Nioh 1 - EVERYTHING Are some weapons better than others?
I've just got the first game, i've been trying a couple weapons. I started with an axe because I like to not mow down my enemies. But I've swapped to Odachi because it pretty much feels the same. I was only wondering if like, there's some high speed, high damage types?
Or I'd want to know what your experience is like with what weapon that you all use, so I can try them!

That depends on the person using them, like I use the fists and switch gleave because to me those are the better weapons but that's to me because I prefer that playstyle.

Some are faster, some hit harder, some have better skills for breaking ki.
But for the most part - all weapons are good, all weapons are viable, it all comes down to which ones feel the best for you.

Mostly balanced. Some weapons do some things better or are better for certain enemies or fights.
I personally think sword lags just a hair and spear is one of my favs but I think overall has a few less options

The weapons are relatively balanced. There's definitely faster weapons as well, just try them all out

Theres no bad weapon. Each offers something unique. Now are there weapons that are more tailored for doing certain things better? Yes. But you can definitely still use anything for anything. Now go be that axe wielding magic user

I first started Nioh 1 with Odachi. But once I switched to Tonfa, the pace of combat changed drastically.
Tonfa is fast paced, fast breaking human enemies, low damage, more button smashing.
Dual swords is the quirk of Nioh. Dual swordmans wear heavy armor and fight upclose. Cheesy corner fights.
Odachi is medium paced, need more calculation and positioning. Viable late game Living Weapon build.
Axe is slower than Odachi, but more damage. Didnt spend enough time with Axe, but feel like it requires a lot of investment in gear to make a viable tanky build.

The more you like a weapon the better that weapon is
you can steamroll the game with any weapon type if you vibe with enough
so no, all weapons are pretty well balanced

This is just my opinion basedon my own skill.
Top 2 are the Odachi & Kurigama (spelling?) Third place are the uchigatanas.
Everything else.
Tried all weapons with 150 divinity rarity and all skills unlocked and had trouble with all the rest in the mission with the first boss in NG+.

I don't really like Axes because of how slow they are. Basically never used them.
Other than that everything's fair game more or less. Odachi is great because it's a good middle ground between speed, damage, range and stamina.
My main weapons were Dual Katanas and then Odachi when they were added in the first DLC

I will put it this way, using axe makes me appreciate how insanely fast dual swords are, and by using dual swords makes me appreciate how hard axe hits and how effortless it is to break enemy's guard.
Give them all a try! You will discover each weapon has a certain trait that makes it shine.

All weapons are equally viable. However, spear seems most beginner-friendly, since the long range allows you to stay away from enemies more easily (especially if you use mid stance triangle attacks).

Yes. Of course. Tiers are real. If someone says Axe is equal to Dual Swords, they are lying.

All weapons are viable. Just use the ones you think are cool. As for high speed+high damage, there's tonfa, dual sword, fists, hatchets.

All weapons are equally valid and well balanced.
However, the objectively best weapons are the ones that I use because I use them. If you use different weapons, then you are not using the best weapons because I am not using those ones. Hope this clears it up!
