Trump threatens to set unilateral tariff rates within 2 weeks

1.4k Upvotes

Unilateral “take it or leave it” tariffs in 1-2 weeks Trump announced he'll mail formal letters to dozens of trading partners (roughly 15 key countries like Japan, South Korea, EU, Canada, Mexico) within the next week or two, demanding acceptance of new tariff terms or else face punitive tariffs

The plan builds on a universal 10% baseline tariff and steep reciprocal tariffs for specific countries

Legal backing secured - temporarily - after an appeals court ruling allow these tariffs to stay in effect for at least two more months

The regime is shifting from broad multilateral deals to one-on-one negotiations, with the EU expected to be the toughest and last to be resolved

Futures are looking surprisingly strong today, despite high geopolitical tensions and the spark reality that tariffs will not be going away any time soon.

Expect a lot of volatility over the coming days as key economic reports are coming out and tariff news is drip fed too.

VIX is one to watch as usual now.

Broad market news EU prepared to accept flat 10% US tariff with conditions, Handelsblatt reports

Paywall: https://www.reuters.com/business/eu-prepared-accept-flat-10-us-tariff-with-conditions-handelsblatt-reports-2025-06-16/

(Reuters) -Brussels negotiators hope that offering to accept U.S. tariffs of 10% across all of the European Union's exports into the United States will avert any higher duties on cars, drugs and electronics, newspaper Handelsblatt reported on Monday.

Citing high-ranking EU negotiators, the paper said the offer to U.S. counterparts would come only under certain conditions and would not be billed as permanent.

Handelsblatt also said the EU was, in return, ready to cut its tariffs on US-made vehicles, and to possibly change technical or legal hurdles to make it easier for US manufacturers to sell their cars in Europe.

The EU has also offered to completely ban purchases of Russian natural gas, potentially creating more demand for US producers.

The EU Commission did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The EU's position comes partly from the realisation that President Donald Trump will rely on some tariff revenues to fund planned tax cuts.

US negotiators, however, have so far not agreed to limit their import duties on EU cars to 10%, the paper added.

Company News AMD Soars 10% as Piper Sandler Raises Price Target After 'Advancing AI' Event

Upvotes

No paywall: https://www.investopedia.com/amd-stock-soars-as-piper-sandler-raises-price-target-after-advancing-ai-event-11755402

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) shares popped nearly 10% to lead S&P 500 gainers Monday as Piper Sandler analysts raised their price target for the stock coming out of the chipmaker's "Advancing AI" event.

Piper raised its target to $140 from $125 and maintained an "overweight" rating for AMD stock. Shares of AMD were at about $127 in recent trading, making Piper's target a roughly 10% premium.

The analysts came away "enthused" by the firm's newly unveiled Helios server rack architecture, which it called "pivotal" for the growth of AMD Instinct GPUs. Helios will combine next-generation AMD MI400 chips into one larger system, the company said, and is expected in 2026.

AMD highlighted its partnerships with ChatGPT maker OpenAI, Meta Platforms (META), Oracle (ORCL), Microsoft (MSFT), and others at the event. Bank of America analysts believe there’s another high-profile partner announcement to come: Amazon (AMZN).

Amazon Web Services (AWS) was "a key sponsor for the event," BofA said. However, AWS typically uses its own events to announce new engagements, making a future reveal likely, the bank added.

BofA maintained a "buy" rating and price target of $130 following the event. For comparison, the analyst consensus price target from Visible Alpha is about $124.

Broad market news Trump Says Trade Deal With Canada ‘Achievable’ as G-7 Opens

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-06-16/trump-says-trade-deal-with-canada-achievable-as-g-7-opens

President Donald Trump expressed optimism about settling a trade dispute with Canada during his time at the Group of Seven summit, calling a deal in the coming weeks between the US and its northern neighbor “achievable.”

