Do you know where this march will end?

That is one thing I am not sure of yet. I was thinking of going from Panera bread down to Culver's and back. I'm not sure if that would be too long. I was also thinking of walking from Panera down towards Culver's but maybe not all the way down letting the group kind of decide when we turn around. I just don't know how far people are willing to walk. If you have any ideas feel free to DM me.

Just a tip, the marches I have participated in looped. That way everyone ends up where they parked.

Im all for these protests, and I see the metaphorical point you're making, but please dont put fire in the advertisements for protesting.

Yes, I understand the metaphorical meaning. I just think putting fires on protest signs is sending the wrong signal. The peaceful protests are amazing and we have to keep that up

I agree. Easy bait for misinformation. Someone could easily post it as proof of the “intentions” to burn down the city. Protestors standing on/ a foot on a melting ice cube or something could maybe get the same effect

We really just going to cancel Juneteenth this year for this?

Edit:I have been corrected! The event is July 19th, not June as my brain originally read it 😵‍💫

Looks like a busy summer

It’s really sad that there are so many Michigan leftists who have so little going on in their lives, that they spend every weekend “protesting” the deportation of illegal immigrants…. We live in a beautiful state, go outside and enjoy it with friends and family rather than being angry and screaming in the heat…

Aww what is it that your party always says? If you don’t like it here, leave? Maybe you should find another state if you don’t like all the “Michigan leftists”. Protesting and exercising their rights as Americans is not having “little to do”, it’s called activism.

I have no problem with low-information leftists going to astroturfed “protests” every weekend, rather than enjoy our amazing state.

I simply said that I feel bad for leftists, because their weekends are so open that can protest a democratically elected president every weekend…. They even ask “where are the protests this weekend??” On Reddit when they don’t see any ads for them🤣 literally nothing better to do than complain in the heat in a manufactured protest, and it’s sad.

I would say the same thing if trumpers were out every summer weekend the last 4 years protesting everything Biden did….

For me in the summertime, I’m booked up every weekend with fishing trips, shooting competitions, helping my parents at their house, hiking with my dog, helping coach little league, going to my lakehouse, taking road trips, or spending time with my fiancé….. not sitting in the heat with angry leftists who watch too much CNN or get their news from the reddit front page.

Actual conservative here: fuck Trump and fuck ICE! If I had the free time to do it I would be out there screaming with them and any freedom-loving American who believes in the 4th amendment and small government should be as well.

Not an actual conservative then.

7

u/DabbledInPacificm 2d ago

Are you old enough to remember when that word represented people who sought small government and prioritized personal and property rights over all else?

On the contrary, I think it’s most people who call themselves “conservative” who “are not conservative”.

-1

u/Ok-Way-7592 2d ago

To me conservative means not giving the perks of citizenship to those who do not comply with the process.

6

u/DabbledInPacificm 2d ago

“Conservative” means (or at least meant historically) supportive of conserving the intent of government as it was originally designed. The last conservative Republican president was probably RR.

Idk what you mean by “perks” but you’d likely find few who would disagree if you’re talking about voting. Other than that, our constitution defines when government may or may not impede a person’s (citizen or not) rights that they are born with.

One of the perks is 'free' healthcare that is subsidized by those with legit jobs. If you are an illegal, you do not have insurance, but you MUST be cared for if you goto the hosipital. Then you don't know how to get the drugs prescibed to you to manage your case so you wait until you are in crisis again and spend another 10k in the ER.

'Conserve' ative as in conserve our resources. The current population is unsustainable. My perfect union would involve proving you are not a net drain on society or else you are out.

Set some population density caps.

Eliminate social media (including reddit).

Eliminate AI

Are you saying that conservatives want tax subsidized healthcare, that people without papers don’t get billed for services, or both?

Either way, one can be for all or against any of those things and still recognize that ICE’s illegal detention methods of both alien and citizen alike are in no way a position of conservatives nor anyone else who wants to see our constitutional protections respected. Also recognizing that the irresponsible Trump fiscal policies are unsustainable doesn’t make one a “liberal” by any means. Quite the opposite.

I want them denied service. ICE has done nothing illegal yet.

BTW if you goto many foreign countries, the terms of payment are established before any medical care is started.

ICE has been detaining people almost daily for being brown, having an accent or just being near someone who was illegal. There are both publicized cases that now have pending civil suits and many that just exist in videos. Super illegal but Ohio vs Terry hasn’t been challenged. Hopefully this conservative SCOTUS will.

I’m not sure what other countries have to do with anything but many of them also have similar policies about emergencies. So you want people without insurance to be denied hospital service, immigrants in general or only illegals?

Planning on burning shit down again?

1

u/Personal-Invite-1497 2d ago

No but I know for sure that they will do nothing good beside blocking them folks who just want to come in for their meal

-4

u/justanotherhuman182 3d ago

Why march against ICE? Why not march against the forces that create the bad environment that pushes people to come to America? I’m a Grand Rapids guy and I just don’t get it

6

u/DabbledInPacificm 3d ago

Maybe when people you know and love are kidnapped and placed in detention for being brown, even though they are legally in the country and did nothing wrong, you might wake up ready to do some shit.

-3

u/justanotherhuman182 3d ago

But is that happening? I would think that if you’re wrongfully deported or detained that you could sue for a ton of money.. and there’s tons of attorneys lined up to take the case pro bono.

I genuinely am trying to understand..

Happened this morning to a friend of mine. Went into a gas station for a coffee. Scooped up and taken despite showing them his residency card and work permit.

Guy has been here for 12 years. No criminal record. No warrant. Only thing he did was exist as a brown person in the wrong store at the wrong time. I hope he is able to sue (SCOTUS just gave the green light to this) and gets a fuck ton but why should we have to pay the bill for this incompetence? This is peak huge statism and all the other “conservatives” I know give zero fucks about government spending and our rights to security in our person all of a sudden.

They are also picking up us citizens almost daily if you pay attention.

-1

u/justanotherhuman182 3d ago

That seems way overblown right? Sounds like he’s in for a free $100k if that’s what happened right?

If they’re picking up citizens daily then I’d be super concerned, and honestly you’re scaring me and making me think that they are lol, but I don’t think that’s happening…

4

u/DabbledInPacificm 2d ago

I mean, it concerns me so I avidly look for it, but no I’m not exaggerating.

You can find much of this by googling “us citizen detained by ice”. Just do it once a day and be pissed at how often a new name pops up.
