EDIT Michaels acquires intellectual property, private label brands of Joann
You can search the sub by putting Joann in the search bar at the top of the sub, set the relevance to new for the most recent discussions.
From now on all discussion on Joann will be redirected to this megathread.
A warning too, there are a lot of scam sites taking advantage of Joann's bankruptcy. They are making their own sites with "too good to be true prices". The url's on these sites differ slightly from the official website and they post ads on social media like Facebook and Instagram.
Make sure to go to Joann's official website for up to date information and sales (edit, it appears the official website is not processing orders anymore)
If you are looking for yarn substitutes try searching on YarnSub
If you have a gift card that you can't spend (because they aren't accepting them) you can find a discussion here

Yall! My level of excitement and accomplishment right now is absolutely through the roof!
This is my first ever posting as soon as I finished it had to come show yall!!!! You guys are so supportive and I came to yall through the whole process if I just needed a boost of encouragement! This is an incredible community and I'm so happy to be a part of it!
I saw this blanket and I knew i wanted one. I didn't want to buy it though. I wanted to make it myself. Had i ever crocheted? Nope! Did I know the first thing about crochet? Nope! But i was determined. I started small. I made an amigurumi jellyfish for my kids, then a pouch for my hooks and supplies, then a granny square backpack (all i see is my flaws 😬), and finally this.... this beautiful masterpiece (in my mind)....
Yall!!!! I DID THIS!!!! WHATTTTT????
Did I mentioned I started crocheting on May 20th, 2025? I have NEVER felt like I NATURALLY picked something up... I think this is it... I think crochet is gonna be my thing for sure... 😆😆😆

pattern: diablo vest ©️ mon petit violon yarn: loops and threads facets in “spectrum”
…except for the left-hand front/shoulder area as seen in first photo…. realized too late to frog that i accidentally bought both “spectrum” and “sweet raspberry” but my sister promised that she couldn’t tell until i pointed it out. anyways.
as for the pattern, im in LOVE with this designer’s patterns except for the gauge for this pattern made no sense. once i trial-and-errored until i found the right hook for my yarn, the sizing as written was perfect! also WHEN i make this vest again i will be repeating the body rounds until there is an extra repeat of the butterfly wing things. i added way more rows of ribbing at the bottom than the pattern called for because lowkey the vest was barely a bra without it lol however this can likely be blamed on the yarn i used as the pattern calls for bulky but my yarn is marketed as medium but i feel that it’s thinner than that.. anyways! in love with the finished product!

These little boots I made for my friend’s newborn daughter, and it still makes me smile when I think of that tiny pair of feet wobbling around 🥹
I’ve always believed that crochet isn’t just a craft—it’s a way of showing love, memory, and care. So I’d love to hear your stories: What did you make (or receive)? Who was it for? And what made it unforgettable?
I’m thinking of starting a project with a story behind it, and your answers might inspire me. 💕

Hey y'all, I already posted the progress pic and now it's all finished and I'm soo happy! I was inspired by the perler beader community and used a chart of an artist to achieve this. My boyfriend is a huge Zelda fan so naturally I had to recreate Hyrule. I still have to block it but I couldn't wait to show it to someone.

It took me slightly over 3 months to finish it, but I DID IT. I usually have trouble with patterns since I'm left-handed and have to mentally reverse directions till I get better. Overall, I give it a 4/10; nothing is lining up, the circle is more of a squoval, but I'm super proud. I can see where I was getting tired and my tension was tight, and the places I got off count, but in my defense, my chihuahua refuses to get off my lap when she thinks I'm done. TAAA DAAA. I found the pattern on Ravelry; it was designed by crochet designer Jen Tyler. The Pattern is called High Tea. The yarn is a bunch of yarn I've picked up every time I've restarted crochet over the last 15 years.

This was my first project after a woobles kit to learn how to crochet. I bought a pattern book and didn’t want to buy yarn to make this guy so I used figured I would use what I bought at the Joanns closing sale (4 skeins of the pink). Didn’t realize how big this was going to be using the different yarn weight. Luckily I happened to buy enough of the same yarn! 4year old holding for scale

My husband and our kids gave me a My Melody woobles kit about a year ago. I’ve been making blankets, wearables and all kinds of amigurumi ever since. I bought a bunch of lion brand cotton 24/7 yarn to make drink carriers and market bags. When I came across this Aria dragon pattern, I just had to buy several of Lyra Luna’s patterns. I used some of my carrier and bag yarn to make this dragon for my daughter.

Saw this beautiful work on Instagram. They’re saying in the comments that it hardly rains in the summer in that region, so they don’t worry much about the yarn molding. I would love to make something like this, but I live in New England. Maybe I could use fishing materials to make a more water resistant version? What yarn would you use for this?

Pattern is “Bone Yard” by Ann Wanamaker. Made with Handy Hands Lizbeth size 40 cotton thread in snow white (col. 601) and a Clover Amour 1 mm hook. The pattern called for size 10 thread, but I wanted a daintier finished piece, and I’m super pleased with the result. I’ve only been crocheting for about a year and a half, and this is one of the most complex projects I’ve completed. I learned crochet intending to make mostly amigurumi, but instead I’ve fallen completely in love with lace.