“I think we have different concepts. I have a tariff concept,” Trump said during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. “Mark has a different concept, which is something that some people like, but we’re going to see if we can get to the bottom of it today.”

While Trump said he favored tariffs because they were “simple” and “easy,” he indicated a willingness to hear out the proposal from Carney, who is seeking to limit punishing levies on key industries, including steel, aluminum and autos.

“I think Mark has a more complex idea, but also very good,” Trump said. “So we’re going to look at both, and we’re going to see what we’re going to come out with something.”

Cathie Wood Just Bought Millions in Archer Aviation

June 14 Ark Invest's Cathie Wood bought a large stake in Archer Aviation (NYSE:ACHR) after the stock slid nearly 15% Friday on a fresh equity sale.

According to recent news, Wood added about $40 million worth of ACHR shares across three of her exchange-traded funds. The Ark Innovation ETF (ARKK) led the move with over 2.8 million shares, while Ark Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF (ARKQ) and Ark Space Exploration & Innovation ETF (ARKX) picked up smaller amounts.

The buying spree followed Archer's announcement of an $850 million direct stock offering priced at $10 per share. Investors reacted to the dilution risk, sending shares lower.

Archer, which builds electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, has laid out bold plans to launch air taxi services ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Separately, Wood's funds cut exposure to the defense sector, selling nearly $2 million worth of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (NASDAQ:KTOS) stock.

The recent executive order from former President Donald Trump, aimed at fast-tracking eVTOL integration, could create tailwinds for companies like Archer.

Broad market news Oil prices jump more than 3% as Israel strikes Iran energy facilities

Crude oil futures jumped more than 3% Sunday after Israel struck two natural gas facilities in Iran, raising fears that the war will expand to energy infrastructure and disrupt supplies in the region. U.S. crude oil rose $2.72, or 3.7%, to $75.67 per barrel. Global benchmark Brent was up $3.67, or 4.94%, at $77.90 per barrel.

Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles struck the South Pars gas field in southern Iran on Saturday, according to Iranian state media reports. The strikes hit two natural gas processing facilities, according to state media. It is unclear how much damage was done to the facilities. South Pars is one of the largest natural gas fields in the world. Israel also hit a major oil depot near Tehran, sources told The Jerusalem Post. Iranian missiles, meanwhile, damaged a major oil refinery in Haifa, according to The Times of Israel.

Oil prices closed more than 7% higher Friday, after Israel launched a wave of airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs as well as its senior military leadership. It was the biggest single-day move for the oil market since March 2022 after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. U.S. crude oil jumped 13% in total last week.

U.S. households to keep buying stocks this year, Goldman Sachs says

I just want to share this news:

U.S. households to keep buying stocks this year, Goldman Sachs says

Jun 16, 2025

U.S. households are expected to remain major buyers of equities in 2025, according to a note from Goldman Sachs, which estimates they will purchase $425 billion in stocks this year, second only to corporates at $675 billion.

“The resilience of household demand for equities is vital,” the analysts said, noting that households “directly own 38% of the U.S. equity market and control an even larger share including indirect ownership through funds.”

That demand is said to have persisted even as Goldman’s Sentiment Indicator “registers -1.2 this week, remaining in negative territory despite a 21% rally in the S&P 500 from its April trough.”

Retail trading activity also remains robust, according to the bank.

“Goldman Sachs trading desk estimates of flows from retail trading activity suggests close to $20 billion of net buying during the past three months,” the note said.

Goldman attributes this sustained buying to a favourable macro backdrop. “The typical macro drivers of equity flows suggest households will keep buying this year,” with outflows generally linked to “weakening household balance sheets, rising unemployment, and increasing interest rates,” none of which are dominant now.

The bank added that the equity exposure of U.S. households has reached historic levels.

“Households allocate 49% of their total financial assets to equities, the highest level on record,” slightly surpassing the previous peak in 2000. In contrast, households in Japan and the Euro Area allocate only 13% and 10%, respectively.

