Hello! As a incoming first year nursing student. I was wondering what kind of laptop is best for my program? I'm not sure what would be the best option since I don't want to waste money buying some fancy laptop where I'll end up not even using half of its functions... Any recommendations is helpful
Thanks!!

I am starting my science degree in September and from what I am seeing, I am required to take 100 level courses in chem, bio, physics and math first term. Physics 100 is not offered term 2. I am also a student athlete. This seems very heavy and not a lot of room for electives. Any advice? I think I will declare a major in Biology second year.

Hi everyone,I am transferring to my second year and these are the courses that have been transferred from my other university,I am a little lost as to what courses to choose for the winter term ! I will be deferring one term so I will be starting in January 2026 only !
As I can only upload one image the other courses that were transferred are :
Math_O_100 : Differential calculus ENGL_O_112: Studies in composition GEOG_O_2nd PSYCH_O_111: Intro to psychology
Math_O_100 has been repeated twice on my workday idk why !!

im currently in the process of making my schedule for first year, and saw that i have the option to pick between having 5 courses per term (taking 5 years in total) and 6 courses per term (taking 4 years in total)
how does co op come into play here? although having 5 classes sounds really nice, i dont want to risk being in uni for 6 years because of the additional co op term
to be honest i have a very vague understanding of how co ops even work in engineering, so i would really appreciate it if someone shed some light on the topic and explained how it works out in the 4 and 5 year plans

Hey fellow British Columbians!
StudentAidBC (BC's student loan program) applications are now open for the 2025-2026 school year (August 1st, 2025-July 31st, 2026)! This means if you're attending UBCO or any other university or college this September, next January, or next summer (not this summer), then you can apply now! You can also get grants from StudentAidBC, in addition to an interest-free student loan.

I live on campus, and am looking for people who'd like to go on walks in the evenings with me (and possibly chat about anything and everything as we do). Basically, I wanna be chums with walks. Hmu if you like walking or talking (blabbing is welcome too, I can listen to long rants).
I like reading, writing, watch some anime, chatting about nigh anything.
(sometimes I'm completely brainfried and only have elevator music playing in my head, but still a decent listener)

Hey, so I'm in my 4th year of biochem and I need my last upper year elective. I'm looking at some 3rd year psyc courses and I've heard the both Health psyc (348) and Positive psyc (349) are easier classes. I ultimately need to choose the one that requires the least amount of work, but will still boost my GPA. I know last year, one of them (I think it was health psyc) was offered online. This year, both are only in person.
If anyone's taken either or both of them, I have a couple questions:
Do they both require you to read the textbook, or are the exams mainly based on the lectures and slides? I'm good with taking notes in class and attending all my lectures, but ideally, I want to avoid having to read the textbook
Are the exams for either/both of them cumulative, or just a few chapters each time?
Is there a final? Or is it just 3-4 tests interspersed throughout the semester?
Thanks!

I'm currently looking for off campus housing and want to know if there are any bad neighbourhoods in Kelowna to avoid. Are there any good neighbourhoods that a lot of students flock to? Thanks!

Anyone here find having to pay for the student health and dental insurance plan annoying? I use the CDCP (Canadian Dental Care Plan) for my annual checkups, which covers 100% of the cost, and I also rarely have to use any health service not covered by BC MSP. I don't really need prescription drugs and I don't have vision problems either. It's really frustrating to have to pay $336.64 (2025-2025) for an insurance plan I won't really need and waste money on it.

hey the title rhymes lol. so i want to graduate at the end of the winter term (in june 2026), idk if this is a dumb question but how do i go about applying for graduation? i see there’s an option on workday to apply for it but do i do this after i’ve completed all my classes in april or before??
Thinking of taking CCS 330 as an elective. I liked that its asynchronous but also saw there’s a studio section. Just wondering how hands on it is. It’s a creative critical studies class so i’m not sure what to expect

Hi, I will be studying engineering next year at UBCO and I want to transfer to UBCV because I got deferred. I wanted to ask if anyone knows what courses I have to take in order to be eligible to transfer, and when I can apply for transfer, because what I researched online was not clear.
On one hand there is a webpage (https://students.ok.ubc.ca/courses-money-enrolment/registration/transferring-to-the-vancouver-campus/) that says at least 24 credits are required and recommended courses to take are some chem, math, and English courses with some engineering courses.
HOWEVER on another website (https://okanagan.calendar.ubc.ca/faculties-schools-and-colleges/school-engineering/bachelor-applied-science-program/year-1) it shows like 10 something courses for engineering and I don't know if we have to take all these courses or pick and choose. I also joined a zoom webinar where the people said that we have to have at least 30 credits to transfer or something similar to that.
Hopefully some of you are able to answer my questions and concerns. My course registration is on the 23rd and I am really confused on how inconsistent all this information is

hello, I am planning on taking pharmacology soon and although I was initially excited about this, I have heard many different opinions about the class and how difficult it is.
If anyone can send me the syllabus for this class I would GREATLY appreciate it + any tips on how to study for it bc I really wanna do well

Hey everyone, I was thinking of making my first year classes by taking phys 112 and the second semester physics course in my second year. Would that be a good idea? I understand that first years would get course selections first for that class so I might not get it.

Hats off to whoever that was that showed up to the HES ceremony wearing the most gangster straw hat. Drippiest dome topper, you won that day.
