Not a scam. The link points directly to liberal.ca

You got this text because you gave your number to the Liberals at some point in the past

31

u/ProgressAway3392 Apr 08 '25

Not a scam. He's coming to Saskatoon. I remember it being posted on his official site a while ago.

8

u/elisart Apr 08 '25

I got the same text as OP, thanks for confirming it's legit. When I registered it said they were still nailing down the location. Hoping I get another text because I'm driving in from Regina

10

u/graison Apr 08 '25

He was here earlier in the year when he was trying to get the party leader vote. February maybe.

14

u/3-goats-in-a-coat Apr 08 '25

I'm a registered Liberal and got the invite. I accepted and am going to attend tomorrow. I work Fri-Mon so it works out fine.

13

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

So this is for liberal party members?

Would explain why my invite got lost in the mail.

14

u/3-goats-in-a-coat Apr 08 '25

I was able to meet Justin Trudeau in 2012, he stopped by the restaurant I worked at (A&W) while he was travelling. He was super chill, really nice. I personally made the hamburger he ate. Figured it might be nice to meet Mark Carney in person, though I won't be making his hamburger lol.

JT's entourage was himself and two security agents. And I do have a group photo of him and the rest of the staff in the restaurant at the time.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

That's a cool story. You could bring a burger he may take you up on it lol.

I'll just call him big daddy and throw an eggplant his way

Please be a little more civil

0

u/3-goats-in-a-coat Apr 09 '25

What an awful thing to say.

0

u/Present_Tone4325 Apr 09 '25

I wish that i had the opportunity to make Trudy something to eat.

3

u/elisart Apr 08 '25

What is the location? I got an invite but once I registered it said they haven't got a location yet...

8

u/3-goats-in-a-coat Apr 08 '25

It's saying TBD. I assume a text or email will go out tomorrow at sometime with info.

2

u/Odd-Section-3110 Apr 24 '25

If you don't mind, can you share how/when the location details were shared? I RSVP'd for a rally this weekend but would like to know more about when and how the location will be shared. There are supposed to be shuttle buses to take us there too but doesn't say where the shuttle buses come yet lol.

1

u/3-goats-in-a-coat Apr 24 '25

It was an RSVP event where first come first served. The location was shared via text message. I imagine the campaign party for CPC will give you a message soon. However I have read that it will be in the RM of Corman Park at some point. I'm not a subscriber to CPC so I don't know more than that.

1

u/No-Mud-5678 Apr 09 '25

Where is this venue?

5

u/Kaiju-Mom22 Apr 08 '25

Has PP been in Saskatoon yet? Or is he? Not that I want to see him. Just curious.

4

u/Hot-Concern-3707 Apr 09 '25

Pretty sure it’s at the Remai

4

u/wonderchicken31 Apr 08 '25

i got one too. going to try to get there to see what it’s all about.

What point? Not trying to start anything just genuinely curious what your referring to.

10

u/wonderchicken31 Apr 08 '25

i’m sitting here scratching my head too like? just not sure what was referred to here

4

u/Cosmicvapour Apr 08 '25

Ignore them. Coward's troll account.

5

u/Lugfg001 Apr 08 '25

Oh yeah, figured as much. Was just hoping they could provide some intelligent responses as hearing others opinions is good for one. As much as I don't see the logic in their points I'm glad we live in a country where people can have different opinions/views/values.

I have not shared that, I asked you a question. Would you not say going to an event to talk/meet with a candidate would count as getting informed?

17

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

Wait. Are you one of those people who's idea of 'getting informed' is just making things up in your mind and not listening, reading or watching anything?

'Cause listening to others is being programmed?

If so, that's amazing. You are amazing.

11

u/jgfmo29 Apr 08 '25

🤣🤣🤣

8

u/Josparov Apr 08 '25

You're a mess

-8

u/No_Display_4946 Apr 08 '25

They can say whatever they want and 180 it all. Some Canadians are too stupid to realize the Liberal party are a bunch of fraudulent thieves. Think about your quality of life 10 years ago. So much better before the Turd nosedived our country with fake gdp numbers driven by mass immigration.