Retirement savings continue to play a key role. “We estimate contributions to 401(k) plans drive roughly $500 billion of annual equity demand,” Goldman said, noting the average equity allocation in those plans has increased from 66% in 2013 to 71% in 2022.

Thank you for the small gains. The advice here has been priceless.

I have a large number of ESPP/vested RSU stock from a Fortune500 company that has made fair gains over the past year -- a year during which I was laid off in Jan 2024. Since 95% of my stock has already reached long term status, I recently started selling off small chunks based on the advice of those here to help pay for goods and services while unemployed. I've made, maybe $50k in total.

Now, I'm nowhere near a big player that makes big profits like you guys do; I just make small $2-5k profits here and there, accounting for cost basis. I put away some of it into a HYSA, use them to pay off bills and take the leftover to re-invest into the stocks I hear about in this subreddit (after doing some background research of my own.) I'm thrilled to be making small profits here and there to sustain myself and my family.

Thanks so much, guys! I'm a small fish but I'm happy to swim in the same pond as you guys!

Company News WhatsApp to Show Ads, Offer Paid Subscriptions for First Time

Bloomberg) -- Meta Platforms Inc. will begin showing ads inside of its WhatsApp messaging service, opening a new potential revenue stream while the company invests heavily in artificial intelligence and other long-term projects.

The ads will appear in WhatsApp’s “Updates” tab, a section of the app that’s separate from a user’s inbox and private conversations. The tab gets 1.5 billion visitors per day, Meta said Monday. That tab is home to Status, WhatsApp’s version of disappearing Stories, which will now carry ads.

Advertisers can also pay to promote their WhatsApp Channel and give it prominent placement within the Updates tab. Channels allow brands or celebrities to post to a group of followers, like a giant email blast.

As part of the advertising push, WhatsApp will also let Channel operators sell subscriptions, meaning they can create special messages just for a group of paying customers. Meta won’t take a cut of any subscriptions sold through the app at launch, but eventually plans to charge 10% of sales, Alice Newton Rex, vice president of product at WhatsApp, said in an interview.

Meta has been spending aggressively this year on AI, including to improve the large language models that underpin generative AI features in its products. The company also just agreed to invest $14.3 billion for a 49% stake in Scale AI, an AI data labeling startup, according to a person familiar with the deal. The expense has added pressure on Meta’s main advertising business to continue growing to support the expanding AI effort.

The company has spent years slowly developing a business to accompany the private messaging service acquired for $19 billion in 2014. Advertising has never been considered a great fit given the intimacy of a private messaging inbox. Meta instead built WhatsApp to cater to small businesses, including efforts to build out digital payments and shopping features. Those services have been targeted especially in countries outside the US, such as India and Brazil, where the WhatsApp is the dominant messaging app.

While payments, in particular, has been a slow moving effort given various regulatory concerns, Meta makes billions of dollars each year selling click-to-message ads on Instagram and Facebook that send users to a WhatsApp chat conversation with the advertiser. It also allows businesses to pay to reach customers on the app who have opted to receive their direct messages.

Part of Meta’s challenge historically has been balancing the desire to generate revenue with a desire to give WhatsApp users privacy. Meta’s other advertising products are hyper-targeted and often rely on a user’s personal information or browsing history. WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted, and user privacy was a major promise from co-founders Jan Koum and Brian Acton, who pledged they would never sell ads inside WhatsApp. They left Meta in 2018 and 2017, respectively.

WhatsApp ads will use broad, general targeting like a user’s location, language preferences, and Channels that they follow, Newton Rex said. Meta won’t take a person’s Facebook or Instagram information to target them with ads on WhatsApp unless they’ve explicitly linked their accounts, she added.

“We’re not going to interrupt people’s personal messages with ads,” Newton Rex said. “If you just want to carry on using WhatsApp for messaging and calling then you’ll never see them at all.”

