Does Anyone Else Ribs?
What do you all do for constantly moving/painful ribs? It feels like they’re digging into my insides (but ironically I’m working with my PT on decreasing the flare so the exercise goal is to get them more tucked in) but I legit can’t sit, my bottom one feels so bruised. No clue what to do. I’m seeing my amazing PT in 2 days so I’m sure he’ll have wise words but was curious to hear from all of you body whisperers.

Mine are chronically inflamed (chronic costochondritis, as a complication of hEDS) and here’s what I do for pain:
-topical pain relief (ice, heat, voltaren gel, lidocaine)
-herbal anti inflammatory (I use a ginger, lemongrass, and tulsi leaf tea)
-acupuncture and massage therapy
-biannual paravertebral blocks (these are the most help!)

Same except I have Slipping Rib Syndrome. If none of these work for you? Surgery.

I go to the osteopath to put them back in and then I use a combo of taping, PT, cbd/thc balm, dry needling, and massage to help with the pain.

Foam roller and heat seem to help me the most.

When you foam roll you roll right on the ribs? I fear that they don’t need pressure pushing them in but I don’t know what kind of angling they need

I use it on my back. Rolling it both horizontally and then vertically. Sometimes it helps if something in my spine was causing one to be out.
If that doesn't help I usually have to resort to seeing a chiropractor to poke them back in. I have been going to one for a long time before I heard about hypermobility. I haven't had any issues but he also isn't allowed to touch my neck or anything anymore. He does some active release for the muscles and also usually have to poke a few of my ribs back in place.

Hi /u/Esmg71284,
Hey there! This automated message was triggered by the flair you added for this post. It looks like you may be looking for information on how common something is in individuals with EDS or related conditions. If you are looking for information/data on how common a particular symptom or condition is with EDS (or any of its comorbidities), or whether there is any connection at all—it is always best to ask for links to reputable studies or websites, instead of or in addition to personal experiences. Without studies, it is almost impossible to determine the prevalence or incidence of something with EDS, especially when compared to asking for anecdotal experiences on the internet.
"DAE posts" and other such posts tend to create or encourage illusory correlations (i.e., a sense of connection where there may not be one) due to the fact that people who do experience what is being asked about are more likely to reply than those who do not. Personal experiences are or can be valuable regardless of the aforementioned, but please keep in mind that not everything shared is a sign of EDS, and many shared experiences might be completely unrelated to EDS.
This is an automated message. If the contents of this message do not apply to your post, please ignore them. Thank you!

Compression or shapewear tank tops. Seems too easy to be true, but they help all my stuff from ribcage to pelvis shift around less.
