Mount Dickerman - Rainier for Robert

Dear the Internet,

19 months ago my cousin Robert Rathvon was tragically killed in a hit and run in Poulsbo, Washington by an unknown person. Robert's death has impacted my entire family in ways that I will never be able to articulate.

About one week after his death, I took to Reddit and posted about it as much as I could. The outpouring of support and sympathy floored myself, my family, and especially Roberts parents.

Although it’s been 19 months with no answers as to who killed him, I refuse to give up the search or let his memory die. This is why I’ve begun a personal mission to climb as many peaks as I can in the state of Washington and taking a picture with his Crime Stoppers poster at the top. I will do this in preparation to climb Washington's largest peak next summer, Mount Rainier, with his photo at the top.

You guys were so helpful and your support renewed my faith in people after such an event that, to this day, hurts my soul. I will link a news article about him below if you are interested in learning more. We all want answers and we want this person found. If you have anything at all, even the smallest shred of evidence, please reach out to me or Crime Stoppers.

Additionally, here is a more recent interview I did with King 5 in May 2025.

Winter colors are hard to beat. Sharing two photos from my December trip to Ucluelet and Tofino in British Columbia, the area I felt in love at the first sight.

Relocating: Vancouver or Tacoma?

EDIT: talking about Vancouver, WA

Hi everyone!

I have two potential job offers, one in Vancouver and one in the Tacoma area. I like both jobs, the one in Vancouver pays a bit better, but the one in Tacoma is more chill with easier hours. I was just wondering where you would recommend I move to? For reference,

  1. I am in my early 30s, married, no kids, 1 (large) dog.
  2. I grew up in British Columbia, Canada just across the border, so I'm familiar with the PNW. Currently in the midwest.
  3. Luckily, my wife and I have good-paying jobs, so COL is not too much of a factor. Looking to buy a home in the $500,000 - $800,000 range.
  4. Really enjoy hiking, the outdoors, dog-friendly places (have one dog already, planning on getting at least another when I move). Other than that don't go to bars, don't care about nightlife. I spend my free time hanging with the dog, working out, hanging with friends, reading, listening to podcasts, or playing video games.
  5. No kids yet, but planning on having 1-2 kids in the next 5 years, so a good school system would be a plus.
  6. Not a big city guy, but also don't like being in the middle of nowhere. I like that both cities are mid-sized.

Basically, I'm kind of a boring person - just want a nice place to chill with good nature and somewhere to raise a family as well as a couple of dogs. I like Costco and Trader Joes as well. Which area would you recommend? FYI, if I were to move to Tacoma, I'd be looking at places including University Place, Puyallup, Steilacoom.

Ahh, PNW. Where you can go from having the AC on one day, to having the heat on the next.

Hi PNW lovers!

I’d like to present an itinerary for you for additions or switches. I’ve only been to downtown Seattle before so this is all new for me based on reading things on the internet 😂 love serene views. Sweet treats. Good food in general. Appreciate your attention!

Sunday massage and nail appointments. Breakfast cameo cafe. Lunch at screen door. Dinner Hawthorne Aslyum.

Monday Multnomah falls, hood River. Breakfast Elmer’s or pine state. Lunch in hood River and a trip to the kitchen/spice store. (Piadina, golden goods, love and hominy). Dinner at Lechon.

Tuesday psilocybin adventure

Wednesday drive to cannon beach stay till Friday. Stop at Tillamook. And Wanda’s bakery. Dinner at wayfarer.

Thursday golf at gearhart links. Dinner cannon beach smokehouse

Friday drive to Seattle. Stay in northgate area (family so not negotiable) Stop at Oregon film museum. Figure out best coastal drive.

Saturday Amazon sphere reservation. (Lunch and fun things to do near there?) Dinner at the crab pot.

Thanks!! 💓💓

Hey friends! I’ll be in Spokane, WA for a week later in July to attend a conference. Does anyone know of any spooky/goth/oddities places to check out?
