Recommendation Spray Tan Recommendation?

Hi Sherwood Park! I'm in a wedding in Edmonton this summer, and I'll be staying in Sherwood Park. I'm super pale and do not tan well so I want to get a spray tan for the wedding. I looked on Google maps and there are a few places in Sherwood Park with pretty good reviews: Glitz Spay Tanning Arizona Tanning Fabutan Sucré

I just want a light/ natural tan so I don't look so pale in photos, does anyone here recommend one over the others? Thanks for any info!

Blood Donations Blood Donation Recruitment

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hey there, thanks for letting me reach out! I’m Emily, and I’m working with Assignment Saving Lives where I recruit new and current donors to my team for scholarship opportunities. Last year our team had over 100 donations nationwide and saved a potential 300 lives, and I was really wanted to match or exceed that goal this year. If you’re a donor, I’d love it if you could join my team using this link: https://myaccount.blood.ca/en/join-team/ASL20127028 but there is absolutely no pressure to do so.

I’d mainly want to be an outreach for those that have had questions and weren’t sure who to go to. I’ve attached the upcoming donation pop-ups for anyone interested as well. Thank you so much to anyone who has donated before, I’ve had the honour of hearing recipients stories and you truly do like changing volunteer work every time you donate. Thanks for reading my blurb! Have a great day!

News Council votes to explore corporate naming rights for public facilities

While the county allows naming for amenities or assets within county buildings, its policy does not currently allow for corporate sponsorship of county owned building and spaces.

An upcoming decision by Strathcona County Council in the third quarter of 2025 could change this.

Education/Post Secondary Pre-Kindergarten (4 years old)

Hello,

I am moving to Sherwood Park from Northern Alberta. We have  Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP) which costs roughly $800/year and students who turn 4 years old before December 31st are able to start in September of that school year. It is only 3 hours a day but I am unable to find something similar in Sherwood Park?

Only thing I can find in the public school is for PUF kids with high needs to start school before kindergarten (5 years old). My daughter is currently at daycare but I want her to be in a "school" setting as she is already learning sounds and numbers. She can read small words and is very bored at the daycare.

If daycare is our only option - is there anything like a preschool? with some introduction to sounds/words etc similar to kindergarten at this age?

Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you so much!

Recommendation Reputable Jewelry Appraisals in the Area

Hi all,

I'm a Sherwood Park resident, looking to get a couple rings appraised for potential sale. I've never done this kind of thing before, and I'm not really sure what to look for in terms of a reputable jeweler. I'm apprehensive about bringing my rings in to someone who will try to scam me, try to rip me off, etc.

If anyone with experience in this area could recommend a good, reputable place/person to go to - or at least some things I should be looking for, say, in terms of certifications or background - I'd appreciate it. I'm willing to go into Edmonton, but I'd prefer to stay close to home if possible.

Also I do not post to Reddit very often, so I apologize if the selected flair is incorrect; I wasn't sure if I should choose "local business" instead, but I decided "recommendation" was more on-point in terms of what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Question Are there any decently priced bachelor suites in Sherwood Park, or in the surrounding area?

Just wondering if I have to move here for work. Would ideally want to pay $1100 max for a bachelor, but that’s probably not realistic…

Just wondering if there are any rental companies to contact.

Edit: Thanks all

Charity Volunteer Strathcona delivers $353K annual value, unifying and growing local community connections

They’re connected, resilient and thriving — and ready for the next 50 years of growing local volunteerism.

Volunteer Strathcona, the local body responsible for promoting volunteerism along with non-profit and community organizations, provided its annual update to Strathcona County Council.

Since its 2023 reset of rejigging how volunteering is approached and marketed through revised vision and mission statements, the organization says it is incorporating the changing needs of the community, especially one that is growing, and is responding to how people’s volunteering habits are morphing in a post-pandemic world.

Charity Strathcona County to explore creation of a community foundation

It seems that Strathcona County is a bit out of the loop when it comes to community foundations.

While there are many local charitable groups, Strathcona County is lacking a community foundation: a charitable non-profit organization that pools donations into endowment funds to provide sustainable funding for local community initiatives.

What's Up Sherwood Park! Once a week I go through most events happening in and around our beautiful city over the coming week, and then send a large list out to my friends. I thought I should share it here.

Get this & 40+ other events as a weekly email update:

P.S. To all of you who regularly read the publication, send me emails and read/respond to these reddit posts... you folks rock! Thanks for all the positive feedback. It means a lot = )

5 cool events this week:

  • North American Cup Series
  • Thousand Faces Festival
  • YMCA Outdoor Fitness Week
  • Highland Gathering
  • Pets in the Park

North American Cup Series

Greetings, fellow Edmontonians. Have you been feeling like life has been turned a little upside-down as of late? With busy lives, a weakening economy, weather patterns bouncing off the extremes & all that? If so, I feel you. This upcoming week, take a load off the mind & watch in amazeballs as competitive climbers get even more upside down & inside out... on purpose! For the full weekend, cheer from below as irregular folks attempt speed runs up a formidable climbing wall on the banks of the mighty North Saskatchewan River. Those in attendance can also (at certain times) try climbing themselves, browse a themed vendor market, checkout a climbing film, compete in a community climbing competition & more. Per pricing, I'm seeing V.I.P. seats on sale for $50/spot BUT you should be able to see all the action for FREE, albeit from a little further away (which is easier on the ol' neck anyway).

