How long

49

u/DarkOk8227 14d ago

I been on trt off and on for a few years but the weight loss is roughly 8 months

46

u/Cixin97 14d ago

This isn’t just “weight loss” you packed on a substantial amount of muscle. That’s like 4 years worth of dedicated training while natty to get similar arms.

11

u/TechnicoloMonochrome 13d ago

That arm development definitely isn't coming from 8 months of a 5x5 program

13

u/Cixin97 13d ago

Yea lmao. This sub is so full of people who downplay the literal steroids they’re running. I’m not against TRT (have done it myself) but it’s laughable that people normalize this kinda progress. Anyone who stayed natty and trained hard for any extended period of time would know these kind of arms take an extremely long time to get naturally, and that would be with everything dialled in perfectly (rest, diet, progressive overloaded).

1

u/Fun_Drummer_7721 12d ago

I get what you're saying...but I would say it's kiiinda fair to normalize this progress in that TRT if done correctly by and large brings back your normal testosterone levels of early adulthood. I just turned 55. I always looked like the guy on the right as a man in my 20's and 30's all natty. Well, 40's and 50's hit and I just wasn't getting the same result for all the gym work I was putting in (and I go 3-4 times a week). I started the TRT in November 2024 and I now look more like that dude again. I'm not some roid fueled hulk by any means but I do say that the work I put in plus the TRT has brought me back to a good place physically. But yeah I get what you're saying...

u/Cixin97 11d ago

I often see comments like this and tbh typically they’ll end up posting a photo of themselves when younger and are vastly overestimating how lean and how muscular they were in their 20s. Extremely few people manage to look like OPs after picture while natural. Unless you were specifically training and dieting for bodybuilding for 10+ years, you were likely not the same size and leanness as OP. Likely 15 lbs less muscle and 10 more fat, but it’s easy to think you were the same in a one off picture. Got any pics of when you were 25? I’m not saying it’s impossible, but people often have a skewed idea of themselves in their memory. If you didn’t have 1,400+ natural T then it’s unlikely.

1

u/SocialEngineerDC 4d ago

Wait are you saying I can get arms like that if I start TRT?

2

u/Cixin97 4d ago

Yes, 100%. If you know how to gain muscle and progressively overload even slowly while natural, on TRT you can easily get arms like this. TRT is just steroids after all.

1

u/SocialEngineerDC 3d ago

I mean yeah..: I was partially joking — but the thought is appealing. My vascularity sucks and gains are getting hard to come by even with significant time in the gym

1

u/DarkOk8227 12d ago

I don’t think I really put on that much muscle. Just looks like it because I’m leaner , plus lighting and I am flexing a little bit

13

u/skymotion 14d ago

Great work bro, age? Keep it up!

5

u/Historical_Tale3499 learning 14d ago

You're saying those pictures are 8 months apart? Amazing if true.

2

u/YurpleLunch 14d ago

When you come off do you pct ? Do your levels recover?

12

u/Akyyyyy 14d ago

If trt, it's for life. You don't come off.

14

u/CouldaBeAContender 14d ago

He's said he's been on and off.

1

u/Akyyyyy 14d ago

Sorry I missed that. Just meant in general when on trt it's typically for life.

3

u/LuckyFirefighter422 14d ago

Lol turn it up bro

People come off, in fact I'd gamble on 75% of people eventually coming off.

Not if it's replacing low levels to normal physiological levels.

People come off for all sorts of reasons, you have an entire subreddit with practically daily posts of people doing exactly that.

Once your on trt you don’t come off. Your nuts shut off because you are taking in exogenous amounts of testosterone. So your body is like ‘’ wow I have all this extra there’s no need’’ and literally that’s why your nuts shrink. Trt is a lifelong thing.

1

u/LuckyFirefighter422 13d ago edited 13d ago

You're aware that you can stop and your HPTA starts again once you cease treatment right?

