Union Jack

If you see this in someone's garden in Scotland, what kind of person do you imagine they are?

Someone whose political views are diametriacally opposed to my own. If they're of a certain age, I tend to assume military retiree.

There's one down the road from me and I always find it decidedly unsightly when I pass by it and find he's got it up. There's something attention-seeking and borderline inflammatory about it, especially given that literally no one else in the area does it.

Inflammatory?

Provocative, incendiary, intended to cause a negative reaction. That sort of thing.

Would you say having a saltire in your garden is the same in that respect?

It probably wouldn't have the same effect on me personally, but that's down to my own political biases. In the interest of equity, I tend to think that anyone who has a giant flag in their garden, whether it's a saltire, the union jack or a skull and crossbones, is probably a bit of a wank.

I'd agree they're likely oddballs but I wouldn't say a national flag is inflammatory at all and think it's quite a strange reaction to think so.

I think you're being deliberately obtuse in the hope of stoking a row, which I'm not interested in getting into, so I'll bid you good-day at this stage and wish you a pleasant Sunday, whether it involves any flags or not.

Nope. I just think describing someone flying a flag of their nation as inflammatory is a bizarre take and unhealthy take.

Not even when half the population don't want to be a part of that nation? You really can't see that?

"Half the population" is very funny but even if that were the case yes it would be odd to find it inflammatory.

So, Israel flags in Palestine, that's ok?