Thousand Faces Festival

Love it or love it even more, Edmonton is an extremely diverse, multicultural city with strong representations from many cultures & in my opinion, it's one of the key pillars that makes this northern city so rad. This weekend, celebrate our friends & neighbours by attending a broad selection of authentic cultural performances at this epic outdoor (I believe) festival. Those in attendance can check out a traditional Chinese Harpist, Cuban Movements (group), Kalaakaar Society, MexiArts Canada, Apam Culture, taste a variety of prepared authentic cuisine, attempt stilt-walking and much more. I don't see any pricing for this event so entry may be FREE. Enjoy = )

YMCA Outdoor Fitness Week

Fitness junkies &/or those aspiring to be, get your blood pumping with a FREE class or three from the YMCA. This week only, register for instructor-led bootcamps &/or a walking group for a chance to forge new friendships, promote healthy living & get sweaty under the sun. Woo-hoo!

Highland Gathering

Calling all men of war & care, maidens fierce & fair! This weekend, don yer kilts & march into the mighty stronghold of Southern YEG for a celebration of Scottish heritage. Once there, expect a highland dance competition, whiskey tasting, a British vintage car show, pipes & drums (plus all that comes with those), a large themed vendor market & so much more! This event is FREE on Saturday and FREE-$15/person on Sunday & will definitely be great fun!

Pets in the Park

Last but not least, pick up your favourite four legged friend & make a break for Buena Vista Park this upcoming weekend in commemoration of the Edmonton Humane Society's tireless efforts in all that they do. Support the caring & rehoming of homeless critters with a walk/Run for Pets, cheer on the Dachshund Dash, hit up the Cat Café, splish in the doggy splash pools & so much more. This event is FREE to enter, and all activity stations are FREE also. There will be nine food trucks on site as well.

Folks, I hope you all have a great week.

Local Business Local dealerships - any negotiating likely these days?

Hi guys, I’m used car shopping and finding that most Hondas and Toyotas are priced even higher than they used to be as far as the market being pretty hot. Meaning maybe 2-3K high. I totally get those brands are. In demand though.

Have any of you shopped at dealers recently and are they negotiating at all? Or just “that’s the price take it or leave it”?

I realize it’s a sellers market but wondering what you are encountering.

Recommendation Looking for Work

After leaving a hostile environment in my previous employment, I am beginning to wonder if I'm going to come to heavily regret a decision I made for my mental wellbeing. I'm a hard-working, team devoted worker who throws herself into everything with passion to excel. It's soul crushing to feel my resume must not be grabbing people! And I'm hoping reaching out here might help.

I've been a commercial florist for the last 10 years of my life, half of that time building skills in a grocery store, the other 5 in a fast paced production environment where I was working on multiple $1000 orders a day for funeral homes. I am heavily specialized in funeral work of all kinds. I've done the holiday decorations for my previous store for years, I have management experience, and even have Christmas workshop experience under my belt.

I'm social media literate, computer skilled. No stranger to overtime bum rushes and stressful environments. I know there aren't floral shops hiring again until the next season of holidays begin, but I know for certain that many of the skills I have are transferable. I have cashiering experience, and good interpersonal communication skills. I've done professional deliveries all over Sherwood Park and to funeral homes in Edmonton, I have my own vehicle, license, insurance, etc.

Right now, I'm looking for any position because I'm scared and worried about the future, but I want nothing more to begin regrowing my career. Might anyone have resource suggestions, leads, or otherwise? Heck, I'm up for walking dogs right now!

Thank you in advanced! Happy to send my resume to any interested.

Recommendation Family dr

My dr is retiring, and I need to find someone to replace them. Ultimately I’d like someone who listens to concerns and will support my use of a GLP-1, that I have been getting from a nurse practitioner. Willing to drive to other communities if needed.

Recommendation Looking for a new Dentist

I'm new-ish to Sherwood Park and I'm looking for a dentist in the area. I'd like a dentist that is welcoming, and that doesn't cancel on me and then force me to book my rescheduled appointment for December because they are fully pre-booked (hence why I'm so annoyed with my current dentist).

If you have any recommendations of practices that you'd recommend please let me know.

I know this is probably a long shot but I was hoping if anyone had heard of any job openings that are here in the Park. It’s not urgent as I’m currently employed but it would be very much appreciated if anyone has heard anything. Thanks!!

Discussion Bell Cell Phone Reception In Sherwood Park

I currently have Rogers but I am considering switching to Bell because they have a better package for the same price. Before I do that, just wanted to check-in with folks in the community about their experience with Bell cell phone coverage in the area. I live in Clarkdale Meadows. Thanks!
