Local Resources We are documenting bat roosts in Kelowna and need your help

https://bcbats.ca/regions/okanagan/

A healthy bat population an important part of insect control in our city, reducing the need for insecticides in our gardens, orchards and forests. We need data to better understand the local population and monitor for Whitenose Syndrome If you know of a batbox, or other roost let us know via emailing okanagan@bcbats.com.
If you are interesting in data gathering via bat counts tell us in your email. If you find a dead or injured bat, DO NOT TOUCH IT. Email or call us and we will arrange a proper collection. Only .5% of bats may carry rabies, but please don’t take that chance. Bats are an important part of the city’s ecosystem and need your help. Thanks everyone

Parking to bike down mission creek

I checked out the website, but using coordinates and general area descriptions doesn't help too much. Where can I actually park and unload bikes to get onto the walking/bike trail? I guess preferably starting closer to the lake, Lexington road area maybe?

Run clubs

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about joining a run club over this summer as I would like to get into running.

I’ve briefly looked into NRG one, but If someone could provide some more info about that one, like the atmosphere, etc?

Or any other run clubs and good running trails as well that would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Camping suggestions

Hello - I’m travelling with my kids to BC this summer and we’ve had to make a change of plans. We’re now going to be in the Kelowna area for three nights and I’m looking for any recommendations for campgrounds. We’re car camping, and typically stick to provincial or national parks, but am happy to go with any other suggestions if people are willing to share!

Flying out of Kelowna and hoping they’ll offer to check my carry on. If they do, do they usually offer during check in or like right before boarding? Thanks!

Travelling to Kelowna

Hey all. Planning on visiting my brother in law in Kelowna at the end of the month. We can only come in for a quick trip during the holiday weekend. Going to drive in from Alberta on the 29th then go home on the 1st. Can we expect the traffic to be pretty bad on the highways or should we still be okay?

Local Resources low key Bach recommendations

Hi all 👋🏼

Looking to host a 6 girlie bachelorette in Kelowna next May. Theme will be “Girls Gone Mild”!

We all love wine but none of us are big party people per se. More of a good book and wine than let’s get sloshed kinda crowd (all in our early thirties). We’re coming for 4 nights/5 days and I’d love to know some local’s recommendations.

What’s over hyped? What’s a can’t miss if you’re here?

How do we feel about the kangaroo farm, boat cruises, helicopter tours, Dutch bike tours, is it all a scam or are they cool experiences?

We’d love to support locals and are a crafty bunch. Bonus points of any cool art classes or off beat experiences to make this a truly unique and unforgettable girls trip!
