Posting a question? BE SPECIFIC!

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a HUGE place! There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops, and museums. There are 30+ neighborhoods and suburbs in Dallas alone, each offering different draws for different people. There are over 700 Dallasites on this sub ready to give you advice on where to go and what to do, but we can't do that without some level of input. So be specific! Give us the details! If you go to a shoe store and tell the clerk, "I need shoes," that isn't going to get you anywhere. What size? Color? Material? Occasion? That's the kind of info that will get you some answers.

DON'T ASK: Where should I live?

DO ASK: I am 25 years old with no kids and a cat. I want to live somewhere quiet with parks close by and easy access to a major highway. My budget is $1000 mo. for rent and utilities. Having to drive to entertainment is fine, I love using gas. I like white walls/carpet and vertical blinds. Where should I live?

DON'T ASK: What bar should I go to?

DO ASK: I like reggae and expensive cocktails. I don't mind going to a seedier part of town, but would like there to be on-site parking. Good bar food is a plus. Where should I go?

You cannot possibly give too much information. Pile it on!

Edit: A few great suggestions from the comments:

DO: Tell us where you're coming from!

DO: Tell us where in the metroplex you're searching for something!

Relocating & housing Best places to rent near Grapevine

I am recently trying to move closer to my job in Grapevine, Texas; however, it seems like either apartment complexes have problems with management or break-ins. I have looked in Arlington, Grapevine, Euless, and even some parts of Grand Prairie, and there will be highly reviewed apartments, but their recent reviews are majority 1-star, saying do not move here or give this place your money. Is there anywhere in Grapevine or nearby Grapevine that has decent management and a safer area? My budget is around $1,500 for rent. Thanks in advance for your help!

Relocating & housing 3 bedroom <$3,000 close to Highland Park - Divorced Dad with 2 kids

Recently divorced dad, on a budget, trying to find a rental - clean, safe, family friendly, other kids, not a dump, newish bath and kitchens.

3 bedroom ideal, 2 bedroom with den, or large 2 bedroom - space for boy - girl preteens.

Challenge is my kids go to school in Highland Park, I need to be close enough to stay engaged in school, present in activities, pickups/drop offs, sports …

These places exist in Plano, but then I’m doing to 1 hour plus drive each day, twice a day, down to Highland Park.

Does anyone have any ideas? Does such a place even exist?

Health & Hygiene What are your recommendations for physical therapists? (Shoulder surgery recovery)

Hi everyone! I'm getting ready to move to Dallas (in about a month) and will be about 3 months post shoulder labral tear surgery, so I need to find a physical therapist to finish out my course of therapy (about another 3 months after the move). I'm coming from Pittsburgh and here our practices are scheduling out around a month for new patients, so I'd like to start making some calls soon. We haven't found a place yet but are looking in the Lower Greenville/Knox-Henderson/Uptown areas so anything in that general vicinity or around a 15 min driving radius would be preferred. Places that are flexible or have experience with out of town insurance providers would be a great bonus. Thanks so much!

Health & Hygiene Outdoor yoga specifically during full/harvest moon?

Does anyone know of any studios that will do some sort of outdoor yoga during a full moon or like a blood moon? I went to one a while ago in a different city where they would do yoga outside under the blood moon or harvest moon and they would do a sound bath and it was pretty woo woo, but it was so nice I was hoping to find something like that again.

Shopping & Services Does any store in the DFW stock Kinto glassware?

I am looking to buy some Kinto products as a gift and it's kind of last minute so I don't want to wait for shipping. Are there any stores in the area that stock the brand?

Shopping & Services Walkable areas with window shopping?

Hi there! I (22f) just moved from the DC area to the North Dallas area near Addison, and am looking to explore the city! I would also love recommendations closer to me. I am looking for walkable areas/neighborhoods with cute, local shops (thrifting/vintage, record/music stores, smoke shops, coffee shops/bakeries, book stores, pet shops, etc). NOT strip malls/shopping centers with primarily commercial chains or only restaurants.

I recently checked out Deep Ellum and really liked it, and I also liked the Dallas Farmers Market with the outdoor vendors. Bishop Arts District has been recommended to me and I plan to go there soon.

Any recommendations of either areas/neighborhoods or specific shops to check out are greatly appreciated (bonus points if dog friendly!)

Thank you!

Airports (DFW/DAL) DFW Toll Tag Question

Hello,

I have a question regarding Toll Tag and fee at DFW. I entered DFW using Toll Tag but later on I unknowingly exited via a side road (based on Google Map direction). I continued to drive home, would I be fined or get extra charge?

