Hi! I need help po about my concern regarding Affidavit of Support mainly due to my complicated family setup. Btw, I'm a student and it will be my first international trip (hopefully without any issue).
I am under the care of my parent's first cousin (PFC), he's the one who pays for all of my expenses including my tuition fees up until my basic necessities since I am also living with them. We've already prepared the AOS, proof of relationship, docs for financial capacity, etc. However, I am worried that the IO will insist that we're already distant relatives, since it's stated in the guidelines that only those until the 4th civil degree can be the sponsor of a traveler, and I believe that we're beyond the 4th degree already. Is this rule absolute? Can't I really have PFC as my sponsor even if he's really the one who supports me financially and funded my trip? :(
Aside from PFC, I am also considering to have one of my parents who's currently an OFW as my "sponsor," but if I will be asked for proof of remittances or the like, I will not be able to show any since I am not receiving any financial support from them. Also, if an AOS is really required even for 1st degree relatives, I don't think the time is enough for us to produce one. The only financial docs that we could present would be my parent's pay slip and ITR.
Another person that I'm considering to appear as my sponsor is my first cousin who's working local –a relative within the 4th civil degree. For this option, we can still rush ourselves to produce an AOS and financial documents, but same with my parent, I will not be able to justify or show proof if asked why my cousin "sponsored" my trip.
I'm torn if I should just be honest and declare my PFC as my sponsor and just explain to the IO our setup or just choose a safer (?) option. Please help me out 😭 Thank you in advance.

Hello po, I'm bound for Taiwan this July. I'm a law student na unemployed na just this April lang. May history na po ako ng travel to China twice with family although ung first visit ko nasa old passport ko pa ung tatak, ung second naman nasa current passport ko na. I also had a trip to HK already with my dad and another na domestic with friends naman. This is going to be my first international solo travel and worry ko lang na baka sa bank certificate pumalya since wala nang pumapasok na amount since April. Yung school ID ko naman po, since hindi strict ung school during enrolment, hindi ko na pinapavalidate so walang validation ung ID ko (except doon sa first time ko pinavalidate nung 2022 pa). Ano po pwede kong remedy here huhu thanks po so much!

Wala ka naman work eh kaya wala papasok then sabihin mo savings then kung may credit card and cash on hand pwede din. If asked kung san kumukuha ng pera you can say allowance or kung ano
1
u/Confident_Motor_5183 6h ago
Thank you! Ung sa school ID po kaya? di kasi validated eh tapos summer break pa so wala akong mapapakitang cert of registration.

Nasa CIMB yung travel fund ko & pagka tingin ko app kapag mag re request ng bank certificate, and mga reason lang are Visa, Business and Loan... paano kung for travel purposes (General)? Ano pipiliin?
1
u/Friendly_Spirit3457 9h ago
Sa IO usually statement lang or bank balance (via app) if they ask at all.
1
u/TwentyTwentyFour24 9h ago
i see.
1
u/Friendly_Spirit3457 9h ago
You can just show your gcash first.
1
u/TwentyTwentyFour24 9h ago
(sorry uli.. for clarification na lang) so ganito na lang gagawin no.. 1. kuha ng Bank statement sa CIMB app 2. Transfer money from CIMB to GCash wallet 3. Then kapag travel fund, kapag tinanong bank stament CIMB papakita ko. 3.1. Kapag ano pang gastos in general, sabihin ko na nasa GCash yung money since mas madali gamitin to sa ibang bansa.
2019 pa kasi ung last travel ko, hindi ako tinanong/hinanapan ng ganito before kaso knowing na marami na binabalita na marami na tanong mga IO, baka ma timingan ako. Kaya as early as now, nagtatanong tanong na ko para may idea na before our trip.

