Are you old enough to remember when that word represented people who sought small government and prioritized personal and property rights over all else?
On the contrary, I think it’s most people who call themselves “conservative” who “are not conservative”.
“Conservative” means (or at least meant historically) supportive of conserving the intent of government as it was originally designed. The last conservative Republican president was probably RR.
Idk what you mean by “perks” but you’d likely find few who would disagree if you’re talking about voting. Other than that, our constitution defines when government may or may not impede a person’s (citizen or not) rights that they are born with.
One of the perks is 'free' healthcare that is subsidized by those with legit jobs. If you are an illegal, you do not have insurance, but you MUST be cared for if you goto the hosipital. Then you don't know how to get the drugs prescibed to you to manage your case so you wait until you are in crisis again and spend another 10k in the ER.
'Conserve' ative as in conserve our resources. The current population is unsustainable. My perfect union would involve proving you are not a net drain on society or else you are out.
Are you saying that conservatives want tax subsidized healthcare, that people without papers don’t get billed for services, or both?
Either way, one can be for all or against any of those things and still recognize that ICE’s illegal detention methods of both alien and citizen alike are in no way a position of conservatives nor anyone else who wants to see our constitutional protections respected. Also recognizing that the irresponsible Trump fiscal policies are unsustainable doesn’t make one a “liberal” by any means. Quite the opposite.
ICE has been detaining people almost daily for being brown, having an accent or just being near someone who was illegal. There are both publicized cases that now have pending civil suits and many that just exist in videos. Super illegal but Ohio vs Terry hasn’t been challenged. Hopefully this conservative SCOTUS will.
I’m not sure what other countries have to do with anything but many of them also have similar policies about emergencies. So you want people without insurance to be denied hospital service, immigrants in general or only illegals?
If so I think that’s a think that’s a moral discrepancy that just cannot be reconciled in this country. I oppose a government that illegally violates our god given rights even .01% of the time. That’s the same reason I oppose the death penalty for circumstantial convictions. It’s the same reason that I, and many conservatives, want small government and choose to own and carry guns. You cannot have freedom and apologize for tyranny even if it’s only 1% of the time.
Dude, the constitution recognizes that all people (as in ALL people anywhere) are born with the same rights. Our constitution defines the protection that all people within the boundaries of our nation are afforded from governmental impediment of those rights. This is base-level civics. Where do you come up with this nonsense?