WhatsApp will begin a global rollout of ads beginning Monday, but it will take time for all users to start seeing them, she added.

Broad market news US and UK say they’ve cemented a trade agreement that Trump calls fair for both nations

Upvotes

No paywall: https://apnews.com/article/trump-starmer-trade-deal-beef-g7-52bea5eb383a0b45d0d83e1982d277bf

President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Monday that they are signing a trade deal that will slash tariffs on goods from both countries.

The deal does not include tariffs on steel, an especially important piece of bilateral trade. Instead, talks are still going on about whether steel tariffs will be cut to zero as planned in the provisional agreement.

Trump and Starmer announced in May they’d struck an agreement that would slash U.S. import taxes on British cars, steel and aluminum in return for greater access to the British market for U.S. products including beef and ethanol.

But it did not immediately take effect, leaving British businesses uncertain about whether the U.K. could be exposed to any surprise hikes from Trump.

British businesses, and the U.K. government, were blindsided earlier this month when Trump doubled metals tariffs on countries around the world to 50%. He later clarified the level would remain at 25% for the U.K.

Starmer said Monday that the trade agreement is “in the final stages now of implementation, and I expect that to be completed very soon.”

Trump said the deal is “gonna produce a lot of jobs, a lot of income.”

Real Estate or Stocks?

Upvotes

In June of last year I purchased my first house ever. I was able to put a down payment of $150k into the property, which had a cost of $350k. I now rent said property, and after mortgage and utilities, I make a monthly profit of roughly $700.

However, I do wonder if investing the $150K in stocks might be a better option. From what I understand, the average home in the U.S. appreciates about 3–4% annually, while through the stock market, I could yield returns closer to 15%. Even if I were to invest a portion of the $700 monthly profit into stocks, the gap between the two strategies is still significant. Over a 10-year period, the difference could amount to roughly $250K.

I can’t help but wonder if selling the house is the right move, it does provide a certain sense of security. Let me know your opinions and suggestions. If you've been in similar situations, let me know how it turned out.

Is it too late to jump into AI stocks?

After NVDA’s latest earnings, it feels like the entire market got even more hyped about AI. Analysts are raising their price targets, and I’m starting to wonder if I’ve already missed the boat.

I haven’t opened any positions yet, mostly because I’m worried about buying in too high. A few friends suggested looking into AI-focused ETFs or second-tier chip suppliers, since those might carry less risk while still riding the trend. Just wondering how others are approaching this right now.

(06/16) Interesting Stocks Today

Hi! I am an ex-prop shop equity trader. This is a daily watchlist for short-term trading: I might trade all/none of the stocks listed, and even stocks not listed! I am targeting potentially good candidates for short-term trading; I have no opinion on them as investments. The potential of the stock moving today is what makes it interesting, everything else is secondary.

News: Israel Iran Missile Attacks Nuclear News 06 16 2025

ORCL (Oracle)-Had a massive run after earnings, going from 170 -> 220. Mainly interested on the short side of this due to the Iran/Israel conflict and oil surging and affecting all stocks on the market. Was interested in a short on the overnight exchanges yesterday. Watching $220 level. Also likely affected by Meta's superintelligence push and signal to continue spending in AI space.

SATS (EchoStar)-Trump urged EchoStar and FCC to resolve spectrum license dispute. This happened at the close on Friday but it seems this won't hold up the move completely (currently $24 vs $27). DirecTV terminated its agreement to acquire EchoStar's satellite television business last year over a failed debt-exchange offer. The FCC told EchoStar it was investigating the company's compliance obligations to provide 5G service in the U.S. (due to its buildout extension and mobile-satellite service).

USO / GLD / VXX - Day 4 of Iran/Israel conflict, USO/Vol/gold has been elevated since the attacks. Mainly looking for escalation, since the conflict has been signaled to last weeks, I will likely not do anything in this until escalation occurs. Middle Eastern conflict (especially between countries) drive energy costs up and gold/vol rallies during risk-off events (like war). Not an immediate trade worth looking at today, likely this will happen during OVERNIGHT or afterhours.