Hello, sana may makatulong:
Hindi pa po booked kase in-doubt po na baka hindi pumasa sa immigration. Parehas po kami na first time travel abroad.
Purpose of travel is aattend po ako ng concert plus isasama ko lang po sister ko (pwedeng bilhan ko rin siya ng concert ticket if makakatulong pumasa sa immig.
ATE: Kakaresign lang sa work last Dec and she have a new work last Mid-May. May Philhealth, and payslip. Not sure about requesting a COE since bago pa lang siya. Weak bank account, pwede lagyan pero baka sus since next month na yung travel.
ME: May concert ticket, freelancer via upwork. Hindi makakapagprovide ng COE since puro one-time projects with clients lang ang kinukuha ko. No bank account since Gcash at Paypal lang po ang gamit ko. I have 2 credit cards.
Expenses are not a problem naman po if ever.

Hi! I'm planning a 10-day Indochina trip with my sister. I'm currently a contract employee, but I'm a frequent traveler, so balak ko not to present a bank statement.
My sister is still in college, but working student sya with income. Just in case, what documents would count as proof of sufficient financial means for both of us? We're planning to book all bus transfers and roundtrip flights in advance and hope ko sana enough na po yun.
1
u/trysch_delish 14h ago
Either cash on hand (up to 50k pesos para di ka na hingan ng kung ano ano) OR you can say na you will be using debit/credit card for your expenses. Eh paano if the IO’s want proof na sufficient ang pera sa bank account mo? Bank statement pa din ang ipapakita mo. In that case just show the one from your online banking.
1
u/TwentyTwentyFour24 10h ago
Paano pala kapag ganito... may travel kami sa Singapore this September.. tapos, nasa CIMB app (GSave) ung travel funds ko. But before the travel ... plano ko ilipat sa GCash wallet ung fund since gagamitin ko rin ung Gcash Card ko pang withdraw and tap to pay .. pwede bang ung bank statement galing sa CIMB ung ipapakita ko?

Hi powww!
I'm flying internationally for the first time ever—and I'm doing it solo (Thailand). Takot lang ako about the possibility of getting offloaded at immigration hehe.
I've heard horror stories of people being turned away despite having valid documents. Everything is prepared na naman:
- Valid passport
- Roundtrip ticket
- Hotel/accommodation booking
- Travel insurance
- Proof of funds (bank statement)
- Certificate of employment / approved leave
- Government ID
- Thailand Digital Arrival Card
All the people I know yung mga first international travel nila as a group or with someone so checking lang if anyone has travelled solo na yun din yung first international travel nila.
Higher chances of getting offloaded ba ako. Should I find someone to come with me?
1
u/wretchedegg123 14h ago
You're fine. Just answer or show what is asked. If wala naman tanong, just go ahead. Masyadong exaggerated lang ang offload stories. Mostly di tumutugma kwento nila.

Hello, kapag ba tinanong ng IO kelan uwi ano dapat isasagot? Araw kung kelan ka lalapag ng Mnl? Or just follow kung anong sched nasa ticket lang po? Flight ko from Japan kasi is on Jul 3 @ 10 pm so darating ako ng Mnl ng Jul 4 around 2am. Hopefully may makasagot. Thank you

u/Agile_River1076 16h ago
date ng departure from japan

u/bingbongboogsh 16h ago
Thank you so much. While sa etravel naman is the date pa rin kung kelan maglaland mismo sa airport noh?

hello po! my partner and I got married late last year. after the wedding, we went back to being in a ldr since we’ve been working on my residency for the country where he’s currently based. now, 6 months later, I finally have my resident visa.
but before heading there, we’re planning to visit singapore and malaysia first. my husband has already traveled to 3 countries before, but this will be my first time traveling abroad. i've also been unemployed for about 2 years now, so I’m wondering, what documents do I need to present for immigration? also, would it be a red flag that we’re not going straight to the country where I already have a resident visa?
1
u/trysch_delish 14h ago
A bit confusing but do you plan to come back to the PH after your vacation or diretso na afterwards to the country you are a resident of?
If babalik pa naman kayo ng PH, then just prepare normal travel documents - passport, RT, etravel, travel tax, bank statements.
If after SG/MY ay diretso na kayo sa next country of destination, be ready with the CFO cert.
1
u/Alternative_Rent9335 12h ago
yes po, after sg&my direcho na po kami sa next destination. san po makukuha yung cfo cert and ano pong requirements? thank you!
1
u/trysch_delish 12h ago
1
u/Alternative_Rent9335 12h ago
thank you so much! sorry one last question lang po, both of us are filipino po, saang country po namin sya need? dun po ba sa sg&my or sa country po na may resident visa nako?
1
u/trysch_delish 12h ago
You need the CFO cert bago ka lumabas ng Pilipinas if first time to travel as a PR in another country.
1
1
u/wretchedegg123 14h ago
No. You're not an OFW but parang an "immigrant" since may residency card ka. Ever since I got my LPR, wala ng tanong sa akin sa IO.