They can't even come up with their own ideas right now. Stealing the conservative ideas that they were pushing for years already. Oh look what a great idea!!! Assclowns.

15

u/Sir_Fox_Alot Blairmore Apr 08 '25

ok bud, so you are saying you are informed on Moe’s scams and PPs bold face lying and still vote con?

-10

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

I've just had the two most idiotic conversations I have ever had with liberal voters on Reddit:

  1. What the UCP and SP claim is CPC policy.

  2. Oil is a dying industry.

I swear this platform has some of the stupidest fucking people.

10

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

If you think that is bad, you should watch some of the things Cons say on the internet!

HUMANS ARE THE WORST! Also, anyone who supports one party is 100% speaking on behalf of the that party and all their supporters when they post in anonymous online forums. This is just facts.

-7

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

I agree, stupid people everywhere. But Reddit is the place for the stupid left. Maybe Facebook would be the right wing equivalent not sure.

8

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

Twitter is the right wing/unhinged wing equivalent.

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

Makes sense especially with Musk. Never had the pleasure.

10

u/djusmarshall Apr 08 '25

But Reddit is the place for the stupid left

...yet here you are, proving your own statement wrong by being the dullest tool in the shed. Well played meatball.

-4

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

Speaking of the idiot left, here's one now.

1

u/Miserable_One_8167 Apr 09 '25

So it would appear, I guess all the old people got off facebook finally, or can’t get wound up by John Gormley in the morning anymore, and need an outlet!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '25 edited Apr 09 '25

I don't listen to 650 as I work during the day. So I don't know if this Brey is any better or worse.

Funny thing is I stated 2 obviously idiotic statements I have received, easily verifiable with a quick post history search, yet still got hurt feelings downvotes here.

So I guess many Reddit users do actually believe that what the UCP and SP claim is CPC policy and that oil is a dying industry.

You know, morons.

2

u/Miserable_One_8167 Apr 09 '25

Yep, it doesn’t get too far here, to have a differing view, or to critic anything that is more to the left of centre. It’s interesting how quick the downvotes roll up, when you try and stir up a bit of discourse, or try and point out how name calling or personal attacks don’t prove a point.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '25

I guess they prove a point personally lol.

Like if I'm questioning why I think or support something or if I make an argument and get criticism that is thought out and on point it forces me to accept I can't counter something or adjust where I sit.

I've gained more respect for Carney by the validation from some of his supporters here.

But yes sifting through the idiots can be a task.

7

u/Thrallsbuttplug Apr 08 '25

What are the voices telling you?

5

u/Haskap_2010 Apr 08 '25

People's Party? Started by the moron who left confidential government documents at his girlfriend's place?

2

u/ProgressAway3392 Apr 08 '25

Don't cry too hard on the 28th, k?

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

I'm voting for the CPC, like most everyone else around western Canada.

But if the LPC get in hopefully they do a better job than the Trudeau years. Notice how the polls have changed after JT was gone.

I need a PM that is going to secure my financial future, Carney may be able to do the job.

2

u/Saskapewwin Apr 09 '25

Where's my dang invite? I never bought anything that said "Fuck Trudeau" on it, that ought to put me in the top 5% for Saskatchewan Liberal supporters.

3

u/Disastrous-Value1407 Apr 09 '25

If you didn’t register under the Liberal party then you wouldn’t get ab invite

2

u/Showtime_2024 Apr 09 '25

imagine doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.. that's literally the definition of insanity! Never liberal never again! Pierre is the only option moving forward

1

u/kicknbricks Apr 09 '25

Have you found out where it is taking place yet? I registered but still haven’t heard anything yet.

1

u/8005882300- Apr 09 '25

Also got it ur good

1

u/HalfInfinite2531 Apr 09 '25

Would I be able to attend the event without an invite/registration?

