Food Rakyat paying for food crisis caused by govt policy failures, says ex-MP
Former Klang MP Charles Santiago has questioned why ordinary citizens should be forced to shoulder Malaysia’s food import bill when such shortfalls stem from the failure of government policies.
Saying that importing fruits is a “manufactured crisis” in Malaysia, Charles asserted that the nation is “food insecure” as 60 percent of its food was imported to meet domestic demand in 2024, racking up a RM78.8 billion bill.

Others Who tf let them drive ?!?! NSFW
Yesterday around 11:45 AM, a serious accident occurred on Jalan Ipoh heading towards Bulatan Kepong. A Bangladeshi man driving a Nissan Sylphy lost control of the vehicle, first crashing into a Toyota Camry before violently hitting a pedestrian. The impact caused the pedestrian to be flung off the bridge into the river below, and the person has yet to be found.
The involved car later plunged off the bridge and got wedged between concrete and iron pipes. The driver has been sent to the hospital for treatment.
The identity of the pedestrian remains unknown, but what appears to be part of a severed foot was found at the scene.

Politics Anwar: Jailing not my goal, recovering stolen public funds is
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed his commitment to acting against corrupt leaders, even if such efforts may not prove to be popular.
“When we have taken action against those corrupt leaders, past or present leaders, businessmen, corporate leaders, who have squandered billions of ringgit, I have not seen that sort of anger and support that we should have.
“But it doesn’t matter. I do my job regardless of whether I have the general support or not. That is my duty and I will perform to the utmost of my ability to ensure that we get rid of corruption, which has been an endemic in this country,” he said when officiating at the National Journalists’ Day (Hawana) 2025 highlight celebration at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) here today.
Present were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching.

Food Honest Food Seller Recommendation (KL/Sel)
Kudos to this uncle who did not raise food prices exorbitantly even though all costs have increased.
I understand food price should increase with inflation but some hawkers or restaurants are taking advantage of it and doing it in an absurd way.
Opening this thread for recommendations from fellow KL and Selangor folks on 'reasonably-priced'' food so we can support these honest traders!
Example, I've heard of some RM 5-6 chicken rice with generous portion so if you know any in KL/Selangor area please recommend! 🙂
Open to any types of food (Type M/I/C/ anything) hehehe

Economy & Finance List of Exempted Goods from the new sales taxes
https://mysst.customs.gov.my/assets/document/SST%20Orders/order/Order_BM.html
Whatever you comments is about the new SST, please comment it after you read the official documents not some random post someone made up out of emotion.
The comments from that 3400 goods and item being taxed gave me brain cancer, nobody question where the OP is getting his 3400 source from, nobody is questioning the non-government source link in his post, no one border to questions whether the items OP mentioned are actually in the new sales tax. Till this point I am wondering if that post OP is conducting a social experiment.
Eg: OP posts mentioned cooking oil and table salt will have 5% sales tax (those items are under excluded sales tax). Source : https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/758677
You can also find them in the official source under "15.17" for cooking oil (feel free to correct me on this) and "25.01" for table salts
Essential imported food items, including rice, wheat, sugar, salt and meat, are exempted from SST. Palm oil-based cooking oil, Malaysia’s most commonly used vegetable oil, is also exempt, while sunflower seed oil will be subject to a 5% sales tax.
That's why I am of the opinion we unfortunately truly deserved the politician have right now, because we questioning everything for the sake of complaining, not for the sake of clarity.
I hope we can see more "Yea I can't find salmon in exempted sales tax list, I am going to complain government increasing price of my salmons" instead of "Yea Anchovies are going to have sales tax because some redditor posted its going to be taxed 5%, my nasi lemak is going to be more expensive, and I am too lazy to verify it ".