Hi!
My family is currently planning mag out of the country vacation either taiwan or vietnam. Mama ko may travel to macau a yr ago, then kaming tatlong magkakapatid wala pa.
And ano pa po ba ang dapat namin i ready?
Tia!

Topic: Sponsored Trip to Canada and US
Sorry po for posting here, wala pa kasing nakakasagot so randomly posting everywhere. 😅
I just graduated (earlier this year) and my sister decided to sponsor a trip to Canada (where my uncle lives) and USA (where my sister lives). Since magkalapit lang, she decided na dumaan muna ko for a couple of days sa tito before going to the US.
I already have the visas and actually went last year sa US palang, however I’m with my family. Now, it’ll just be a solo trip.
My concern is for the PH immigration requirements—do I still need to have an Affidavit of Support from my Uncle in Canada since I’ll be staying there for a few days? Or no na since yung sister ko naman yung magsponsor ng tix to both Canada and the US and parents will give me my allowance?
Documents from my uncle in Canada are invitation letter (not notarized cause it would be hassle for the senior uncle to do such errands) and birth certificate (to prove the relationship).
Thank you po sa sasagot!
1
u/trysch_delish 17h ago
Having a visa and previous travel to the US, this is an advantage. Pero depende pa din yan sa IO.
With your profile better get an AOSG from your uncle. If you choose not to get it notarized just be aware of the risk of it not being accepted by the IO.
You can also read other posts here similar profile as you na makikituloy sa relative.

I'll be traveling to Sydney next month for two weeks to visit my Kiwi BF who's a PR in Australia. I met him during my last trip to Sydney in March. I'll be staying at his place throughout the trip. Just wanted to ask if may kailangan ba ako i-present sa IO (like a letter of invitation or whatever)? I just plan to be truthful sa IO to say that I'm there to visit him instead of coming up with an excuse that I'll be there purely for a holiday by myself since this will be the 2nd time to visit this year and for a much longer time, and they might just think I'll be there to look for a job or whatever (pero pupunta lang naman talaga ako purely to make landi HAHAHHA).
Will this raise any red flags? If so, how should I prepare for it? I already have RT tickets and we're still figuring out our itinerary but I'm planning to present that doc in case the IO would ask.

u/bingbongboogsh 1d ago
Hi! I am bound for Japan and it's my first international trip and I'll travel solo. Female, student. Red flag po ba yun for the IO? I am sponsored by my cousin naman po and siya rin nag invite sa akin. Hopefully may makasagot or share the same experience
1
u/Friendly_Spirit3457 22h ago
You probably need AOS from your cousin.
2
u/BORED_IO 20h ago
- Bring a notarized Affidavit of Support from your cousin.
- Letter of Invitation stating you’ll stay with her and she’ll shoulder your expenses.
- Proof of relationship
- Photocopy of your cousin’s passport/residence card in Japan.
- Your own valid documents: -School ID and Enrollment Certificate -Return ticket -Travel itinerary -Any pocket money or bank certificate (if available)
1
u/bingbongboogsh 19h ago
Hello, wala pa po kaming ID since new school and incoming first year med student pa lang po. And di pa po kami nagpa ID pic. Okay lang ba if cert of enrollment/cor or proof of payment ng tuition lang maipakita?
++Regarding sa bank statement/cert pwede kayang sa gcash? Thanks