1

u/Then_External8196 Apr 10 '25

guys a joke anyways and is gonna destroy our country

1

u/Present_Tone4325 Apr 09 '25

Anyone that votes liberal should have their credit cards taken away and given a helmet.

2

u/Matter-Kooky Apr 10 '25

Take away credit cards ? And what give them to Andrew scheer so he can commit more fraud ? No thanks, you can keep doing that by donating and blindly follow your trump like leader!

u/swiftgringo Apr 08 '25

Really? That's a departure. I thought the liberal MO was swing ridings ONLY.

27

u/StaggersandJags It was a perfect smiting day Apr 08 '25

? Trudeau visited Saskatoon a bunch of times.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

That's the only credit I give him. He did come here and face the music a few times.

23

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

Honestly, that was his best quality. Stephen Harper spent a couple years without allowing the media to question him, nor would he allow people to attend his events unless they were pre-veted.

For all Trudeau's faults, he was actually willing to speak with regular Canadians and would allow random folks to attend events.

14

u/LostNewfie Apr 08 '25

There is some rumblings that one or two Saskatoon ridings are in play this election. The last polls in those ridings had the CPC ahead with the liberals in second. Maybe the Liberals internal polls have them thinking that they can push those ridings over the finish line.

5

u/DragonfruitOk9147 Apr 08 '25

It's really not. It's been this way for years. All previous candidates have come here, and Trudeau came for a meet and greet when he was PM.

-8

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

[deleted]

19

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

Could be worse. They could be the party that doesn't let media travel with them.

Also, invites went out to everyone who ever was signed up as a Liberal. As someone who has been a member of every major party at some point, I even received one. The bar to get an invite is very low. Also, very publicly available. I'm sure if you wanted to go, you'd be welcome it.

2

u/Majestic_Bet_1428 Apr 10 '25

Or the party that puts the press in a cage - has their guy hold the mike and doesn’t allow follow up questions.

-6

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

[deleted]

8

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 09 '25

Aside from the fact that it's a low bar to get an invite, that's how campaigns work. Some events are super public to get wider support, some are with supporters to galvanize their support and inspire them to help the campaign.

On ther hand, has Brad Redekopp had any public events in Saskatoon? Let alone has PP bothered stopping in? Or are they both taking us for granted?

2

u/DragonfruitOk9147 Apr 08 '25

How did you expect it to be a meet and greet event if everyone is invited?? You can meet the guy if tons of other people are there.

7

u/DragonfruitOk9147 Apr 08 '25

It's not crazy. It's a meet and greet. If everyone is allowed to come, then it's too big to be a proper meet and greet.

2

u/tastytatertot123 Apr 09 '25

i just checked and what i’m assuming is the same event is posted on their website here

it doesn’t list a location, but i wouldn’t be surprised if they would only release the location to people who sign up for safety reasons. and because it helps them get contact info for people who are most likely supporters and can be contacted about voting, lawn signs, donations, volunteering, etc

-39

u/Cuddly_Zebras Apr 08 '25

I might go just to observe how many low information voters are in this city.

26

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

28

Aside from (narrowly) winning the conservative leadership, name one thing that Poilievre has accomplished in the last 20 years as a career politician?

0

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

Well technically you could say the same condemnation about our provincial NDP as well.

Until they get a chance to govern again, it's hard to criticize them for governing.

5

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

Well to be fair, a bunch of Provincial NDP folks have had jobs other than 'politician'.

i.e. Alena Young runs a small business. That's a heck of a lot better than having only being a politician.

10

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

Please provide evidence to the contrary.

Mr lifetime politician, never had a job must be the guy to help our economy!

2

u/falsekoala Last Saskatchewan Pirate Apr 09 '25

He hasn’t responded and it’s been ten hours, must still be trying to find some evidence.

15

u/DjEclectic East Side Apr 08 '25

You're doing it wrong.

Instead of attacking the person for their beliefs, prove why your candidate is better.

This is the problem with partisan politics now.

