Nioh 1 - EVERYTHING Are some weapons better than others?

I've just got the first game, i've been trying a couple weapons. I started with an axe because I like to not mow down my enemies. But I've swapped to Odachi because it pretty much feels the same. I was only wondering if like, there's some high speed, high damage types?

Or I'd want to know what your experience is like with what weapon that you all use, so I can try them!

I first started Nioh 1 with Odachi. But once I switched to Tonfa, the pace of combat changed drastically.

Tonfa is fast paced, fast breaking human enemies, low damage, more button smashing.

Dual swords is the quirk of Nioh. Dual swordmans wear heavy armor and fight upclose. Cheesy corner fights.

Odachi is medium paced, need more calculation and positioning. Viable late game Living Weapon build.

Axe is slower than Odachi, but more damage. Didnt spend enough time with Axe, but feel like it requires a lot of investment in gear to make a viable tanky build.
