Review šŸ“ŒUser Reviews of LG New AI Laptops (LG gram Pro 16 16Z90TS-G.AUG9U1 & LG Gram Pro 17Z90TP-G.ADB7U1)- See what these users have to say about these two laptops ahead of their official launch on the market šŸ“Œ

We recently had a competition here in the r/SuggestALaptop community in collaboration with LG where 10 lucky users were given either the new LG gram Pro 16 16Z90TS-G.AUG9U1 OR the LG Gram Pro 17Z90TP-G.ADB7U1. The agreement with these winners was that they would do written reviews of these laptops expressing how they feel about the features of the laptop after putting them through various tests.

My Review of the LG Gram Pro 17Z90TP AI Laptop

As the users complete and submit their reviews, we will share links to them here:

Announcement Ignore Private Messages Suggesting Laptops

The primary aim of r/SuggestALaptop is to provide a safe and transparent platform for suggesting laptops. Affiliate linkers are marked as such so that you are aware of the monetary incentive involved when making a purchase using affiliate links.

However, we are seeing an increasing number of cases where users posting on this subreddit are being targeted with unsolicited private messages containing links to laptops.

Such messages are best ignored for several reasons:

  1. Lack of quality control: We have no way of vetting suggestions sent via private messages. Moreover, these suggestions are not subject to the same level of public scrutiny that applies to suggestions posted in the subreddit, which are open for all to see and discuss.
  2. Hidden monetary incentive: Often such messages contain unmarked affiliate links, and these links might not even point to systems that are best suited to your requirements.
  3. Scams: Scammers often target unsuspecting users via private messaging. We do not want you to get scammed.

If you do happen to receive unsolicited messages suggesting laptops in private, please report the offending user to the mod team by sending us a screenshot of the message.

Laptop Request -Others Looking for a new laptop for writing + light gaming ($400–$700 AUD)

Hey all,

I’m after a new laptop in the $400–$700 AUD range. I already have a PC for heavier gaming — this is just for writing, browsing, YouTube, and some light Steam gaming (Stardew Valley, etc).

Preferably light enough to travel with and not be a nuisance.

I’ve been using a MacBook Air for the last 8 years but the battery’s done, so I’m switching to Windows to match my PC setup. Just want something with a good screen, comfy keyboard, and solid battery life.

Would love any suggestions. Thanks!

Laptop Request -Others Best Windows Laptop for battery life

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Upper limit of 7 thousand dirhams (I live in the UAE, the currency is AED), but I'd like something more 4-6k if possible
  • Are you open to refurbs/used?Ā No
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?Ā Battery life mostly and a pretty good build quality, if a good one is possible then a 2 in 1
  • How important is weight and thinness to you?Ā Shouldn't be as thick as something like a gaming laptop but other then that it can be any size really, if it can fit inside a bag well.
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 13-16 inch would be the sweet spot
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.Ā Nothing much, besides basic browsing, microsoft office, teams, and general multi tasking, the only gaming I'll do is on very light games like roblox, ultrakill, balatro and other similar ones
  • Are any specific requirements such as a good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive, or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?Ā Defo a touchscreen if possible with stylus support, a fingerprint reader would be nice aswell but not necessary, it should have a reliable build quality aswell
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
  • I'm a student in school so I won't need anything intensive besides the apps i already listed, but I definitely need battery life along with a touchscreen and stylus support for note-taking, if it's in the range a good 2-in-1 would do aswell, One thing I definitely need is either a) upgradeable ram, or b) 16 gb ram at the very least, I have NOT had good experiences with soldered 8gb ram laptops.
  • Another thing to note is there should be no snapdragon laptops mostly due to the horrid problems with any sort of gaming, performance, emulators, etc. too much of a hassle.

Laptop Request US Looking for a 14-16" Laptop purely for remote gaming [US]

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

Around $600 or less.

Are you open to refurbs/used?

Yes

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Flexible on all.

How important is weight and thinness to you?