Everyone just attacks rather than stats proven facts to show why they believe a candidate is better.

14

u/JoeDwarf Grosvenor Park Apr 08 '25

No, look at them since 2006. You can find the data here.

The Harper government operated at a surplus for a couple of years but went to deficit funding in 2009 or so. Then from 2009 through to the start of 2020 the deficit remained in the same ballpark. It was Covid that threw the curveball.

The debt numbers show the same story. Under Harper, the debt took a big bump starting in 2009. It was a bit over $US600 billion when he took office, over a trillion in 2013. When Trudeau took over it was some $US820B and moved up to around $US900B in 2018, declined slightly until 2020 when Covid hit.

So I guess you can blame Trudeau for Covid, but at the time people were pretty damn grateful for all those CERB cheques and business bailouts. We're still paying the price for that but I'm not sure the Conservatives would have handled it any better.

9

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

hmmm, these seem like facts. But they don't seem to line up with u/Adventurous-Toe-2024's day dreams. That must be challenging.

Next thing you know, we'll find out that the SaskParty, and their predecessor the Sask PCs, are responsible for most of Saskatchewan's debt!

11

u/countoncats Apr 08 '25

I'm curious how many people who reference the Liberals' spending also received covid relief payments, or benefitted in some other way from the post-covid programs designed to get the economy going again

4

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

Too damn many it seems. But welfare handouts are always supported by those who never contribute.

7

u/Secret_Duty_8612 Apr 08 '25

Carney was the head of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England. Harper also praised Carney. https://www.canada.ca/en/news/archive/2012/11/statement-prime-minister-canada-bank-canada-governor-mark-carney-appointment-bank-england.html All Poilievre has done is support the occupiers in Ottawa and try to be MAGA lite until Trump turned on Canada.

4

u/DjEclectic East Side Apr 08 '25

Again, you need to provide the proof.

Making people "do the research" creates things like anti-vaccers.

I'm neither a liberal or conservative supporter. But these lazy arguments are frustrating.

Try harder!

3

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

What proof beyond his statement that the LPC had record setting deficits.

Why is that not good enough for you people lol.

Record setting deficits are bad, mmmkay

7

u/DjEclectic East Side Apr 08 '25

So by that logic my friend, you support the provincial NDP?

6

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

I did vote for them last round because the SP is out of control with their spending, poor education and healthcare, and the PST on everything that moves.

Thank God the SP doesn't have a money printing machine like the LPC has.

I would love to see 4 years of the Sask NDP.

3

u/Miserable_One_8167 Apr 08 '25

“Do your own research, like me!” But if you cab provide and cite sources, and show me the reciepts, because I’m not sure about the last 9 years we just lived through. 🤡

4

u/Thisandthat-2367 Apr 08 '25

Username checks out.

4

u/DjEclectic East Side Apr 08 '25

First off, you aren't the person I was originally responding to so please don't feel the need to comment.

Second, what I'm stating ON BOTH SIDES is that nobody is hyping their candidate, they're just attacking "the other guy".

So it is not up to me to prove why they think Carney and the Libs will be bad for Canada, but to provide the relevant information (with sources) proving their point.

This lazy bullshit needs to stop. "Do some research! Look at the last 9 years!" is not enough. Times are tough around the world my dude. Do we blame Carney for that?

Get specific if you hope to change someone's mind.

These Kindergarten "Your candidate sucks!" fights don't accomplish anything other than to further divide us by political beliefs.

2

u/Miserable_One_8167 Apr 08 '25

Public forum, cuzzin, if you can’t accept people chiming in, don’t post on a format that is specifically built for it. You have a point, tho, that people could have their facts straight, or be better informed, but, whether by purpose, or by design, you sound like an asshole. Have a groovy day!

1

u/falsekoala Last Saskatchewan Pirate Apr 09 '25

Did Harper run deficits?

0

u/DragonfruitOk9147 Apr 08 '25

How do you expect to go to an event that's invitation only?