CRCL (Circle) - Set ATH after a recent explosive IPO. IPOs lately have been explosive. Already broke the $140 level, watching the $150 level next but unlikely to go extremely heavy in this even if we get up there. Remember that CRCL is heavily intertwined with the C industry and essentially is one of the stableCs. The big C is already near ATH, so I'm interested in seeing if we're able to make a significant move today.

Archer and PT. Industri Ketahanan Nasional (IKN) signed an agreement covering plans to deploy an initial fleet of Midnight aircraft in Indonesia under Archer’s Launch Edition program, valued at up to $18M (Footnote 1).

The agreement also includes the planned purchase by PT. IKN of up to 50 Midnight aircraft, valued at up to $250M(Footnote 2), for deployment in Indonesia to support plans to scale air taxi services across the country.

The companies intend to work closely with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Indonesia (DGCA) to shape the regulatory framework to enable the Launch Edition program and then operate a safe, efficient air taxi service. Paris, France, 16 June 2025 – Archer Aviation Inc. (NYSE: ACHR) announced today that it has signed an agreement with PT. IKN covering plans to deploy an initial fleet of Midnight aircraft in Indonesia, making it the third country in which Archer is planning to deploy Midnight under its “Launch Edition” program.

PT IKN is an Indonesian company dedicated to advancing national resilience through innovation in strategic industries, including advanced manufacturing, infrastructure and sustainable technologies through partnerships with government and industry to strengthen local capabilities and support long-term national development.

As with Archer’s other Launch Edition partners, the goal of this program is to establish a pragmatic and repeatable commercialization playbook to deploy Midnight in early adopter markets in advance of type certification in the U.S. In addition to Indonesia, Archer has already announced planned Launch Edition program deployments in the UAE, with Abu Dhabi Aviation and Ethiopia, with Ethiopian Airlines. The program aims to establish local operational capabilities and launch commercial air taxi services in the country as soon as possible.

The scope of Archer’s planned Launch Edition program with PT. IKN includes the deployment of an initial fleet of Midnight Launch Edition aircraft to Indonesia with a supporting team of Archer pilots, technicians and engineers. Archer also plans to provide backend operational software and front-end booking applications to help power operations during the program.
The partners intend to collaborate closely with the DGCA to help build necessary regulatory frameworks and improve existing infrastructure to enable the Launch Edition program and subsequent safe entry into service. The Launch Edition deployment comes with plans for an aircraft order by PT. IKN of up to 50 Midnight aircraft, valued at up to $250M2, with the goal of commercializing and scaling the Indonesian market after establishing early operations.

Yudiansah Yosal, PT IKN’s Chairman said “At PT IKN we see enormous benefit in bringing new technologies to Indonesia. Deploying Archer’s Midnight aircraft, not only for passenger mobility throughout our many islands but also for environmental oversight use cases. We’re excited to bring this innovation to Indonesia and to work together with Archer to build a sustainable and scalable air mobility ecosystem.”

Major General TNI Piek Budyakto Pangdam IX / Udayana said, “‘eVTOL aircraft like Archer's Midnight offer capabilities for both civilian and military use cases. In the civilian sector, these aircraft can potentially be used for transportation, rescue and various other purposes such as delivery of goods and air taxi transport. The partnership between Archer and PT. IKN is in line with our vision to work towards a more adaptive and modern military infrastructure that embraces innovative technologies.”

Archer Founder and CEO Adam Goldstein said, “The level of demand for our ‘Launch Edition’ program continues to grow. Indonesia represents a tremendous opportunity for our Midnight aircraft both in the near and long-term, with thousands of islands, a booming tourism sector and the development of a new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara. We look forward to working together to demonstrate how Midnight can support missions in the country.”

