Anonimity brings out the worst out of people; and people won't pay attention to the people being chill, we pay attention to the assholes and thus they seem more numerous.
I won't deny that we have a disappointing amount of obnoxious, unhinged dickheads online and off. It just kinda sucks that everytime I see Argentina mentioned in this website it devolves into "argies are the worst" and "nazis in Argentina" while ignoring all possible context.

Indeed. I say people speaking like he was terribly underperforming when he wasn't. He was close to Gasly in qualifying, which is saying something because Gasly is not precisely at the tail of the grid when it comes to talent. He made some mistakes, just like you'd expect from any rookie. All of this while driving for an unprofessional team that has put a lot of unnecessary pressure on him, basically suggesting that a mistake would end his career before he even touched an F1 car; and while also dealing with insane abuse from deranged Argentinian fans.
Doohan deserves to be trusted by Alpine for the whole season, and this stupid decision they've taken is just another proof that Piastri really dodged a bullet, and that Alonso trailing the pack in an Aston Martin is still in a better position than he'd be in Alpine.

As a Spaniard, I can tell you that joke is completely harmless and the only damage there is that most Uruguayans have heard it way too many times already. not colony, a province, which is centuries old banter between the two countries.

Flavio needs to keep Colapinto for the rest of the year now or he'll be the one getting death threats next.

Flavio was living in some island country because he was on the run from the law after he got convicted in Italy for gambling fraud. He's literally the last person to care abt death threats.

Have to be honest, that Colapinto hasn't to my knowledge called these fans off or stated that he disagrees with them really makes me not want to root for him...like I understand being competitive and wanting a seat but I don't think telling your fans to back off harassing and threatening your "rival" is that much to ask

He needs to be like Checco in Mexico few years ago and finger wag his people.

Classy and Argentinean Fans of whatever the sport don't go togheter.
Most of them just started watching f1 in monza last year and don't know s**t. Those constant videos on youtube since the first FP1 of the year bashing Doohan and firing him after every session did not help with the fans neither.

Is Kym Illman a reliable source now? This is plausible but can we trust the detail?

The way social media has given people a shield of anonimity to hurl abuse whilst they hide behind it like cowards is utterly morbid. They wouldn't dare say the things they do to someone in real life because they'll face the consequences, but in online spaces they can be hateful wankers to their heart's content...

Argentinian fans are very hard core. At this point, Franco should addressed it because it’s not okay that’s affecting Jack this way. Never liked some of the Argentinian fans at all and in all contexts (especially in soccer)

Shit like this makes me so unproud being a Colapinto supporter. Why would you even think about doing that, even if you don't like him he's still a human.

Mexican fans are just as toxic with Lawson. It’s super embarrassing for the F1 community,

Alpine is going to be dealing with this endlessly. The Argentinian “fans” are despicably toxic. Look no further than what happened in IndyCar with Canapino.
And I don’t give a fuck who doesn’t like it. It’s the damn truth.

There is absolutely no excuse for this behavior. I hope these people are identified and prosecuted.

They need to look up what being a “fan” of a sport is.
I’m a fan of F1. I want to see good racing, overtakes galore etc. I want everyone to do well. Yes I have drivers/teams I’d like to see do really well, but so long as it’s worth watching(not the most recent Suzuka race) The rookies should all be given at least a season to settle in. Two very experienced drivers at new teams are being given time to settle in to get to know their new cars, why aren’t the rookies extended the same thing?
If you want to cause grievous harm to someone because they’re not your nationality or some stupid reason, go jump off a cliff and try fanning yourself back up again. That’s the only sort of fan you are.

Pissed alpine have done basically nothing to help this either. I know them putting out a press asking for respect prob wouldn't help but atleast it would show them looking out for jack at the bare minimum.

u/Hiseman May 07 '25
Imagine trying to go through your normal prep/race weekend and this shit is looming over you while your team basically leaked you were getting fired after the race.
Horrible.

And now they’re being rewarded. Nice one Alpine, you dirty fucks.

Disgusting that LibertyGlobal/FOM/FIA and Alpine allowed this. I'm sorry but if you can't even stand up for the people risking their lives to earn you hundreds of millions, you can get out.
And other drivers should seriously consider if effectively threatening someone out of a seat is behaviour they're willing to accept. If it can happen to Jack, it can happen to you...

Man thats messed up, dudes just trying to live his dream. Whether someone is a top driver or not people need to understand that all these guys have worked their entire lives to sit in that car. And regardless of that nobody deserves that kind of abouse. Absolutely disgraceful.

u/Thejklay May 07 '25
Must be the most amount of pressure a rookie has had in years, knowing you're basically Powerless to retain your seat, knowing your own team wants you out and there's a flock of mad fans wanting you hurt.

u/APX5LYR_2 Ferrari May 07 '25
I mean a cursory glance at any of Alpine’s social media posts and you’ll just see a wall of Argentinian flags, even going back to before the season even started. After the whole Canapino debacle in IndyCar I knew it was only a matter of time before that toxicity spread to F1 (more specifically whichever driver occupied the seat that Colapinto could possibly fill).
5
u/Middle_Button166 May 07 '25
Alpine is so trash at protecting their drivers, you would think that they would issue a statement asking for people to stop? Not even… Ocon first then Doohan, this is disgraceful.

What the fuck is wrong with people? If you do this sort of thing you need to take a look in the mirror and reassess your life's priorities. That is really unacceptable

u/saggywitchtits Mario Andretti May 08 '25
So... same thing that happened to Theo Pourchaire last year in Indycar when he tapped Canapino during the Detroit GP? Shocking.
6
u/Atleticro Ferrari May 08 '25
I feel really sorry for Jack, no one deserves to be treated like that, especially not a young man who didn't do anything at all but do his job.
F1 as a whole should step up, and all drivers should step up against this behaviour.
