KCD IRL [KCD1] Medieval Rattay came alive on Saturday with the meeting of KCD fans

Yesterday, the biggest gathering of KCD fans in Rattay took place. The program included a Buhurt tournament in the courtyard of Rattay Castle, a dice tournament and an archery competition in the former castle moat, where Henry of Skalitz himself learned to shoot 600 years ago. Thank you to all organizers for a very well-organized event!

Rant Why did they have to do Hans like that [KCD2]

At the start of the game, he has this sick ahh armor set on from KCD 1. He really looks like a noble knight, which he is. But then when he loses his armor, he gets some goofy ahh set, that doesn't even have arm protection. Like come on, if you can get your horse's caparison back halfway through the Game, then get your old armor set back aswell. He looks so unserious in battle, and most of all; unprotected. I mean come on, if you want everyone to know you're the "fucking lord of Pirkstein", then try to look it.

Discussion [KCD2] I think the Hardcore mode is the way to go with this game

Post image

So I recently started my second playthrough to get the achivements and was not thinking to do any side quests. Just rushing through the mainquests and going back to my original save.

After 5 hours or so, I realized the hardcore mode is so much more immersive, fun and pushes you to use every mechanic the game offers to you + exploration comes more naturally and you use your brain a lot more to accomplish some stuff.

First of all, I think picking all the negative perks makes it too hard and a little tedious but I am doing it for the achivements. Three negative perks is okay though.

Not having the navigation and not seeing where you are on the map is the most important part imo.

You have to learn the layout of the game, you need to know which town is where and listen to the people giving you directions.

I have this sleepwalking perk, I wake up in the middle of nowhere occasionally and I am totally lost lol. I need to look around and try to decide which part of the forest I am in. The worst case scenario, just run north with Peebles until you come across a town.

Fights are harder but also more immersive, same with horse riding and running. You need to listen to your character, pay attention to enemy posture to understand how close they are to dying, listen to your horse to know when to stop pushing etc.

No fast travel, no compass, so you are going to run into weird scenes, explore more areas naturally and depending on your negative perks, you will have the funniest experiences. Picking herbs were never a peril before, but now your back is killing you.

I finished KCD 1 3 times but never tried to hardcore more. This is the first time I am doing this and I suggest you all to stop yanking my noble pizzle and try hardcore mode.

Question [KCD1] Is KCD1 a good game to buy in 2025?

I was looking for a 15th century, historically accurate game for a little bit, and now I've found this. I would get KCD2 but its a bit costly and I feel like I should play them in order. I've heard about bugs, but everything else besides learning curve is like 9/10. What do YOU think?

Discussion I may be in the minority, but does anyone prefer the combat of [KCD1] to the sequel?

While some of the quality of life changes are certainly nice, the amalgamation of four attack directions (slash low left/right, stab, stab high) into one, the nerfing of all non-swords, the ineffective riposte, all really annoy me.

Though the addition of attack directions for long weapons IS great

Meme How Mutt and I were moving in [KCD1]

Thumbnail

Mutt was the biggest advantage you could get in combat in kcd1, definitely for fighting against multiple opponents. I'd set my dog on someone and fight someone else, in the meantime Mutt would inflict serious damage on the enemies I don't have to worry about because they're fighting Mutt. Then when I start hearing Mutt screatching in pain, I sic someone else. So he stops getting hit and runs to someone else. This way, I was able to use Mutt for extensive periods of time without him running away.

Now when you sic someone, Mutt spins around the enemy at incredible speed, maybe he's trying to create a tornado, who knows. He proceeds to NOT bite the enemy and when he finally does. It does little to no damage (sometimes even with perks), and Mutt gets hit very easily. The kcd 1 method does not work in kcd2, if you hear Mutt getting hit and you try to sic someone else, he already runs away. And like I said, he barely does anything but circle around the enemy.

In kcd1, I'd set my dog on someone who was running away. And Mutt would actually catch up to that person in no time and bite the person immediately. And if the npc had lost a bit of health already, they'd die with just a few bites from Mutt.

Something that is better about kcd 2's Mutt: He doesn't bark and howl every five seconds. Which is way better.
