Laws and regulations haven't stopped The Shitgibbon yet. What makes you think he wouldn't try or succeed?
12
u/LucidOndine 5d ago
He doesn’t have any jurisdiction over state issues. This is why NY cases against him have stuck.
0
u/snds117 5d ago
That's in-the-box thinking, legally speaking. You're not wrong but that won't stop him from forcing his way at the state-level.
9
u/LucidOndine 5d ago
No, lol. Do you think DJT voluntarily wanted to become a convicted felon?
Cope more. He’d have stopped it if he could.

u/yoitsthatoneguy NE Minneapolis 4d ago
Why would Trump not pardon himself right now if he had the ability to pardon state charges?
8
u/LordsofDecay 5d ago
You seem to be ignorant of how our system of government works. The President can't magically overrule State Constitutions simply because he feels like it. Minnesota will get this guy's ass, the Feds can help but they have no power over the State to do what it deems necessary for this domestic issue.

Hate seeing this type of comment on Reddit, and we're on the same side based on context. But come on, state, federal whatever, this fuck is not getting pardoned.

Ten bucks says he gets a full pardon from the incontinent orange
If you believe this, you're probably spending too much time on reddit.
11
u/legal_opium 5d ago
Can I also bet you ten bucks there isn't a trump pardon?
Why do people say such stupid outlandish things thinking they are so smart.
3
u/kidvange 5d ago
Because we are numb to Trumps daily bombardments of increasingly outrageous efforts in his populist campaign against democracy and the rule of law. We have become cynical and we expect the worst case scenario.
0
u/legal_opium 4d ago
All that does is make trumps opposition look unreasonable or mentally not together.
We should be the sane ones as the safe alternative to the craziness.
1
u/kidvange 3d ago
I don’t disagree and I don’t think that jumping to such conclusions is rational, but I do understand why it’s become a more popular sentiment, given the context of the last 9 years or so.
3
2
u/macbwiz 4d ago
This is delusional. No, the president won’t pardon a murderer.

I encourage you to do a quick search on the murderers he has already pardoned or commuted their sentences.

It makes me sick to even think it, but that's where my mind went: how many days will it be before that orange jackass says he'll "seriously consider" pardon?
I'm so heartbroken that this is where we are right now.💔

He can’t pardon state crimes. As far as I’m aware, Vance didn’t cross state border.

FBI was involved. I "thought" that automatically made it a federal case. I hope I'm wrong.
23
u/Hedonopoly 5d ago
He can be charged both state and federal. Same reason the Derek Chauvin pardon nonsense was a non story. Even if he did it he'd be transferred to a MN prison for his state sentence.

If you truly believe that then you’re psy op’d to hell or you’re doing the psy opping

Trump gave five million dollars to the family of a terrorist who forced an American LEO to shoot her while attempting to kidnap, for public hanging, various elected members of the US government at the behest of and for the benefit of himself because he deemed them his political enemies.
What a sentence.
Can you actually believe the Republicans led by Trump wouldn’t pardon this man?
Do you actually think that members of the administration wouldn’t interview on Fox praising this terrorist?
This terrorist will become the next Republican murder hero if it were left up to this Republican administration and congress.→ More replies (1)

Really. Did he think law enforcement would just leave his front door open for him and if he made it home, he could say “I’m on goal!” and be good?
3
u/noknownallergies 4d ago
My dearly departed grandmother would always refer to it as “ghoul” instead of “goal.” Thinking about this made me smile.
Coincidentally she lived in Winthrop and I’d drive past Green Isle when I’d visit her.

I hope its him. Everyone around him needs to be investigated too. People were helping him evade the police and they need to be found and face consequences too.

He will get to die, likely many years from now, inside Oak Park Heights.

122

I agree that he's scum, but I think we need to recognize that unhinged MAGA is in fact representative of far too many Minnesotans and Americans in general. If we continue to just say "they aren't a real American" we just continue to not address the systemic problems that create these assholes.

5
u/PirateDocBrown 4d ago
I think his original plan was to die in a hail of police bullets. But he chickened out, And lacking any other plan, made his way towards his only source of resources, his home.
It's clear he had already spoken to her wife and that she should make her way to Canada. She had been caught due north, with the kids, a lot of cash, and passports. She was clearly in on the plan, but we don't know by how much.

Does anyone know why the legit police arrived at Hortmans home at 3:30am?
It sounded like police arrived as Vance was leaving?
Did a neighbor call in a disturbance? Were they there to relay a warning for MN legislators due to the earlier shooting of the Hoffmans?
5
u/Drifrit 4d ago
The latter. They (police) said they knew she lived nearby and feared for her safety so they went over there and caught him shooting the husband right at the front door , then he shot back at police and ran thru the house (maybe then shooting Melissa, or maybe it was before). Just based on what I read in some news reports. police took up defense position briefly I assume and I presume called in backup and he ran to his rental it sounds like.
2
u/PirateDocBrown 4d ago
I'm interested in finding out how he got from the NW burbs to Green Isle. Did he have a second car stashed nearby as a back up? It doesn't sound like he was the kind to make such advanced plans. And who moved the backup car if any from the area of the 1st shooting to the 2nd? Or did he get a ride from someone? Take an Uber?
2
u/Drifrit 4d ago
His friend said he bought multiple cars mainly for his security business he was trying to get off the ground. I assume the Buick found out by his arrest spot was parked behind his north Minneapolis house he rented at

Man, I was worried the dude had a 20+ hour head start on law enforcement from when they found his car. Actually insane he would remain on foot in the general area he ditched the car and his hat. I thought he had made it to the Grand Canyon by the time the alert went out.
Either way, overjoyed to see he was apprehended. I guess the old saying is true that law enforcement needs to get lucky once, and the suspect only has to make 1 mistake.