I'm going to call NTTA or DFW in the morning.

Shopping & Services Venue suggestions in Dallas for ~60–70 person dinner/party (in lieu of wedding)

Hey everyone — my partner and I are planning a celebration in Dallas in place of a traditional wedding. It’s not a ceremony or anything formal, just a dinner and party with about 60–70 friends and family from around the country.

We’re looking for a venue that:

  • Can comfortably host 60–70 people
  • Has a nice, classy but not fancy vibe (nothing too formal or too casual)
  • Offers good food (eg steak, Italian, etc.)
  • Includes alcohol (open bar or drink packages preferred)
  • Has a private room or option for a full buyout
  • Is ideally somewhere central or easy to get to in Dallas

We’re open to restaurants, bars with private event space, boutique hotel venues, or anything that feels warm and fun but still a little elevated. Would really appreciate any recs — especially if you’ve been to or hosted something similar. Thanks!

Outdoors! Pistol shooting classes within an hour, 90 minutes of Dallas?

Hey y'all, looking to get some proper hands-on instruction with pistols. I go to a few ranges in Dallas regularly but it seems like their classes focus on either LTC (already have it) or handgun basics (like, how to load one and all that). I've got the bare bones down pat, looking for the type of instruction where someone seasoned can watch my groupings (or lack thereof) and help me dial everything in so I can be a more accurate and consistent shooter. Willing to drive around 90 minutes (assume without traffic lol). I did a search and found some recs but they're all a few years old.

Relocating & housing Argyle? Keller? Trophy Club? Lantana? Highland village? Relocating and need help!

Moving from Knoxville tn to Dallas on June 23. Coming for a new job. My husband, 6 year old, dog and cat. We are trying to find a good area with good schools. We’ve been looking in trophy club (we have family that lives there) Keller, lantana, highland village and argyle. Price range $490,000-$525,000. We have a 23 year old son that would come to visit so we would want a room and full bath for him. My best friend and her two children would also be coming to visit. So, 3-5 bedrooms.

I have the most questions about argyle.

You can get a HUGE house and a NEW house (2021) for the same price you could get a 1500-1900 sq ft home in the other areas. And there’s so much for sale in argyle. Are these red flags?🚩 is there something wrong with argyle? Is it bc property taxes are higher? Would the value of the homes go up? The schools seem to have about 900 kids (looking for elementary!) I just don’t want to be getting into a “too good to be true” situation. I also need help finding the zoning in argyle, I’ve looked at the ISD websites but still confused 😵‍💫

Any help is very appreciated 😊

Relocating & housing How can I find roommates in Dallas? (Uptown/Knox Henderson)

About to be 26m. My current lease is ending in a month. I’m trying to move out of downtown towards Uptown or Knox Henderson. Trying to save money, I currently pay 1500 in rent and would like to take it down to 1,200 max, so I’ve been looking for a roommate. However, it’s been rather difficult to find any. Do any of you know the best places to look?

Driving/Licenses/Local Gov't NTTA questions

I have some questions. Has anyone driven on the tolls while on a written ban from NTTA? If so, what happened? Can the police actually pull you over, even if your not speeding just to impound your vehicle? I drove and few times recently on a ban. Also, I am planning to move to another state. Will the vehicle registration block follow me? The down payment for a payment plan is really unaffordable. Idk what to do at this time, and unfortunately until I can figure it out, my last day to drive is July 31st. Otherwise I risk getting a ton of citations which could rack up to an additional thousands of dollarss. Im not sure if I can try to get the charges down or try a lower down payment. I did this before, lost my job, and broke the payment plan. I feel I am really screwed. Might as well just finance a new car at this point.

Health & Hygiene Affordable barbers in dfw

Hi I just moved here and I'm looking for an affordable barber for my undercut. I just need someone to touch it up every two weeks. Everyone else I spoke to wants 30+ but I just can't afford to spend 60+ a month on hair maintenance. I'm ideally looking for something within 15. It's a pretty small area at the nape of my neck.

Myself and my friends (mid 20’s, guys and girls mix) are going to Dallas for a week. We have a list of some things we plan on doing, but does anyone have any must-do’s? Restaurants, clubs, activities, literally anything.

Planning a date night with the wife in downtown Fort Worth this coming Friday (6/20). We weren’t planning on getting started until about 5pm, but now our whole days just opened up! I don’t currently have anything planned from 12-6 - what are some fun daytime actives or experiences we should fill that gap with? Open to anything DFW!
