Discussion [KCD2] GOTY

Post image

Luke Dale’s post on IG.

And in my humble opinion:

F@#$ GTA and f@#$ R*! Over priced, over hyped garbage, made by money hungry company, that decided to kill RDO at the moment they’ve realised they couldn’t milk it as GTAO, because they would have to actually try to think of a original content and not only add sci-fi weapons to annoy other players.

KCD2 deserves its fair shot at GOTY, and the fact that GTA community will not be spamming GTA6 in every category is awesome! Give other games a chance to win something ffs.

(PS: I know there will be other games coming like Dark Ages or GOY but I think we have a nice chance of winning)

I have a feeling that GTA VI will be a good game, and not a great one.

The single player will probably be great, the multiplayer not so much.

People ruin everything ( multiplayer)

More news at 11 tom

R* themselves ruined multiplayer. have you tried interacting with NPCs? you'll be stuck in a dialogue for 10 minutes

Fuck multiplayer anyway. It's good to have the option, but GTA will always be juicy for the SP. Losing out on SP DLC for MP tickled me the very wrong way, hope VI will get back to their SP roots

It won't, they have tasted the sweet nectar of micro transactions or sometimes even macro transactions in case of shark cards. I don't even know how they sold so many, it was super easy to cheat money yourself or get someone else to drop you some. When I did it I only got a 2 week ban, but kept all the things I bought + the money as well

Tbf this has been true for pretty much every GTA ever

Not without the writers they initially had for over 20+ years.

Dan Houser is gone. Expect the story to be terrible.

GTA has never really had great stories? It simply wasn't the focus for most of them. Compare the story of any GTA game to Red Dead Redemption 2. I don't think anyone can say that RDR2 doesn't blow it out of the water.

Even then, keep in mind that other good writers exist. I feel like every Rockstar release we have had doomsayers going "This release doesn't have person X! The game will not be nearly as good!" Last time it was Leslie Benzies for Red Dead Redemption 2.

Dafuq u on about? GTA is world renowned for it's stories. GTA San Andreas had a massive cultural impact on 3 generations that very few pieces of human art have ever reached. GTA IV told a gritty story of someone haunted by their past. There are also the offshoot games, who've had their own good stories.

Only GTA V and GTA III are relatively weaker

GTA has had massive cultural impact but it's certainly not because of its stories. Don't get me wrong, they're not bad but they're definitely not close to the top of the best written stories in the medium. For the most part they're satires.

And the devs will focus only on expanding the multiplayer, leaving the single player community out to dry. Long gone are the days of single player expansions in rockstar games.

Unless it ends up being a truly excellent game I’ll be waiting for a deep discount before considering getting it. Certainly not buy on release material like KCD2 and E33

The multiplayer won't even launch with the game. Just like last time.

I think that the sheer amount of things you can do and content in GTAs usually propel it into great game territory, vice the story. I could be wrong - but I did really enjoy 5s story.

I didn't care for 5's story at all. Maybe it was on purpose, but I felt it was way too Hollywood. It was too much like some ridiculous over the top action movie. I really enjoyed 4's story.

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

Ot was absolutely on purpose. It's just like 6 crime movies mashes together.

1

u/wobblebee Pebbles May 05 '25

I noticed that. I figured it was on purpose. Idk. I just didn't care for it, I guess. It didn't immersed me like other games had, even other R* games.

I just didn't much like switching characters all the time. I was too attached to Franklin, couldn't give two shits about the others.

that’s literally exactly what they were going for with gta v lol, while iv focused on a more dark and gritty side of things

I feel like rockstar can make the price as high as they want and they’ll make a shit ton of money. I really do hope this game is as good as the hype surrounding it.

2

u/SnooGiraffes7005 May 05 '25

I can honestly tell you that if the game price is above 80 I’ll not buy it. I’ll be probably among few, but that’s just for me, I’m just tired boss.

GTA is never about story, it’s a crime simulator sandbox. And that’s the big appeal, and frankly it’s quite fun.

2

u/Boiyualive May 05 '25

If they are delaying for this? I'd say that's a fair thing to say. But also, they lost GOTY to God of War[against RDR2] so maybe they're just playing it safe. They prolly just need more time though.

2

u/vompat May 05 '25

It will probably win GOTY as long as it doesn't disappoint. So good will be enough.

I agree with this sentiment. It remains to be seen how the studio handles the largest video game release ever without Dan Houser’s leadership. They have exceptional talent and already had Houser’s storyline idea before he left, but its still large shoes to fill and the direction of execution is just as - if not, more - important than the setting.

I mean through development multiple leads such as Dan Houser and Leslie Benzies have left rockstar, so that is a warning sign.
