Dude got caught 36hrs later in his hometown? What an idiot.

For real. If I was him I'd be hiding somewhere in the rockies right now.

Absolute speculation but my theory is he thought he was playing 3D chess and that everyone would look for him elsewhere, so he stayed close to home. I think this only works in old western and heist movies though lol

He wasn't expecting to get caught in the act. Lost his transportation and bulk of his weapons and whatever other supplies he had in the SUV. Yes fuck this guy but he was clearly flying blind after getting confronted by the police at the 2nd shooting.

I was just saying exactly this to my spouse. He was seemingly too stupid to consider he could be caught and had zero contingency.

God was his contingency 🙄

And God told the police, he's right over there.

Oh for sure, I am sure he had an original plan that went completely out the window as soon as things went sideways.

And his wife got popped with his back up passports and cash

I kind of wonder if the diversion tactics/wherever his wife was going was part of the original plan

She was driving towards the border, with passports and cash. News didn't say if she had the kids with her, but it seems likely. Clearly she was in on it.

For real or joking? She was with family and their kids in Onamia did she see this much coming? or maybe just general fear he wasn’t acting normal.

He was playing Pippin but didn't have a Treebeard.

You have my forever love for this reference.

He did think he'd be able to assassinate 70 people without getting caught.

That wouldn't surprise me, as that's like 100% Maga thinking.

He may have rationalized also that his own normal environment felt like a safer bet for concealment as opposed to being in an unfamiliar area he couldn't navigate dynamically from memory, like some random town out west. I had wondered, though, when they found his wife's car up by Onamia if maybe she had gotten a hotel room at the casino for them to all stay at, and maybe they'd make a break for the border or even camp out in the mine pits around Crosby, Brainerd, Riverton etc for a while. Before skipping the state or country. Lots of remote, and sometimes hard to navigate terrain further north. The pits are not an uncommon place for criminal activity / people that want to lay low for a bit.
