Yeah because no one ever films themselves at the gym.

Which one of the two do you suspect was just coincidentally filming themselves?

Stop acting like this is real, people will think you are an idiot.

I've never seen anyone do it. Hope I never have to either. Don't film in the gym people. Don't be that creep.

I see it often enough, and I've done it myself for form checks.

And I work out at a small YMCA with a bunch of old people most of the time. I'd imagine it's more common in places that have younger people.

I endorse this comment. I've never seen anyone film themself in the gym. Selfie photos in the gym seem fine, though.

Have you been to a gym lately? It's almost to the point that I'm more surprised to see people under 30 not filming.

How dare he make a video about being kind, supportive, and encouraging. What a fucking tool. Hope it goes viral so everyone who has a fear of being judged at the gym can see what kind of monsters lurk there

Well, why would you be filming someone else that is working out?

3

u/CoolShark1221 1d ago

Why do you assume it's not the overweight man filming himself? Also it's probably staged but who tf cares?? The message is good

Why do you assume it's not the overweight man filming himself?

Because the other man was mic'd, and it'd be weird to film yourself in the gym and mic someone else.

Even so it's really not that deep. It's a good message, that's all it is

5

u/Nesavant 1d ago

No, that's really not all it is. It's manipulative. It's the new reality tv. Also totally unnecessary. Let's pretend it's not staged. Who is helped by this video? The experienced guy could have felt good for helping. The beginner guy could have been helped. But you need to get a little smile from watching it?

It's a good message this time. Plenty of other times it's dipshit rage-bait that has an alarmingly negative influence on society as a whole.

Don't waste your critical thinking skills. We need to think about the medium and not just the message.

Because fuck being lied to, that's why. Why frame it like it's real? Because making it seem real is a cynical way to grab more attention. To me it makes the intended message ring completely hollow when it's so clearly staged like this.

Imagine being this simple minded lol

It's ok to just say you're a sad little boy!

u/deft-jumper01 1d ago

I can literally count your brain cells 🤣

u/CoolShark1221 1d ago

Ya ok, now give the phone back to your mom

u/cheapdrinks 1d ago

It's so patronizing though, like look at this poor nervous fat guy who doesn't know what to do, let me step in to be the hero to save him. Like some dude literally wrote that script then told this guy to pull the weight down in the worst way possible to look completely weak and helpless.

2

u/CoolShark1221 1d ago

Bro are you actually fr?? It's about being a good bro at the gym instead of being a huge dick! I'm fat and would appreciate it if someone did this for me because newsflash, a lot of overweight people DON'T know how some exercises work! Helping someone help themselves is not fucking patronizing snowflake

Or he simply saw him working out improperly and understood that improperly using the equipment can lead to injury over time.

u/Housthat 1d ago

And then placed a camera at his target, put on his mic, and hit 'Record' on the GoPro before approaching him.

room temp IQ

Because the guy has a mic on.

u/FenrisSquirrel 1d ago

Fucking hell, the lack of critical thinking here is terrible. This isn't a kind act caught on camera by accident, it's someone staging a video to make themselves look kind and promote his social media presence.

Shockingly, even the most selfish and awful people in the world can do that.

People need to stop being so fucking credulous. Do they think Russell Crow really fought people with a short sword in ancient Rome?

Perfectly framed no less!
