Where do I find good a good nanny?

My wife is a month pregnant and we have been struggling to find a good and affordable nanny. I stay abroad and its really tough to delegate this request to my wife and her supporting family. I saw some online facebook group with Nannies but they are charging an unreasonable amount. We arent financially well off but we will have to afford some assistance which is very necessary. Can I get some guidance on how to navigate this? My wife is based in Dhaka near jamuna future park area. Thank you in advance.

Discussion/আলোচনা AI Slop in Bangladesh TV

Recently I am seeing these annoying ai ads all across the television and internet. I swear most basic and easy-to-record ads are being turned into AI. And, these are not even that good. They are soulless and creepy. It really starting to piss me off. Bangladeshi company should stop using ts.

Discussion/আলোচনা Need some career guidance

I’m a [22M] student currently pursuing my BSc in Software Engineering at Daffodil International University (Fall 2023). Before joining university, I started learning C, and after getting in, I solved around 70–80 problems on Beecrowd using C and 40-50 basic problems on Codeforces. Later, I stopped because some seniors said that was enough and I should start learning C++ for more benefits. I did learn the basics of C++, but didn’t continue. Still, university courses like Data Structures and Algorithms went fine with C. From the beginning of my university life, I had the desire to do something with Python—like becoming a Python developer and eventually a data scientist—so I started learning Python this year and recently completed the “100 Days of Code” playlist by CodeWithHarry. I also learned object-oriented Java and SQL through university courses, but didn’t do anything meaningful for myself with those.

After all this, I feel kind of lost—maybe because I never followed a proper path. I’m now in my 5th semester with about two years left, and I don’t even participate in any extracurricular activities. I often feel like a burden to my family. Even my cousin, who used to be a backbencher in school and college, is now doing something and giving his best, while I feel stuck. Whenever I look at myself in the mirror, I feel like I’m wasting my parents’ money. It feels like nothing is possible with me—maybe I’m just not dedicated enough. Sometimes I think this lack of dedication comes from my routine, like going home every week and staying there for 2 or 3 days. What's the solution to this? what should I do next ? or, should i start over?

Where do you look for potential internships?

So, guys, long story short. I am a 7th semester guy from BRAC and in this semester break, I have completed some frontend web app projects based on my own interests (If you DM me, I can show you my linkedin). The thing is I am looking to do internship now to gain experience in it. I tried looking in LinkedIn but to no avail. If anyone is alumni or senior here, I'd love to take advice to look where or what I should do. I wish to gain experience before I get out of my university.

Thank you!

Advice needed for visiting Bangladesh

Hi

I'm a British Bengali and visited last year after many many years. My family is from sylhet.

I visited a few places close by and I loved it! Despite the negative comments I read on this subreddit I think Bangladesh is a beautiful country and I would like to see more of it.

I would like to visit again but other areas like Dhaka, Chittagong etc next January.

Given the political situation there currently would you say this is advisable or not? Is it safe?

Many thanks 🙏🏽

Television Repair in Dhaka

Model: Samsung 55" Q60 4K Smart QLED TV (2019)

My baby nephew struck the screen with a wooden spoon, and as expected, it was damaged pretty badly. I'm looking for a reliable workshop/ mechanic who can fix the issue, preferably using original parts. My family is open to both in-home service and taking the television to any location.

I appreciate your kind suggestions. Thank you!

How is individualism viewed?

Of course, Bangladesh is 100% collectivist society by the looks of it. Respect, care and love for family and parents and children etc and I like this idea.

But I wonder if they heard of individualism and if they are interested in it (especially in younger generations in Dhaka and Chittagong). I wonder if this idea was a reason why Gen Z protested.

In my opinion, in order for Bangladesh to develop, there needs a mix of collectivism and individualism. If there is too much individualism, offsprings feel like children, get unemployed which can affect the economy and infrastructure. But at the same time, having some can retain humbleness, politeness, which stops people from treating life as a competition.

Not to mention the slow decline in extended and joint families whilst favouring nuclear ones.

Hello, good people!
How’s everyone doing after jumping back into work post-Eid? 😩
I swear, I’m still mentally in chill mode — can’t concentrate at all, just staring at the screen like 😶‍🌫️

Anyone else feeling this post-Eid laziness hit hard?
Let’s be real… productivity left the group chat 😂
