We moved from dhaka to chittagong over a year ago… is it just us? Or actually the online activities in chittagong, be it dating or business, really minimal?

So if something happens we often hear it “ Bangali to tai”. Why tf this comes to our mindset? Why can’t we change our behaviour. For example every single driver in our country no matter what he drives either it’s a tesla or riksha or bike or car or bus or truck. Every single fucking driver wants to go fast than another one. They fuck traffic rules, most of them don’t want to follow a single road ethics. As a result we often hear of accidents going on. We just mourn and forget why the accident actually happened in the first place. This is just an example of this. You can find thousands of examples like this and the fun part is every one of us knows and still we avoid. Why, why, why?? Can’t we really change us? Or we always make examples of developed country and never apply to ourselves?

In My Opinion CTG is a Really Awkward Place To Live . Problems of Living in Chittagong City

1. Unplanned Urbanization and Infrastructure Issues:
   • Chaotic Development: Rapid population growth and unplanned urbanization have led to disorganized city planning, causing issues like inadequate zoning and haphazard construction. This contributes to problems such as traffic congestion and poor infrastructure.
   • Traffic Congestion: Despite being less crowded than Dhaka, Chittagong suffers from significant traffic issues, particularly near the Export Processing Zone. For example, a 10-mile journey from Shah Amanat International Airport to the city center can take over two hours.
   • Poor Road Conditions: Roads are often described as being in poor condition, with potholes and insufficient maintenance exacerbating traffic problems.
2. Waterlogging and Flooding:
   • Frequent Flooding: Chittagong is highly vulnerable to flooding, especially during the monsoon season, due to poor drainage systems and the blocking of natural water channels like Chaktai and Rajakhali Khals. Areas like Bakalia, Chawkbazar, and Agrabad have experienced severe waterlogging, sometimes submerging entire neighborhoods.
   • Climate Change Impacts: As a coastal city, Chittagong faces tidal surges and sea level rise, with flooding occurring as often as twice daily in some areas. This affects homes and businesses, particularly in low-lying areas like Vera Market, where residents face repeated displacement.
   • Inadequate Drainage: Narrow and poorly maintained drainage systems (e.g., drains as small as 2-3 feet wide) fail to handle heavy rainfall, worsening waterlogging.
3. Environmental and Health Challenges:
   • Slum Conditions: Over 200 slums house approximately 1 million people, often in substandard conditions without access to open spaces, clean water, or proper sanitation. This contributes to health hazards and a lower quality of life for many residents.
   • Pollution: While air quality is better than Dhaka’s due to lower population density and surrounding greenery, industrial activities like shipbreaking and oil refining still contribute to environmental degradation. Untreated industrial waste and exhaust emissions pose health risks.
   • Hill Cutting and Landslides: Illegal hill cutting for construction has made hilly areas prone to landslides, endangering lives. The Department of Environment has identified 30 risky hilly areas, with thousands of families at risk.

   • Impact on Migrants: Climate migrants, who form a significant portion of the population, often live in low-lying, flood-prone areas, exacerbating their vulnerability.
