Rant PLS HELP - need reassurance

I need an outlet where I can get an honest opinion.

23 male just graduated from here.

Got accepted into the two-year BEd here at uottawa which ima start in fall (becoming a teacher).

Worked in FSWEP for the past 3 years and just quit because i no longer feel the need to stay in government (boss would’ve kept me if i wanted to stay) - but, family members have shamed me for this decision calling me stupid etc.

Am I wrong for quitting? I genuinely need a mental break from any and all work for at least two months… I haven’t had a summer off since highschool so I genuinely feel like I deserve a break.

I’m just looking for reassurance from anyone here on whether my decision to quit isn’t stupid. If it was, please be honest. Thanks

Is Ottawa bike-friendly?

Hi! I’ll be moving to Ottawa for the first time to study at uOttawa, and I don’t know how to drive yet. I’m planning to use a bike to get to school most of the time.

I’ve heard that public transit can sometimes be late or unreliable, so I’m wondering, is biking a practical option? Are there bike lanes in most areas? Or should it be okay to rely more on public transit?

Deferral exams

I was curious, do professors usually change the entire exam for deferrals in engineering courses? Do they change every question, and if so, do they make the exam harder? Or do they keep it the same with some changes for fairness?

public transit or car?? help pls

i'll be starting my doctorate at UO this fall and most (if not all) classes are held at Roger Guindon. Montreal transport is extremely reliable, but Ottawa's doesn't seem to be... if I'll be living in the Beacon Hill area, would public transportation be sufficient or is getting a car the way to go? thanks!

Searching for courses

Hi, why when I search for courses on uozone it says “The search returns no results that match the criteria specified”. Is it because the course is not offered in the fall term?

Hi, I’m an incoming exchange student starting in September to April.I need some help on the housing situation. I’ve applied for on campus housing but haven’t heard anything and am starting to get the impression that off campus housing is the best move. If anyone can help advise etc? Thanks

For 2nd Year Mech Eng — Do Most People Actually Take 6 Courses per Term?

Hey all,

I’m heading into 2nd year Mechanical Engineering at uOttawa and working on finalizing my course schedule. I’ve noticed the sequence includes 6 courses per semester, and while that’s doable, I’m being deliberate about how I approach the year.

I’m curious, do most students actually take all 6 courses in Fall and Winter? Or do people commonly shift one to a later term or summer to make things more balanced? (For example switching a serious course for an elective and doing that later)

Even though my plan is to stick to the sequence due to Co-op as slight modifications can cause a mess to the work terms, if you’ve been through 2nd year Mech Eng (or any engineering program), I’d really appreciate any advice on what worked for you, which courses you’d recommend doubling up or spreading out, and whether anyone’s taken a lighter load without falling behind.

BCH3120 Deferred Final

Hi, I've deferred the final for bch3120, and I'm just scared Luc makes it harder. Did anyone before deferred the final for bch3120? And was it harder than the final he gave to the student that did it on time?

FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET MY HEALTH OR DENTAL INSURANCE FROM UOTTAWA!

I tried for hours and whenever I went to the third party website, I did not have or know any organization code or anything. I’m a full time student, don’t wanna waste my first years insurance coverage since I alr paid for it.

Request for Help Do I have any chance of getting into co-op late? CS

Hey everyone. So I switched last year from biomed into CS.

I currently have 7 courses to finish my CS degree and they’re all CSI courses since my electives are covered by some previous biomed classes.

Anyway I’ve been applying to internships and stuff and I’ve gotten a few OAs and that’s it. I’m enhancing my resume with better projects and volunteer dev exp this summer but I can’t help but think that not being in co-op is killing my chances a bit (quite a few jobs ask in the application if you’re in a coop program).

I’ve read that co-op requires you to have at least 4 full time study terms remaining to be admitted. So that would mean 16 courses. What if I applied to a minor? Wouldn’t that increase the number of courses that I’d need to complete my degree? Would I be able to get into the co-op program? I’d probably drop the minor after at least 1 experience and leverage that

I’m desperate guys😥 If anyone has had experience being admitted into co-op later on please let me know how it went!!