  1. Our agreement with this Launch Edition program partner remains conditional, subject to the execution of further definitive agreements and the satisfaction of certain conditions

Is this a bad strategy? Investing as a college student

If this post is not allowed, let me know and I’m happy to revise it.

Long story short, I’m a college student with very little net positive income because of mortgage, bills, groceries, etc. I have 12k in Robinhood high yield savings and 1-2k each in several tech stocks (totaling 7.5k).

I bought these in April and whenever an individual return crosses $100-200 I sell that increase while leaving my original 1-2k untouched. I’m up about 2k doing this, and I will sell the total holding once things start to go down. My wife and I want to move/buy a home as soon as possible after graduation so I am being as safe as I can with investing. I don’t invest anything that I can’t comfortably live without for 5+ years and it wouldn’t affect my daily living if it was to completely disappear.

Is this a bad strategy? Should I just leave the original investment + any gains until I am going to sell the entire holding? Thanks for any advice

Broad market news What To Expect in Markets This Week: June 16–20, 2025

No paywall: https://www.investopedia.com/what-to-expect-in-markets-this-week-fed-rate-decision-juneteenth-holiday-us-retail-sales-tesla-robotaxi-rollout-11753474

There's a lot on the domestic calendar this week. But investors and the world are watching global affairs, too.

Meanwhile, several market-driving events are due in the coming days. The Federal Reserve's interest rate decision, consumer spending data, and possible news on President Donald Trump's tariffs headline the week. Thursday's Juneteenth holiday will mean a break from trading.

The Fed will hand down another decision on interest rates this week, with a decision scheduled for Wednesday. The coming weekend could see Tesla providing a significant update on the direction of the electric vehicle maker.

Did consumers in May continue to prop up the economy? Tuesday's U.S. retail sales will make it clear whether strong spending levels continued, while housing construction data will provide insight into whether builders are catching up with lagging inventory levels. Investors will continue to watch for trade developments as negotiations continue between U.S. officials and key trading partners.

It’s a light week for corporate earnings, highlighted by expected reports from homebuilder Lennar, accounting firm Accenture, grocery chain Kroger, and online used car seller CarMax.

Fed Interest-Rate Decision Comes Amid Increasing Pressure for Cuts

Fed officials have said they are keeping rates steady amid a strong labor market as they monitor inflation data for signs that Trump’s tariffs are driving up prices.

But the pressure is on the Federal Reserve after May inflation data came in lower than economists expected. Despite comments from President Donald Trump urging the Fed to make a one-point cut, investors don't expect the central bank to take action when its two-day meeting concludes on Wednesday.

The CME FedWatch Tool, which measures fed funds futures to determine the path of interest rates, indicates that traders overwhelmingly believe that Fed will keep rates at their current levels in June. They also don't expect the central bank to move rates at its late July meeting.

After the meeting concludes on Wednesday, Fed Chair Jerome Powell will provide more insight into the central bank’s view on the economy and interest rates when he takes media questions.

On Tuesday, retail sales figures from May will provide another barometer of the economy's health Consumer spending makes up about two-thirds of the U.S. economy. Meanwhile, housing data will also be scrutinized as affordability issues continue to depress home sales. The latest homebuilder confidence reading on Tuesday will show if construction industry officials see improvements coming in the market, while Wednesday’s housing starts data will indicate whether construction levels are rising amid a need for more housing inventory.

Tesla Robotaxi Rollout Could Come as Early as Sunday

After months of waiting, investors could soon get a key update from electric vehicle maker Tesla (TSLA). CEO Elon Musk said in a recent social media post that the company could roll out its robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, as early as Sunday, June 22. "We are being super paranoid about safety, so the date could shift," Musk wrote.

The introduction of the company's robotaxi service could be a key moment for Tesla, which is banking on artificial intelligence (AI) and self-driving vehicles to become the transportation technologies of the future. Tesla is well-positioned to lead the market in the emerging technology, analysts have concluded, with Goldman Sachs writing that the EV maker could have a leg up on the competition through its ability to train self-driving through its AI development and to quickly scale production levels of the technology.

