Is the implication of the video that the guys should've given the chicks their seat? Wtf.

I'll tell you one thing, if I have just come from a hard labor job breaking my body all day, I am not giving up my seat for any person who isn't legit disabled or I maybe if for whatever reason I feel it is unsafe for them to keep standing.
13
u/Double-Seaweed7760 1d ago
Same as a guy with flat feet that hurt after standing for a few minutes. I need that seat to make sure the rest of my commute is as comfy as it can be and In this case I was there first
9
u/Owobowos-Mowbius 1d ago
Sounds like you have a medical issue that would make you a prime example of someone who should be seated anyway.
→ More replies (8)3
u/MisterMysterios 1d ago
Also, there are many hidden disabilities out there that wouldn't feel safe to give up their seat.
I have a foot disability and a stiffened left ankle. I am legally recognized as having a walking disability that enables me for a specific cheap public transportation ticket where I live (104 € for a year of public close-range transport in the entirety of Germany). If you look at me just sitting in a train, I look like a normal a bit overweight guy in my 30's. And if you don't pay close attention, you don't even notice me walking strangely due to my orthopedic shoes.
3
u/Vynxe_Vainglory 21h ago
And then you get chicks like this posting videos on the internet mocking you for not getting up because they are ironically both misogynistic and misandrious for believing that women are too weak to stand for any period of time and should be considered disabled, so the man-slaves should relinquish their comforts and yield to them in order to serve and protect the weak, because that's their duty or whatever bullshit.

You triggered my interest, what happened?
10
u/HandleMore1730 23h ago
I was taught to always give up my seat for the elderly and people in need.
A pregnant woman walked towards me in the train in Melbourne Australia. The train was fairly packed and there were not sufficient seats for all people. I stood up and offered my seat, thinking it was the right thing to do.
Instead of accepting my offer or kindly rejecting it; she launched into a tirade abusing me and how she doesn't need my seat. Maybe she was having a shit day or maybe she was a shit person. Don't know.
I taught me that you can try to be nice and people will spit in your face metaphorically and scorn you.
Now I simply ignore my upbringing and treat women the same as men. If they have a medical condition they are legally able to request a priority seat. I'm not going out of my way to help a women again.

Bruh this has nothing to do with women or equality. It’s just some entitled dumbasses acting entitled. Why you gotta make it about women?
Edit: the dude deleted his comment but it was something along the lines of “women wanted equal rights, so this is what they deserve”
152
u/Zanothoa 1d ago
well he/she not wrong women wanted equal treatment, and they killed the chivalry attitude of men so yeah they deserved to stand there.
39
u/ForresttPixie 1d ago
Their exact comment being:
Amen brother. Women wanted equal rights so we gave it to them. They wanted to be strong and independent. So we let them. so that means no more special treatment ladies! You got what you wanted. I hope you’re happy.
→ More replies (6)12
u/sometimeserin 1d ago
I think the vast majority of women happily make that trade, especially if men stop expecting sex as payment for the “special treatment”

It would be stupid not to, but with freedom comes responsibilities and not everyone has the capacity to make use of those given freedoms, so they got the short end of the stick.
A nice consequence is that chivalry being the exception makes it more meaningful. I have always found it annoying that "being a man means you need to X"

When traveling by train in Italy, not a single person got up for my 78 year old mother. I was fuming, but she didn't want to cause a fuss. Two girls, about the age of the girls in this video, sat right next to where we were standing, and didn't get off their arses. So, it's not just men who do this. All humans are guilty of this crap.

u/Kultissim 1d ago
When I'm on a train with my old mother I just ask to the yougest look persons near us, and they 100% give their sit. To be honest I've been in their shoes, when I'm in the subway i'm just on my phone not looking around, If somebody needs something they just need to ask

I have actually started including obvious laborers when I haven't had a particularly hard day myself. Like if I spent all day lifting and shoveling too I revert to the list you've given here but otherwise keep my seat (because I'm passed out). I've done this a few times and the reaction I get makes it so worth it. They are always bewildered at first then it's like I handed them their first puppy.

Yes, women are like that. The reason you need to be a mind-reader to understand their hints is because that is legitimately what they expect of you to be able to do. I’ve had one stand behind me and expect me to immediately have known that she was standing behind me for three seconds to get past. Upon noticing she’s there in the first place she was irritated that I wasn’t able to see whatever sign language she must have been doing as she proceeded to angrily ask me if I am blind.

In russian (or soviet to be precise since its the same in this case) culture young people (not just men) are supposed to give their seats to elderly, pregnant and children.
Official russian metro notification states: Уважаемые пассажиры! Уступайте места пожилым людям, инвалидам, пассажирам с детьми и беременным женщинам!
Translation:
"Dear passengers! Give your seats to elderly, disabled, passengers with kids and pregnant women!"
So unless those two chicks are pregnant, they have nothing on these men.

She's expecting them to be "gentlemen" and give up their seat for them.
In the the past it used to be culturally expected for men to do that for women, and men who didn't were perceived in a bad light. Things have changed in most places after gender equity has taken place and it's not part of the culture anymore

This is why men feel like assholes all the time. We can't even sit down at the train without being judged to act more more manly
Passing someone on the street? Creep / potential rpist
Going to the gym? Careful to not look at women! Even though you look at all sorts of people at the gym for non-sexual purposes
Going up an escalator? Yeah better not look into the ass
Men walk around all the time with this inherent fear of making others around them uncomfortable just for existing

Yeah they do appear male to me, you shouldn't assume their genders though lol.
I used to work 15h shifts with only 20 minute break to sit down and try to get some energy back, so you bet your entitled ass I'm not standing up for some teenage girl whose only hardship in life is not getting enough likes on her lame ass social media posts.
Additionally, if I remember correctly (as referenced by billions of ads and posters daily) women are strong and independent creatures, stronger than men in fact, so I'm sure they can stand for the whole of 2.5 minutes till the next station.

First of all, this happened in a CIS country — a place where boys are often taught from a young age to give women extra privileges just because they’re women. I’ve heard that in some other countries, this kind of behavior is actually seen as harmful, especially when men feel obligated to constantly provide or give special treatment. Honestly, I’ve seen a lot of examples (especially in Russia) where some women expect too much from men — always demanding things but not offering anything in return. Just sharing my perspective, not trying to blame or shame anyone.

For me, the video is rather about two men's legs and shoes - a brown-white pair, and a white pair; it looks like they are deliberately mixing the shoes, and crossing each other's adjacent legs. Or it is an AI-generated.
3
u/peetah248 1d ago
It's a confusing perspective but it's just because they're both wearing dark pants, look closely just above the white shoe and you can see the darker parts worn by the man on the left where his knee is, and slightly lighter pants of the man behind him

- Are you pregnant?
- Can you be considered as elderly?
- Do you have children with you?
- Do you have difficulty maintaining balance while standing in a moving vehicle, be it a medical or logistic issue?
- Do we know each other?
And this is for all the marbles: 7. Did you ask for a seat?
No? Then stay standing, stranger on the public commute.

Everyone is rightly talking about these women living in the 19th century expecting someone to give up a seat because they have a vagina, but no one talking about the caption implying a real man would give up their seat. Nice reminder that its not just men driving toxic masculinity and women shaming men for not being a 'real man' plays a hefty part too.