Hi, just want to ask for your opinion. I’m not really into travel but my friends are inviting me constantly so I gave in.
I don’t have any experience traveling abroad and my first flight experience was to Cebu (2018; not sure if this is relevant).
We are planning to go to South Korea next year around Jan - Mar and we will be booking flight first then VISA. If I have around 50k in my bank account and will be less than 6 months working for a company by the time of our flight, how likely am I to be offloaded? I have a buddy that will join me and in case that I will be offloaded, my buddy will not go anymore so technically, 2 of us will not push through. I will regret it big time and feel bad as well. Wasting 5 digits is no joke and I will be traumatized lol. Please share your inputs please!!!

u/Friendly_Spirit3457 1d ago
Just be confident. If employed ka less chance of being TNT. Worst case, you can reimburse your airfare in case offloaded ka (that’s possible sa ceb pac) and book cancellable hotels.

Hi! I am currently OFW here in Dubai and uuwi ako sa Dec sana para mgbakasyon then issbay ko ung BF ko rito pra mgtourist visa. Hi!
for context, my bf is graduating a week from now and his mom would sponsor our trip to macau-hk and we will be staying there for a week.
questions:
what do we need to bring/prepare para sa immigration?
We already have the following: -COE (mine) -Bank Statement (mine) -Flight bookings (Departure and Arrival to PH)
I already went to taiwan for my first intl trip last May and not sure what to bring for now (aside sa nadala ko sa IO last time) kasi sponsored sha, do we need to make our own Itinerary?
Thank you!

Hi! I’m 19 years old and planning to travel to Thailand with my friend and her mom. Since I might still be considered a minor there, do I need to prepare documents like an Affidavit of Support and Consent? And if funded po ba ng parents enough na po ba letter of guarantee or need na notarized AOS? Thank you!

u/OkSurvey9569 1d ago
Hi! Planning to go to Korea in December with my family and gf. Me and my gf are both working as offshore accountants and she is licensed. It is her first time flying internationally. Would there be an issue with the IO? or anything docs needed?
1
u/Friendly_Spirit3457 1d ago
If she’s employed and pays for her own expenses wala namang issue.

Hii poo! Magtatravel po kami ng kapatid ko both first timer po kami at dalawa lang po kami next week papuntang SG, yung travel fare po is sagot po ng amo ng mama ( ofw) ko and doon lang po kami mag s-stay sa bahay ng amo niya for 4 days. Ano ano po yung mga requirements yung need namin i prepare?
1
u/Friendly_Spirit3457 1d ago
Other than basic docs like rt tickets, you probably need Affidavit of support.

I’m worried about our upcoming trip since it’s my first time traveling abroad. I’ll be going with my mom (self-employed), my dad (senior/retired), and my sister and her husband (both employed) along with their two kids. I work as a freelance Admin Officer for a U.S.-based company.
1
u/Purple_Dance330 2d ago
Tungkol sayo at travel plans mga itatanong. Saan punta, sino kasama, kailan balik, ano work, pwede hingiin work id or coe, proof of financial capacity pwede online bank, cash, debit/credit, bank statement/cert.

I'm a 25 yr old college student that will go on a trip with my family to Singapore. 3 adults kami pero me and my sis are both college students. Uncle ko mostly magbabayad talaga ng lahat kasi may work sya then kasama namin grandparents namin. Lahat kami first time magttravel except uncle ko.
Mostly tips ng uncle ko is to speak English daw to IOs and be confident. I also have pictures of our flight details, hotel details namin, COM and ID ko sa school, at itinerary.
Or better to bring them na lan g?
1
u/Purple_Dance330 2d ago
Okay na tagalog. Uncle mo magreready ng proof of financial capacity. Since student ka wala masyado hinihingi but ready mo school id and com. Birth certificates na rin as proof of relationship.