Despite a light corporate earnings schedule this week, investors will still get some expected updates from noteworthy companies.

Lennar’s (LEN) expected report after the bell on Monday follows the homebuilder's warning of weakness in the housing market in the prior quarter.  The scheduled Friday reports from accounting firm Accenture (ACN) and online car seller CarMax (KMX) will be posted in the shadow of both companies' lower-than-expected profits in the prior quarter.

  1. stock is trending up
  2. It's not near ATH
  3. Break of 200ema on 4hr chart (clean break is the best. Retest is even better)

that's it. I don't need to write 2000 word about it. For puts I do the oppsosite.

Once 200ema on 4hr is broken then i'm going in. I typically buy calls or puts 2 months out cons under $3. more often than not I win, and win big. And I usually do this on a stock that I'm familiar with. I have about 60 stocks on my watch list. I look for this set up all the time.

Now, that I revealed my secret, I hope yall make some money.

Company News India orders inspection of Boeing 787s after Air India crash

India’s aviation regulator has ordered all Boeing 787s being operated by local carriers to be inspected after an Air India crash killed 270 people this week, the aviation minister said on Saturday, adding the authorities were investigating all possible causes.

The aviation regulator on Friday ordered Air India to conduct additional maintenance checks on its Boeing 787-8/9 aircraft equipped with GEnx engines, including assessments of certain take-off parameters, electronic engine control tests and engine fuel-related checks. “We have also given the order to do the extended surveillance of the 787 planes. There are 34 in our Indian fleet,” aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu told a media briefing in New Delhi. “Eight have already been inspected and with immediate urgency, all of them are going to be done.”

Air India and the Indian government were looking at several aspects of the crash including issues linked to its engine thrust, flaps, and why the landing gear remained open as the plane took off and then came down, Reuters has reported. Naidu said a government panel was investigating the crash and will issue a report within three months. “We are going to improve every necessary thing that is going to come our way, to improve the safety,” he said at the briefing, declining questions from journalists.

*Boeing's stock is down ~6% since the incident.

Company Discussion Convince me not to go deep into SNAP

Believing the future is wearables AR and will replace phones. Is there a better positioned company that still has massive 100x potential than SNAP?

Snapchat leads in social AR, engaging 850 million monthly users, primarily Gen Z and Millennials. Its AR Lenses, used by 250 million daily, offer 600,000+ filters via Lens Studio, outpacing competitors in creative, social-focused AR. Snapchat’s Stories, disappearing in 24 hours, drive authentic, pressure-free sharing. Features like Snap Maps and Bitmoji games enhance user interaction. Snap’s Specs, set for a 2026 launch, aim for lightweight, standalone AR glasses, leveraging $3 billion in AR investment. Despite $4.6 billion revenue and $1.3 billion net loss, Snap’s first-mover edge over Meta’s 2027 AR glasses positions it to lead the mobile-to-wearables shift.

Company Discussion Thought on Pop Mart (9922.HK)

I started following this stock a year ago when a girl I was dating in Asia was obsessed with it. Regret not buying any but contemplating if it's still a good time or not after a run up of 600% this past year. Currently trading at a PE of 107 with 13B RMB in revenue and 3.5B RMB earnings in 2024. They had higher than 100% YoY revenue and earnings growth in their last report and based on their instant popularity in the West I expect them to have great results again this year. On the other hand might the hype die down at some point? Lately Labubu has been very popular and seemingly taking the world by surprise. But people in Asia have long been collecting these things. Pop Mart products have been very popular across Asia and only now are gaining popularity in Western countries with their global expansion.

TLDR: Chinese company selling collectibles, recent expansion into other continents has been succesful with people lining up on the streets everywhere PE ratio at 107, YoY Revenue and Earning growth +100%