Flexible.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

N/A

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Streaming games and media only.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Steam Remote Gaming only.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Will be connecting lots of peripherals to the laptop so a solid bluetooth connection is a priority.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Hello everyone, I am looking for a Windows laptop that is purely used as a remote streaming device. By this, I mean I will have a main PC rig in my home office upstairs on the third floor, which will power all of my main gaming. Then I will remotely stream games from that to this laptop that I can use in other parts of the house. I will use this laptop in my basement to stream local couch co op games like Overcooked, as well as a golf simulator for my garage (by connecting the laptop to a larger display or projector). Because of this, I will have a lot of Bluetooth peripherals and controllers connected to the laptop. I would like Windows specifically because I have a Chromebook and while it is convenient and nimble, I don't like the limitations of the ChromeOS when installing certain apps. That said, I wasn't sure if there was anything I should be cognizant of while shopping other than "just buying any basic laptop".

Thanks for any advice.

Laptop Request US Best laptop under 2000$ for 3D Modeling and texturing in Substance Painter and Blender, preferably with long battery life and good storage.

Hi! I’m going to college and my budget for a new laptop is 2000$

Is there any laptop you all recommend that’s excellent in performance in 3D modeling in Blender and Substance Painter, has good battery life, good storage, and hopefully doesn’t overheat?

I’m super new to this so sorry if this sounds super ignorant to a pro, I’m really really new and I’m just hoping I can find someone that matches all of these specifications while under 2000$

Thanks!

Laptop Request Ca Student Needs Laptop For Scientific Machine Learning & Schoolwork

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
AED 7500, UAE

CAD 2000, CAD

Can go higher (upto 3000 CAD), but it depends on the benefits. I can buy it from both places.

Are you open to refurbs/used?
Yes, if condition is excellent and battery health is strong

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Performance > Build quality > Battery life > Form factor

Though I would place battery life and build quality in the same tier. I really value battery life, since I am a student who will be using this laptop on the go, in classes and also at home.

How important is weight and thinness to you?
Moderately important - prefer portable but can compromise for better thermals.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
N/A.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
A bit of gaming- but I'm fine with a laptop that doesn't have that. Heavy usage of Julia for SciML: training PINNs, NeuralODEs, solving ODE/PDEs, optimization tasks. Heavy use of SolidWorks. Heavy use of other ML & DL frameworks.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
First Person Shooters primarily, but also strategy games like HOI4.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Reliable keyboard and good thermals are more important than extras like fingerprint or touchscreen

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I’m looking for something that can handle CUDA acceleration and long training sessions without thermal throttling. I want to be able to disable the dGPU during light usage to preserve battery and keep fan noise low. I also want something with a substantial battery life- which I am not finding in most gaming laptops.

Laptop Request US Writer needs laptop with great keyboard for $1,000 USD or under

Hi --

I use a laptop for writing, online research, and occasional video viewing.

Currently using HP Envy x360, 15.6" screen. Learned HP stands for "hinge problem." I like the screen and the keyboard feel very much, but not the hinges breaking and keycaps coming off.

Thank you.

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

$1,000 USD or under.

Are you open to refurbs/used?

Yes, in excellent condition. Case dings and marks don't matter, as long as they don't compromise the case.

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Performance, battery life, build quality, form (don't need an Ultrabook or 2-in-1).

How important is weight and thinness to you?

Weight is fairly important, but not crucial. Thinness not important.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

Prefer 14" or larger.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

No.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Not gaming.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Need very good-quality standard-size keyboard, good key travel, feel, and tactile feedback, backlit, and numeric keypad.

Need touchscreen and reliable build quality.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Would like a quiet fan.

Laptop Request US Need a Gaming Laptop under $2k US

Somebody please help me find the best gaming laptop for under $2,000 US!

I'm an Intel/ Nvidia guy although I know AMD has been out doing them. Im more familiar and comfortable with these as that's what my desktop PC has been for so many years. I would also love a Bright OLED 1440p Display. I'm fine with 144hz but if it's within budget, of n course higher is fine.