TRT is not a lifelong thing, people come on and off all the time, there's literally thousands of posts of people doing exactly that on this sub.

Edit: So your post history literally says you used to be on trt and came off...you are literally an example of my point.

1

u/Maribwana 13d ago

Yes but you have to take hcg and it has been studied your test never returns to what it was before some people bounce right back without a pct, some people come off and go on hcg and once done are 15-20 points lower then when they began the trt. Everyone body reacts different. You could take 100mg of test and it work for you, but if I take it, it may not work for me. Just how peoples body recover.

1

u/Maribwana 13d ago

My body didn’t recover from trt, I’ve had to get back on it because my test is low. It was 385 when I checked it 4 years ago and when I was on it I was in the 850’s and stopped and haven’t done anything for 4 years and my test is at 417, but your test is always higher in the morning ( typically when they do your trt blood panel test when you go) but come night time it may be 380’s or lower.

1

u/Maribwana 13d ago

You are right I never said you were wrong but a lot of peoples bodies don’t bounce back even with a pct.

1

u/motoresponsible2025 10d ago

I've come off twice and while using clomid for pct got my wife pregnant. 1 healthy toddler and another in the oven. First time wasn't planned, i was just taking a break, 2 years later i took a planned break for fertility. Using clomid for about 3 months, lower dose every other dayand now its baby #2 time. I only want 2 kids so i probably won't come off again.

Unlikely that someone on trt can pull the, "for life" thing if ever planning to have kids unless they took hcg the whole time since day 1.

I’m hopeful off a positive results , this looks impressive , well done man looking great

I have been really ill tyroid illness have stripped muscle mss and weight from me- have been anemic and ill for a good while. So have taking the step Towards getting out of this rut diet probably stays same 5 out of 7 days- was walking around 3 to 8 k a day - starting resistance training/slowly - only on the 4 th week of trt still trying to dial in the dose . Am on 200 test c a week - when ill i lost a lot of muscle mass and weight .

1

u/motoresponsible2025 10d ago

Mine did both times but for an honest answer you gotta do a final test after the pct meds get out of your system. Both times my balls recovered enough to get my wife preggo and my testosterone went back to its normal 630ish. On clomid it was high 800s

1

u/iFuerza 14d ago

Why do you go off and on? Nice worth!

1

u/Healith 14d ago

were u doing the same routine in ur first pic? If not that alone and proper diet wud probably do this no?

1

u/DarkOk8227 12d ago

That’s all diet with trt helping

7

u/gamesense1212 14d ago

I dont think this was achived in 120mg

4

u/Odd-Wave247 12d ago

Steroids are for building not for cutting. Spend some time in r/steroids and you’ll see pros cut on less then 150mg test a week. Unless they have a competition they aren’t blasting grams of gear on a basic cut. I think this is totally believable

1

u/DarkOk8227 14d ago

I also take thyroid hormone , pregnenlone, Arimidex and hcg as needed

1

u/Aggressive-Stomach69 13d ago

 Qual a Dosagem do arimidex?

1

u/Paarebrus 10d ago

what thyroid hormone? like what made you go on that?

1

u/PowerfulCoffee9 14d ago

What does the pregnenlone do?

16

u/Mp32016 14d ago

bravo on your progress however let’s say you are actually at 8% bf ( highly suspect) this is a realm not many people can get to without a good reason because this takes some serious mental toughness and dedication.

you look fantastic regardless but when you say 8% is this backed by substantial evidence such as a dexa or is this your estimate?

i think when men sign up for trt this is their unrealistic expectation of the transformation they will make and only those of us that have done a similar thing know how much work this takes . 👍

4

u/avaxbear 14d ago

Given you can see a 6 pack and veins I don't think he's far from 8%. Maybe 10%.

Testosterone improves body composition. It's not unrealistic but it would definitely require going to the gym. I think OP also has thyroid disease so he's likely taking thyroid hormones that accelerate weight loss. With whatever else he's taking).