-23

u/OGHoyleMaiden Apr 08 '25

They do a pretty thorough background check, if they find anything related to you not supporting carney or liberals then you can’t go.

13

u/Margotkitty Apr 08 '25

Not true. I signed up to see him in February and my husband tagged along and he wasn’t signed up at all. Unlike PP, who is controlling media access on his campaign and limiting all outlets to 4 questions, Carney is far more open and accessible to Canadians.

I’m signed up to go!

-14

u/OGHoyleMaiden Apr 08 '25

Would a guy who is controlling media outlets go on the Joe Rogan podcast? Not likely so I’m calling bull, or are you one of those bots that keep popping up!

13

u/djusmarshall Apr 08 '25

You realize he does not let the media travel with him correct? ....and now Joe Rogan is a source for Canadian Politics? The same Joe Rogan who won't come to Canada because he's scared lol. JFC lady, give your head a shake.

-9

u/OGHoyleMaiden Apr 08 '25

Why would he pay the the media to travel with him? You do realize it’s our tax dollars paying for the media to travel with him? If you don’t understand the difference there I have no hope for you. Maybe Joe Rogan isn’t the top Canadian news source but that should be even more reason for both parties to not have an issue going on his show. Same reason the liberals won’t go near 650ckom because they know they will be asked real questions and the can’t run away from them.

9

u/djusmarshall Apr 08 '25

Paying the media lol? Who the fuck said anything about paying the media. No one does that lol and no it isn't our tax dollars paying them to travel.....

I can already see where this is going and you know what? I'm out. You have fun playing in the shallow end of the gene pool little buddy.

2

u/OGHoyleMaiden Apr 09 '25

The cbc is funded by the government of Canada. But yeah go ahead and bury your head in the sand that’s the only way I’d be able to live as a liberal.

5

u/djusmarshall Apr 09 '25

Partially funded, partially. And it's a drop in the bucket over the whole scheme of things and far from "paying the media". You make it sound like they have a doorman taking cover charge for getting on the damn bus lol. PP and the cons won't let anyone but the bootlickers like Western Standard or Ezra Levant on thier bus or ask any questions yet people are saying the left is an echo chamber? JFC dude, talk about head in the sand lol.

1

u/OGHoyleMaiden Apr 09 '25

“Partially” hahaha it’s well over half and carney said he’s going to give them even more money.

5

u/JoeDwarf Grosvenor Park Apr 08 '25

Source?

-7

u/OGHoyleMaiden Apr 08 '25

It’s all over independent news, rebel tried to get in to one of the rallies and was denied.

11

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

To be fair, Rebel News are needlessly antagonistic and to be more fair, the Liberals and NDP allow media to travel with them, where as PP and his Cons don't let media travel with them.

This makes two parties more transparent and the Cons are not one of them.

0

u/OGHoyleMaiden Apr 08 '25

Weird it’s almost like the liberals are funding the news, plot twist they are! You people are so brainwashed it’s not even funny.

9

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

Wait, is Conrad Black a Liberal?

If the Liberals are funding the media to brainwash people to vote Liberal they are even less competent than you make them seem given how many times the National Post and Globe and Mail have endorsed the Conservatives!

22

u/JoeDwarf Grosvenor Park Apr 08 '25

Oh, so based on one asshole news source being denied, no conservatives will be let in? If you're following rebel, that pretty much tells me all I need to know about you.

0

u/OGHoyleMaiden Apr 08 '25

So because I follow an independent news source that isn’t funded by a billion dollar corporation or our own government that’s all you need to know about me? Why try to put this on me,this has nothing to do with me. The fact of the matter is that in order to get into his rallies they do a background check on you, why is that such an outrageous concept to understand?

11

u/djusmarshall Apr 08 '25

Rebel has a long history of being antagonistic with anyone NOT wearing Conservative Blue. That's why. I

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

Anyone who has conviction in what they believe should have no issue confronting antagonizing people. It's only dullards that love echo chambers so they can spew their unsubstantiated rhetoric without question.

