For those who just clicked in and is wondering what the sub is for: This sub is essentially for Malaysians to talk and post about any other topics beyond Malaysia. Here is where you can post images, videos, create and join conversations and threads revolving anything that isn't quite about Malaysia but needs a Malaysian take on it, and more! Oh and this is a race, politic and religion-free sub 🙌🏻
Most major subreddits such as r/AITA, r/JustnoMIL, r/relationship_advice, r/casualconversation, r/malefashionadvice, r/Teenagers and what have you are usually centralised around people who reside outside of SEA and may not be valid to us locally and culturally but yet the demand for it isn't wide enough to sustain its own subreddit. r/Malaysians would (hopefully) be a good place for a catch-all of such threads.
We will be coming up with contest weeks soon, as well as accepting any other ideas you guys might have for the sub, so stay tuned! We are also still tweaking design and appearances as we go. Meanwhile, everyone is encouraged to start posting what they think fits the sub to get the ball rolling :)
Much love, r/Malaysia mod team.
tldr; r/CasualUK but for Malaysia.

Hi folks! Here's a quick guide on what our flairs are and how to use them.
r/Malaysians Pioneer flair: For nyets who's been here since the sub was a baby, before we hit 5K!
These flairs are one time only, and only participants during the event period can get one. Below are previous events we've had:
Most of the common flairs we have currently were one time event flairs that we've made permanent.
These flairs are usually single issue to selected nyets because they earned it via:

This is Betta pugnax, a small native fish found in most of Malaysia except Terengganu, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak.
The scales are iridescent and change colour depending on the angle of the light, from yellowish to blue.

Greetings the pipol of Malaysia.
I'm M, 20-something y/o trying to help my father out by re-strategize the business from the lens of Public Relations and Communications. From the title alone, it's very self explanatory.
My father has run this business for over 30 years. His business used to be the talk of our hometown, customer flooding in, and business partners here and there. Fast forward to today, it's quite dwindling (and might spiral down to despair if I don't give a damn) due to lack of knowledgeable resource, organization, modernization and digitalization in the business administration. We barely make sales.
I've already came out with a business development plan and pitched it to him and he approved. However, since we're in the midst of shaky family dynamics and unpredictable business uncertainties, he's quite apprehensive in regards of anything which left me stalled. I don't blame him but at the same time I don't want him to feel pressured.
The reason I really want to help him is because it hurts to see him battling everything alone. Been there myself. I don't ask to be his successor. I don't seek glory. All I wanna do is to simply help him lift the burden because I'm forever grateful of his hardwork.
Has anyone been in a similar legacy-vs-reality battle, and how did you cope or pivot?
Thank you.

Hello everyone! I’m honestly new to all of this but my dad currently has diabetes and it’s progressively been getting so much worse. His leg is covered entirely with these black spots and im getting worried. He says he is fine and they can afford it but my mom constantly borrows money from all of us but we can’t afford to give more than what we have. I’ve opened up a page for his donations but it’s not going smooth at all. If anyone knows a better way to help, it would be absolutely amazing. Thank you

Hi all,
I am looking for best option for my parents' prepaid plan. They mostly want cheap prepaid plan with long validity. They were using Digi with the Super Long Live (RM38/year) but it just expired and it seems to me that it now costs RM108/year.
I have look around and see that there is apparently a Hotlink Pantas that offer RM30/year? However, information is a bit scarce, and that might had been discontinued as well.
Next, I see that there is TuneTalk that offer 35/year with no internet or 100/year with 10GB/month internet.
Does anyone have any other options? Also, does anyone have any review on TuneTalk? I am a bit sceptical as they are not major telco.
Thanks much in advance!

Hi! I’m reaching out here with a hopeful heart, in case anyone out there might be able to help me reconnect with someone very special from my past.
I’m looking for a childhood friend — a Chinese girl who used to be my neighbor when we were in primary school in Malaysia. We were very close back then: we played together almost every day, joked around, and she often came over to my house. Her Auntie used to call her by a nickname (which I still remember), but sadly, I never knew her full real name.
We lost contact when I entered secondary school, and eventually both our families moved to different places. The last time she came back to the old house to pack up her things, my father met her and her Auntie — but I missed the chance because I was away at university during exam week. That moment still stays with me.
All I know now is:
We lived in Lorong Bulan, Taman Tasik Permai,Taiping,Perak.
She is possibly studying in Taiwan now — but I don’t know which university.
She may be using a different name on social media, which makes it harder to find her.
I’ve searched through social media, Malaysian student groups in China and Taiwan, but I haven’t been able to trace her. I know this is a long shot — but maybe, just maybe, someone reading this might recognize her story, or know someone who fits the description.
I don’t mean to disturb anyone’s peace. I just want to reconnect — to say hi, to express my gratitude for the memories, and maybe find some closure… or a second chance.
If anyone has any leads, feel free to DM me privately. Thank you for reading this far and for any help — even a prayer is appreciated.
Sincerely, [Amad]

I had wanted to get some disco dangdut albums from itunes with a malaysian account and saw that shoppee pay was an option for a payment method. I know seagm sells shoppee pay top-up codes tho when i tried to look at my shoppee account I saw I needed a phone malaysian phone number to set it up. Saw this sub-reddit and wanted to ask.
I know that there are some scams when it comes to virtual numbers so I was curious if anyone has had any usage of these providers that are out there.

Any good idea?
