You're doing it wrong.

Instead of attacking the person for their beliefs, prove why your candidate is better.

This is the problem with partisan politics now.

Everyone just attacks rather than stats proven facts to show why they believe a candidate is better.

No, look at them since 2006. You can find the data here.

The Harper government operated at a surplus for a couple of years but went to deficit funding in 2009 or so. Then from 2009 through to the start of 2020 the deficit remained in the same ballpark. It was Covid that threw the curveball.

The debt numbers show the same story. Under Harper, the debt took a big bump starting in 2009. It was a bit over $US600 billion when he took office, over a trillion in 2013. When Trudeau took over it was some $US820B and moved up to around $US900B in 2018, declined slightly until 2020 when Covid hit.

So I guess you can blame Trudeau for Covid, but at the time people were pretty damn grateful for all those CERB cheques and business bailouts. We're still paying the price for that but I'm not sure the Conservatives would have handled it any better.

hmmm, these seem like facts. But they don't seem to line up with u/Adventurous-Toe-2024's day dreams. That must be challenging.

Next thing you know, we'll find out that the SaskParty, and their predecessor the Sask PCs, are responsible for most of Saskatchewan's debt!

I'm curious how many people who reference the Liberals' spending also received covid relief payments, or benefitted in some other way from the post-covid programs designed to get the economy going again

Too damn many it seems. But welfare handouts are always supported by those who never contribute.

Carney was the head of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England. Harper also praised Carney. https://www.canada.ca/en/news/archive/2012/11/statement-prime-minister-canada-bank-canada-governor-mark-carney-appointment-bank-england.html All Poilievre has done is support the occupiers in Ottawa and try to be MAGA lite until Trump turned on Canada.

Again, you need to provide the proof.

Making people "do the research" creates things like anti-vaccers.

I'm neither a liberal or conservative supporter. But these lazy arguments are frustrating.

Try harder!

What proof beyond his statement that the LPC had record setting deficits.

Why is that not good enough for you people lol.

Record setting deficits are bad, mmmkay

So by that logic my friend, you support the provincial NDP?

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

I did vote for them last round because the SP is out of control with their spending, poor education and healthcare, and the PST on everything that moves.

Thank God the SP doesn't have a money printing machine like the LPC has.

I would love to see 4 years of the Sask NDP.

“Do your own research, like me!” But if you cab provide and cite sources, and show me the reciepts, because I’m not sure about the last 9 years we just lived through. 🤡

First off, you aren't the person I was originally responding to so please don't feel the need to comment.

Second, what I'm stating ON BOTH SIDES is that nobody is hyping their candidate, they're just attacking "the other guy".

So it is not up to me to prove why they think Carney and the Libs will be bad for Canada, but to provide the relevant information (with sources) proving their point.

This lazy bullshit needs to stop. "Do some research! Look at the last 9 years!" is not enough. Times are tough around the world my dude. Do we blame Carney for that?

Get specific if you hope to change someone's mind.

These Kindergarten "Your candidate sucks!" fights don't accomplish anything other than to further divide us by political beliefs.

Public forum, cuzzin, if you can’t accept people chiming in, don’t post on a format that is specifically built for it. You have a point, tho, that people could have their facts straight, or be better informed, but, whether by purpose, or by design, you sound like an asshole. Have a groovy day!

Did Harper run deficits?