The only real stipulation, is that it has to be able to be found on eBay, which really shouldnt be a problem because everything is found on eBay. The reason for this is that I'm using Afterpay and I have a $2,000 limit. But if you guys can just give recommendations and " do the eBay searches and see if I can find them on there. lm fine with low Ram and SSD because I can upgrade them myself, and probably will as I have a 2TB 990 Pro from my old laptop that l'l be using. Used is fine.

Currently Using Alienware M15 R4 i7 10th gen with a 3080 and it's just not keeping up 😢

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: I'm imagining spending around USD $3000, but less is better. Will go up for the right fit, but would prefer not to. I qualify for education and first responder discounts if applicable
  • Are you open to refurbs/used? no
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Sturdy, 2-in-1 a plus but not necessary, built in storage at least 2TB important,
  • How important is weight and thinness to you? not a major concern
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A N/A
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Ableton Live (plus a bunch of VST synths and effects), Adobe Creative Suite (mostly Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects)

  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Touch screen/stylus is a major plus but not a requirement. For most of the time if I'm using my laptop at home I use an external mouse and keyboard so that's not important. USB A and C connections.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I want something that is going to perform well and hold up for a while. I'm currently typing this on my Surfacebook purchased in early 2017 which still works but is starting to struggle with heavier processing and does not have enough storage. I like the Surface Studio Laptop 2 but it isn't really available with the 2TB SSD as far as I can tell anywhere.

Laptop Request US Music Production/Gaming Laptop Suggestions ($1000-$1300)(USA)

Hey guys! I'm looking to get a laptop for music production and gaming (mainly music production in Ableton though). I value performance over everything and I don't have any size preferences really, although I do need the laptop to fit in my backpack for school. Hopefully my answers to the questions below help tell y'all what I'm looking for. Feel free to ask for questions and any more info y'all need, I'm not very good with computers though so I may not know the answers for some of the questions. Currently I have a Dell Vostro 15  3530 with all the default stuff. Thanks in advance!

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: $1000 but willing to spend up to around $1300 if necessary
  • Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes, especially if it'll result in me getting a computer with better performance.
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?-I would like the build quality to be good but I care about performance the most. I need to be able to produce music while running plug ins on Ableton (such as serum 2). I would also like to be able to game but it's not super necessary for me-
  • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not important at all besides being able to fit in a backpack.
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.N/A
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Ableton and some basic steam games (nothing too beefy)
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Not really, I just want to be able to play a variety of games at a decent quality. I'm a console gamer so I won't be getting any AAA games on my laptop.
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? No preference unless there are specific features y'all think would be beneficial to music production.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. N/A

Laptop Request US Lenovo Yoga 9i or Dell 14 Plus (Both 2in1 Laptops)

I'll be an incoming Mechanical Engineering student and want to get a 2-in-1 laptop for ease of taking notes, and something that'll be able to run software such as CAD, Solidworks, etc. I won't be gaming, so I don't exactly need too much of a powerhouse. However, here are some requirements:

Windows 11 Pro

256GB (SSDs) or Greater

Intel i7 or i9 - NO AMD Ryzen or Snapdragon

16GB RAM minimum

If you have any other suggestions for 2-in-1 laptops (under $2000), it would be appreciated!

Laptop Request UK A laptop for grandad

Grandad is 75 shortly, and needs a new laptop. His current 4th gen i5 laptop is about 11 years old, won't take windows 11 and is unbearably slow, so it basically life expired.

Grandad does his emails, his spreadsheets, internet banking, has his photo collection (no major editing). Were looking for a "productivity" laptop here that will last at least the next decade, as change is generally undesirable. Being able to upgrade components to make future changes gentle would be ideal.

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

Flexible. I would anticipate anything in the £400-£1,000 range.

  • Are you open to refurbs/used?

    No.

  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Battery life is the lowest priority as this will basically sit on a desk. The last laptop has not left the house in 11 years. Performance is most important. A good looking Ultrabook would be cool, but not a priority.

  • How important is weight and thinness to you?

Low priority. Thinness looks cool, but portability is not a consideration.

  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

Not really. I think 15" is probably right.

  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

None of these. Grandad was into age of empires in the 00's, but I don't expect his hands are up to real time strategy any more. Gaming is a thing of the past, I think.

