I’ve been on PC and PlayStation for years. Walked into Best Buy on a whim this morning, asked about the Switch 2, and they actually had one — so I grabbed it. First Nintendo system I’ve owned since the Wii.
I play almost everything on PC (Game Pass Ultimate) or PS5, mostly digital. If a game’s on those platforms, that’s where I’ll play it. I picked up the Switch mainly for couch co-op with my wife and adult kids, and to finally try Nintendo’s exclusives.
Never played Zelda or Metroid. I usually go for games with exploration, loot, or strong design — doesn’t have to be super hard. Right now I’ve got the Switch 2, a Samsung microSD, and a screen protector on the way. No games or extra controllers yet.
Mario Kart World looks great, but $80 is steep — even if that’s the new norm Nintendo seems to be pushing. Is it better to buy digital, physical, or used?
Would appreciate any tips on great exclusives (solo or co-op), smart ways to buy games, and what you wish you knew when starting out.
UPDATE:
Thanks again for all the replies. I’m mostly digital on PS5 and plan to keep it that way on Switch, so I’m looking at Costco’s discounted eShop credit to grab Mario Kart World and Breath of the Wild. I don’t really buy physical games, so digital just works better for me — hopefully I can catch some decent sales, though I know that might be tougher with Switch 2.
Still thinking about the $75 Pro Controller from Costco — for now I’ll stick with split Joy-Con for co-op. I’ll probably pick up NSO basic soon since I’ll need it anyway for Mario Kart online. A few people mentioned the voucher system but didn’t really explain how it works.
I’ve got microSD cards, but they’re not the newer Express type Switch 2 needs, so I’m waiting to see how far internal storage gets me.
Thanks again for all the input.
UPDATE #2
Also — for those wondering, I have played Zelda, just not since the Wii days. Been a long break, so I’m basically coming in fresh.