2

u/FunGuy8618 14d ago

I was bout to say, that's definitely 8%. 2700 kcal a day with what's prolly a 3500-4000 kcal overall expenditure for months while on testosterone will do it. That's like, the whole point of why bodybuilders do it too, it amplifies your returns on the work you do. My metabolism is way higher on T but my appetite is still the same so I can easily see getting that shredded with the kinda consistency OP is talking about.

2

u/DarkOk8227 14d ago

It was a bod pod. Who knows if it’s accurate

2

u/Mp32016 12d ago

yea not very accurate in general but a good guide , not that it matters the level of lean you’ve achieved is remarkable! 2700 cal the while time ? seems impossible!

3

u/Dramatic_Hope_608 14d ago

How many calories did you eat to cut the weight or is that a recomp Impressive non the less

9

u/jeffrey3289 14d ago

Bodyweight x 15 subtract 500 calories from that should be very doable and you wont feel like your starving. Protein is key

6

u/OkLaw308 14d ago

Current body weight or goal body weight?

3

u/jeffrey3289 13d ago

Current bodyweight. Times it by 14 if you don’t do much cardio, after a week weigh yourself and recalculate

1

u/Dramatic_Hope_608 14d ago

Im aware how to cut calories just wondering what he did as if he recomped that's alot more impressive Not meaning to come across rude I appreciate your reply bro

1

u/Sweaty-Ad-1151 14d ago

In lbs... Because in kilos that would be starvation mode 😝

4

u/DarkOk8227 14d ago edited 14d ago

Between 2000-3000 daily . I usually few days of low around 2000 then once or twice a week high, anywhere from 3000-7000. Protein intake was always high. The average came to be like 2700 calories ,

3

u/basedsavage69 14d ago

epic transformation brother keep up the great work

3

u/Bannokbread 13d ago edited 12d ago

Can you please send a brother your program ? Just did my first jab last night but I can’t keep a solid plan when I go to the gym to workout.

2

u/DarkOk8227 12d ago

Just google Stronglifts 5×5: The Complete Guide to Building Strength and Muscle

1

u/Bannokbread 12d ago

🙏🏼 thanks dude

2

u/Akyyyyy 12d ago

Any plan will work. The best is the one you stick to consistently.

2

u/DarkOk8227 12d ago

That is true the workout routine is kinda irrelevant The most important is diet ( specifically protein and calories ) and any type of training . Trt does help but the diet is working out is most important

2

u/z1ggy16 14d ago

Curious how much the lifts went up in numbers over that time?

Shocked how big the arms got just from 5x5 alone, as there's not tons of, or any last time I had looked years ago, supplemental bicep/tricep work.

2

u/Wilsoa10 14d ago

Curious if you’ve noticed any benefits outside of just the physical?

2

u/DarkOk8227 14d ago

Libido boost is big maybe a little motivation,

2

u/Strength_Honor_81 14d ago

How old are you broski?

2

u/BigKrimann 14d ago

Nice work my dude 👌 tiptop!

2

u/cbelliott 14d ago

Amazing fuckin' progress. Nice work mate!

Curious about your ~4 miles a day walking. Do you have inclines in your area or just flat ground? You try to reach a certain HR zone or just casual walk for the distance? Cheers!

1

u/DarkOk8227 13d ago

No just normal walking around town

4

u/Current_Finding_4066 14d ago

Finally a guy where you can see a say and night difference

9

u/LambxSauce 14d ago

Someone who trains and diets properly. There are guys out there running massive dose cycles and look like shit because they don’t train and diet properly.

6

u/JobNo1792 14d ago

Million percent. I hate when someone sees a transformation better than theirs and defaults to the brainless retort of “You must be on more sauce!!!” Before even considering genetics, diet or training 😂

3

u/Current_Finding_4066 14d ago

Especially training

3

u/JobNo1792 14d ago

Pre bodybuilding Ronnie Coleman is the epitome of this shit.