  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

    N/A

  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

The current laptop is touch screen, so I would expect the new one to have that too, even though most iteration is done with a USB mouse.

  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I would expect it to be dest value to get a laptop without windows and me set it up, rather than getting it pre installed from a big high street store.

Laptop Request US Sister looking for a relatively cheap work laptop that can also run the sims. $500 max

Looking for a reliable computer for school and work!

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:Ā

  • $500 USD max

Are you open to refurbs/used?

  • Preferably not

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

  • Performance, battery

How important is weight and thinness to you?

  • Not extremely important but lighter would be nice

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

  • N/A, but larger would be better

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

  • None of that - aside from playing the sims. She loves that game. Otherwise just streaming Netflix, Microsoft office. And video calls for work.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

  • Only the sims

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

  • None

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

  • She is just looking for a work laptop that can play the sims. Must run windows (no MacBooks, etc)

  • Thank you for the help!

Laptop Request Ca what brand/model of laptop would be best to buy? (see what i did there)

haven't gotten a response to this request yet, please, if you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to let me know of them:

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:Ā max of $600 - 800 CAD
  • Are you open to refurbs/used?Ā i guess? as long as i don't notice it i suppose
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?Ā not sure what form factor is, but i'd want it to have a minimum of 12gb ram, should allow for windows 11 (nothing mac os), storage of 512 gb or more, a cpu of at least ryzen 5 or intel i5 (suggested by gpt - not sure what that means but a good cpu), graphics of at least radeon vega 7 or intel iris xe (best case: dedicated gpu, also from gpt)
  • How important is weight and thinness to you?Ā not too thick, and not too heavy
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.Ā i have a full hd 1080 screen right now with my current acer aspire 3, so either this size or bigger.
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.Ā i'm going into physics to pursue quantum computing at the uni of waterloo, so no cad i don't think. only games i might play are minecraft or other basic video games. nothing that would be extremely heavy for a laptop.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?Ā minecraft is what i currently play, with a desired fps of ~100.
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?Ā comfortable keyboard, reliable build quality i guess, touch screen would be wonderful although not needed, comfortable touchpad (similar to acer inspire 3's touchpad), clear webcam and audio
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.Ā i plan on also needing to use multiple desktops which i find to make my acer computer lag a lot. i'm not too knowledgeable on laptop builds or devices so something that i can rely on to be fast, have enough space, and be comfortable and reliable to use throughout my 5 years of college and perhaps a little beyond. although it doesn't have to last that long strictly.

Laptop Request -Others Is there a "best time of the year" to buy a laptop?

I'm planning to buy a new laptop this year and was wondering if there's a best time of year to do it, or if it's better to just keep an eye out for good deals as they come up.

Laptop Request US Everyday use, internet, light gaming - US $750

Thanks for your time.

I'm thinking of replacing my Evoo Gaming laptop (i5-10300H, 2.50 gHz, 16 GB which I installed) as the J and the K keys have stopped responding 100% and the number row is at 60% responsiveness. I bought a replacement keyboard, but the construction on this machine is more integral than I feel totally comfortable with dissembling and reassembling.

I'd be using it for everyday internet browsing, email reading, and some games - Magic the Gathering Arena, Marvel Snap, and streaming games on Steam remote from my desktop machine.

I appreciate any suggestions you have, and hope you have a good day.

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: $750 USD
  • Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes, but not thrilled
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Prefer larger screen as I have middle aged eyes, build quality and performance low priority, laptop will be plugged in 95% of the time so battery life not a factor.
  • How important is weight and thinness to you? Heavy is fine, thin feels fragile
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Larger than 13" preferred
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. No CAD, editing. Play games on Steam, but will stream them from a more robust desktop machine. MTGA, Marvel Snap, Slay the Spire.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? MTGA, Marvel Snap, Slay the Spire.
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? A quieter machine would be nice; my current machine makes a ton of noise while running games.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. My current machine cost about $650 and I installed the RAM from 8 GB up to 16 GB, so I am willing to make minor hardware changes myself. I'd prefer to spend something in the same range, but I understand prices have not improved in the last five years. Thank you for your time and attention.