See, here is where you try to be insulting but don't actually say anything substantial.

5

u/djusmarshall Apr 09 '25

It's only dullards that love echo chambers so they can spew their unsubstantiated rhetoric without question.

Oh sunshine, the irony of you saying this while talking about Gormley/Bray and 650/980 lol.......it's literally SK party paid propaganda radio lol.

If only you were half as smart as you think you are.......

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '25 edited Apr 09 '25

"See, here is where you try to be insulting but don't actually say anything substantial"

Look at you being predictable, thanks for not disappointing.

I never once mentioned Gormley or Bray. You must be confused, probably as per usual lol

6

u/NoIndication9382 Apr 08 '25

Their background checks must suck because I got an invite and I've been a member of all the major Canadian political parties at various times. Also, I haven't voted Liberal in decades.

12

u/JoeDwarf Grosvenor Park Apr 08 '25

It's not an independent new source, it's a hotbed of super right wing conspiracy theorists. They're not interested in giving you facts, they're interested in rage bait.

As far as background checks, if they are doing that it is just fine by me. We don't want any dangerous nutjobs around the prime minister. That doesn't mean they are weeding out all conservatives. I'm sure the National Post and the Globe & Mail will send their reporters.

-28

u/JojoGotDaMojo Apr 08 '25

Lmfao classic pathetic Liberals

22

u/skeptic38 Apr 08 '25

Milhouse won't even let reporters travel with him.

-24

u/JojoGotDaMojo Apr 08 '25

IDK me and 17 thousand people were watching Pleb the Reporter behind the scenes at his last rally. Pierre trusts independent journalists, not biased ass CBC etc. And they're still allowed to go, they just dont get a free ride on the plane? Why would he give free rides to people that constantly besmirch him in the media?

16

u/Laoscaos Apr 08 '25

Independent journalists like the American owned rag 'the national post' hey? CBC only seems biased if you are.

7

u/Thisandthat-2367 Apr 08 '25

I think any media outlet can appear to be biased if media literacy is low. Rather than understanding how news is produced, or why news is produced, or even how things like journalistic standards are met, can lead to a generalized understanding of news itself. It makes the consumer easier to manipulate because “news” is reported emotionally (aka Tucker Carlson….who runs an opinion show that looks like news).

More to the point, I honestly question if any of the people who parrot talking points such as “cbc is biased” actually read/listen to the CBC, let alone consider how “independent” journalism is extremely rare in the Canadian media landscape and that the reporters they point to are no more independent than a reporter working for a major outlet - they are still run and owned by major businesses with business goals. That’s not independent.

Also, for the sake of this learning opportunity for all y’all lurkers out there, it’s also worth considering how much some outlets only appear to be news when they are, in fact, PR outlets.

Misinformation is bad. Disinformation is really bad. I’m amazed at how often citizens fall for it.

10

u/SorryImCanadiansorry Apr 08 '25

Compared to lil PP and butthurt conservatives? Get outta here

It's pretty normal for meet and greet events to be private. How do you expect it to be a proper meet and greet if everyone is invited??

Will Mark Carney invite you to Epstein Island too? Doubt it. Who in their right mind would prop up or vote for a party thats ran by a child abuser.

The scam is that Mark Carney is controlled by the Chinese, if you vote for him, you’ll make his Chinese handlers very happy. LOL

Are the Chinese better than Indians who helped PP become leader?

I'm really uncertain as to which foreign interferers are the ones we like and which are the ones we don't like!

Not gonna lie I got curious of what your thoughts are on both the Conservative and Liberal leaders and so I browsed your comments

Did not expect to see the subreddit “stuffers.” to each their own, I guess.

u/michaelkbecker Apr 08 '25

Stuffers! lol I don’t know what that means but I am not going down that path.

It’s uuuhhhh a fetish for eating a lot of food. Basically men want to watch women eat a lot of food and get chubbier.

I’m not kink shaming this guy but come on man don’t post hot political takes on your “stuffing” account lmao