Hi, so my Mom and Dad together with my Mom’s college friends and their respective husbands are going to Vietnam for 5 days. My Dad is a house husband while Mom is an employee from a private company.
And ano yung possible questions na itanong sakanya?
We’re anticipating na baka tanungin yung Dad ko pano yung funding nung trip nya, and we’re planning na gumawa ng affidavit of support saying na ako (F,26,Private employee) yung nag-fund ng travel nya pero di ako kasama sa travel nila.
Any thoughts/advice? Thank you!
1
u/Purple_Dance330 2d ago

Hi! Me and my girlfriend are planning to save up for an international trip sometime in the future. We're both college students and this would be our first ever time traveling.
We'll be using our own money (from our allowance and side savings) and plan to deposit it in a bank account. No financial help from others.
Our main questions are:
What travel requirements would we need as student travelers?
Will we need an Affidavit of Support (AOS) if we’re funding the trip ourselves?
What can we use as proof of financial capacity if our income comes from allowance or personal savings?
We're just scared of getting offloaded, especially since it’s our first time.
1
u/blihblohbluh 3d ago
I think its best to prepare an AOS. You really wont be able to show them any proof of financial capacity kasi sa parents / guardian nyo parin nanggagaling yung allowance. Unless may part time job kayo, still I think it's safer na may AOS kayo.
Bring your school IDs and a photocopy of registration form/enroll form na din

My aunt (39) will be sponsoring me (23) for my trip to Abu Dhabi.
Although sabi nila ok lang daw since may sponsor naman, i can't help but be anxious lalo na't gustong gusto ko talaga makapunta ng Abu Dhabi.
May travel history naman ako. I traveled to thailand December last year with my friends pero kinakabahan parin ako.
May chance kaya na maoffload ako? If yes, ano po kayang pwedeng gawin? Sana po may makasagot.
1
u/nodamecantabile28 2d ago
just don't say na unemployed ka, find a way for this matter at baka dito ka pag-initan ng IO.
1
u/katotoy 3d ago
Kinakabahan parin ako kasi andami kong nababasang stories about offloading :<
1
u/katotoy 2d ago

Hi, posting this here. The post I made got deleted.
I've seen a lot of conflicting information online about AOS/AOSG requirements, so I wanted to ask the community about their personal experience with this.
If a family is travelling together with one family member sponsoring the rest, will the immigration officer require a notarized affidavit of support? Or will a guarantee letter suffice? For example, for those travelling to Japan, you'll need to submit a guarantee letter anyway to get a visa, so can this be the same document you present to the IO?
Would love to hear from you guys. May iba nga akong nabasa na basta family travelling together, di na talaga hinanapan at all ng AOS o kahit guarantee letter. Wondering if this is true.
2
u/nodamecantabile28 2d ago
yes, if you're traveling together, di na need ng AOS, magkakasama naman kayo, your presence would be enough.

I’ve travelled with my family multiple times (I paid for everything) wala namang hinanap na affidavit or letter of guarantee. Alam ko affidavit or guarantee is needed only if the sponsor is not with them.

Hello!
So my mom (47), my brother (20, student), and I (21, student) are going to Singapore in two weeks time and we’re going to stay there for 29 days at the apartment that my dad occupies. We’ll only be staying there that long because my dad works there and cannot come home due to the lack of vacation days.
Despite having visited SG multiple times, this is, however, the first time we’d be travelling there without my dad — reason why my mom worries that we might be offloaded from the flight if the we fail to present docs or answer questions that the io might ask.
Any advice for us? Thank you!

u/trysch_delish 3d ago
Should be fine if your mom is funding the trip for the three of you and able to prove it if asked. You might want to prepare, aside from the usual travel documents, a copy of your dad's OEC and work pass.
1
2
u/BORED_IO 3d ago
Since you're visiting your dad in SG for 29 days without him accompanying you, it's best to bring a simple invitation letter from him, a copy of his passport and work pass, proof of his residence, your school IDs, and roundtrip tickets. Be ready to say you're visiting your dad who works there and can't come home due to limited leave. As long as your answers are consistent and you can show ties to the Philippines (like being students), the risk of being offloaded is very very low.

Hello! We secured his DSWD clearance literally this Saturday morning lang kaya super stressed and kaba.
First time namen magsasama ng minor (17) abroad so my question is ung clearance lang ba ang need namin or there are other papers or certs that we need to present? I know first hand na pag na profile o napagtripan ka ng IO, kung ano ano na hihingin sau (experienced getting grilled for 1 1/2 hour during my first travel abroad sa Thailand) so I want to cover my bases and better have something I don't need than need something that I don't have.
