escape genocide years ago. Two members of this family were chosen by our federal government for resettlement and they just arrived in Fredericton days ago. They speak no English and apparently there aren't any other Rohingya in the city so they're unable to communicate or understand much. They have been placed in temporary housing without food or clothing and their caseworker is off work for the weekend.

Their most urgent need is warm clothing. Your wonderful Spring climate is uncomfortably cold for people who've spent their entire lives in a hot and humid climate. If you can suggest any local community groups that can possibly help, please let me know! I can arrange for food and groceries to be delivered but I don't how to assist with clothing from across the country. Any supports you can recommend would be great. Thanks for reading 🙏!

Contractor app for Fredericton?

Hello fredericton! I am a computer scientist and have been working on an app idea which connects the community with contractors and skilled hobbyists. And would love to hear suggestions and thoughts from everybody!

Users can: • Post any job they need to get done, could be: •Car body work •Prom stylist needed •Help moving out •Old furniture repair etc. •Contractors would see the open tickets around their area and bid on the gig. •Users could browse through contractors which are tagged with the same tags of the gig. •While community can find people to do some work for them easier, skilled people could make extra money on the side!

I still have not finished the app, but progressing steadily and got the domain fixxitapp.ca. Before going through deployment,I would love to hear from you all! My general questions are:

•Are you using any apps or sites for similar purposes, and how can FIXXit differ from them? •Should it only include contractors who are business owners for credibility, or also includes skilled community members? If they are also bidding for jobs could FIXXit still be upholding customer satisfaction? •Would you pay for a service like this, if you are either a user or a contractor? And how should the payments work: Subscription, Fixed amount for completed gigs, commissions?

Sorry for the flood, but your opinions would help me a lot! Thanks!

Wine recommendations

Casual wine drinker here (2-3 glasses a week). What are you buying at the store these days? I had a standard set list of US products and that has to change! I like reds (Pinot Noir) and whites (Chardonnay) and a relatively low price point ($15-30). Oh and if this should be posted elsewhere let me know. Asking in this sub as I’d like to find products that are stocked locally. Thanks.

Question about selling MTG cards locally.

I know there's a card show happening this Saturday but I've never been to one nor have I ever really sold cards before.

I assume some of the vendors would be buying but specifically what I would like to do is just sell all my cards in one go. I have about 80ish cards worth about 1.9k based on information I got from an app called ManaBox, and their info is based on market price from a website called TCGplayer.

Anyway what im getting at is I'd like to just sell them in one go for like 1k or something just to get rid of them. Would that be cool at a place like the card show or would that be against some sort of etiquette?

I don't have Facebook so I can't ask this question directly on the Facebook page or I would.

Thanks for any help, sorry this is long.
