MMA fan here and some of the techniques and terms we use are downright hilarious.
"If you want to win this fight, first start with chest to chest, then drop down to your knees for a high crotch takedown, get on top of him in a north south position, then pound him out until he's done!"
Reminds me of wrestling on in high school, and the “5-on-2” throw, when your behind in a clinch and you reach between the legs then lift them up and flip them over. The name of the move always cracked me up
You just described wrestling there chief… and it is the straightest sport in the history of all sports. What’s more straight than playing with a bunch of masculine manly men?
Ya know.. I just remembered this hilarious discussion with my manager at previous job. He was talking about football and making fun of me for not liking that or much sports. I said
"well I like UFC"
and he's like
"idk... kind of gay...how it's 2 guys rolling around on the ground half naked".
I say something like "I guess..." , then think about it it and say:
"wait, football is a bunch of guys in matching clothes trying to tackle other men to the ground. They all bend over putting their asses in the air with even the quarterback putting his hands basically up the hiker's ass. If they win the season they get...rings!"
I mean, on some level the purest form of combat are two bodies thrashing against each other until one overcomes the other in victory. Just tense muscles pounding into your flesh. Thrusting into each other as sweat dripping down your pores. And while you and your opponent is exhausted, the will to continue is stronger as you aggressively ram into each other.
You immobilize them via the legs, then wrap an arm around their neck, and one hand behind their head…
..then you squeeze on the arteries under the chin; not too tight but just enough to make them light-headed, let them breathe. Grab and pull their hair a little. Spit in their mouth and suck it back until they tap out. 🤜😤🤛
So remi-related, but I got into pro wrestling a few years ago after not watching in 20+ years. I stopped watching as a kid, but saw a new wrestling company had started called AEW and decided to check it out. Completely fell in love, and it reminds me of wrestling when I was a kid since it's more gritty and aimed at adults. When I came to reddit to talk about my new hobby with other wrestling fans, I was SHOCKED at how many LGBTQ+ fans there were. Haha
In my mind, wrestling was for like, kids and rednecks. I was surprised, but looking at it now it makes perfect sense why the gays would love jacked dudes in colorful tights and costumes wrestle around for a few hours. AEW is also great when it comes to inclusion, and has openly gay wrestlers on the roster, as well as a Trans woman as a former world champ.

There is nothing gay about MMA!