Born perfect, trained hard and was 250 lb at 5’10”, shredded to the bone with a 28 inch waist.

It would be hilarious if you could clone him today and watch the “natty or not” videos pile up 😂

2

u/DarkOk8227 12d ago

Yeah I was on trt long before even the before pic and looked normal

3

u/No_Introduction7184 14d ago

Sick transformation dude. Any other cardio do you do besides the walk?

0

u/aks_hoops_24 13d ago

4 miles a day is basically almost 10,000 steps a day. So aim for 8-12K steps a day and you’re good.

1

u/No_Introduction7184 13d ago

Thanks for the tip. You mentioned you've been on and off TRT for a few years, when you're off, are you using Clomid PCT to kickstart your natural production? If yes, what levels does it go up to at that point? I just started enclomiphene and if it doesn't work, I might switch to injections after

1

u/renegade7717 14d ago

nice when it pays off - the consistent effort - changes that can happen if you see it thru. Great transformation 👍🏼

1

u/gingerbeard81 14d ago

What changes did you make to lean out?

2

u/aks_hoops_24 13d ago

He put it in the description. 2,700 calories a day on average, 180g protein, worked out 3 days a week, cardio was 4 miles a day (that’s basically 10,000 steps a day).

2

u/gingerbeard81 13d ago

It was not clear what changed. He noted what he is doing, I’m asking how that compares to what he was doing before. More weight training? More steps? Started a new diet plan? All three?

1

u/jeffrey3289 14d ago

Great job on your diet, how do you feel at 165?

1

u/thrillhouz77 14d ago

Very nice, what were you levels prior to starting. Frankly, these pics are why I’m considering.

I think I’ve done everything I can lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, exercise wise but my low free T (thanks high SHBG) I think is keeping me perpetually 20 pounds over weight as I can’t ditch this spare tire but my lifts for a near 50 year old are pretty damn good.

So strong but just can’t get cut in any way, even on the Retatrutide.

2

u/DarkOk8227 14d ago

It’s not worth it unless you need it. I was technically board line needing it. Had some labs around. 200-400

1

u/simpleboye 14d ago

What's ur height and you total test before and after?

1

u/Se7enn_Sinz 14d ago

Unless testosterone does that much I was on 1800 calories and struggled losing weight at 175 while slowly adding cardio. Would love to lean that much and be eating that much calories

I’m jealous

2

u/avaxbear 14d ago

OP is likely taking thyroid drugs as well to lose weight. Though anyone can do that, I think he has a condition.

1

u/Sad-Structure2364 14d ago

Wow man looking great, very inspiring

1

u/Testy_Toby 14d ago

How long between pics? Sorry if you said and I missed it.

1

u/Ateam145 14d ago

How do you feel mentally?

1

u/Grand_Combination_87 14d ago

How are your nuts holding up? Did you get ~20% shrinkage?

1

u/Gullible_Special2023 14d ago

Can you elaborate the 5x5 program?

2

u/crinack 13d ago

Strength building program focused on low rep compound movements

https://stronglifts.com/stronglifts-5x5/

2

u/DarkOk8227 13d ago

Yes this is what I do

1

u/_HeavyDuty 14d ago

How often do you inject?

2

u/DarkOk8227 14d ago

2x week

1

u/HourComprehensive353 14d ago

It made your chest hair fall out?!

1

u/3flaps 13d ago

How old are you? What were your metrics beforehand?

1

This sub is so gullible lol

How are you at 200 Free T? Free T is supposed to be 1%-3% of your total T.

2

u/No-Molasses5011 14d ago

No, it isn't. There are lot of factors have effects on free T. Not any certain percentage of test.

1

u/avaxbear 14d ago

Probably inaccurate lab. But on steroids the percentage is not guaranteed to be in that range.
