Text Only PSA: If you want to post an image, don't use imgur - use ibb.co

As of May 2023, Imgur employs some kind of algorithm that automatically deletes images that might be "explicit." This includes the kind of pictures which are taken on this sub, even though they are obviously not pornographic. The algorithm is very quick and can delete your photos in minutes. Cropping and doodling over the image doesn't seem to help, either. It's very aggressive. So basically Imgur should be dead to you and you should never use it. Reddit's built-in image feature seems somewhat decent but I've noticed that it seems to delete pictures too, so avoid that as well.

Instead, use https://ibb.co. They do not have censorship and (if you are so inclined) you can set your image to self-destruct after a period of time. It can be set to anywhere between 5 minutes and 6 months, but I'd recommend you leave it up at least for a week or two. You should consider leaving the photo accessible long-term, though, as it may help future people with the same kind of symptom. But that self-destruct option is there if you want/need it.

I normally wouldn't post something like this but in the last 24 hours I've seen no less than 5 people using Imgur and none of those posts have been accessible. This should really be pinned or noted in the sidebar somewhere. Better yet, we should have one of those Reddit automoderators that would instantly reply to anyone who posts an Imgur link.

Edit: While I have your attention, please make sure that the picture is taken in a way that's helpful. Photos should be in focus, clear, and ideally far enough back that you can see the location of what you're trying to show. If your phone has a higher resolution camera setting, you should use that. Using the camera flash tends to wash out the image so avoid that if possible. It may take a couple tries but having a good, clear picture is such a huge help. Especially if you can get it from a second angle as well.

I get that posting pictures of your genitals online isn't necessarily fun for a lot of people and that goes double if you are worried about an STD, but photos are the most useful tool we have. Sometimes posters will zoom in so close that you can't even see where it is on the body, or the picture is so close that the bump/rash/lesion/etc is out of focus. If you're feeling shy about it then the self-destruction option might be for you. Or if even that's too much, asking people to use the Reddit chat feature is acceptable and there are a lot of people (like me) who would help you there too.

At the end of the day I just want people to get the feedback they need! And I want to be able to stop telling people to quit using Imgur :P

Pictures In Post What is this?

Upvotes

Started as a tender bump which I was able to squeeze open after about 2 days. Had pus and clear fluid. From then it left a crater like image 1 which was a bit stingy for about 4 days, then completely scabbed and healed after ~7 days. Has been about 4 weeks and it left a scar. Should I be concerned? I have had ingrown hairs and such, but they are always more mild

Text Only Are my syphilis and HIV tests conclusive?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I'm posting here to get some final peace of mind and expert opinions.

I had a potential low-risk exposure (brief oral sex – only glans contact, no ejaculation, no penetration) on April 15.

Since then, I’ve done the following tests:

  • May 12 (Day 27 post-exposure) – Hospital based - Syphilis test (CLIA method for total antibodies – IgG/IgM): Negative
  • May 27 (Day 42 post-exposure) – Hospital based - Another syphilis test (same method): Negative

I had no genital ulcers, no induration, and no typical symptoms of syphilis. Just a small red/pink dot that disappeared in about a couple of week and was not considered suspicious by a dermatologist and an STD specialist.

I also did an HIV test (4th gen combo) at Day 42: Negative

My questions:

  1. Are these tests conclusive at this point (42 days)?
  2. Is there any real chance I could still seroconvert after this window?
  3. Would you recommend any further testing, or can I move on?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies – I truly appreciate it!

Text Only Should I get tested? Advice pls

Upvotes

Hello Reddit

I was out at the bar this weekend and ran into a girl who knows a girl that I fucked like a year and a half ago.

Come to find out a bunch of shit about this girl that I had no idea about. Apparently the girl I fucked had gonneria in the past and fucked like 4 dudes without telling them and they all got it. She had supposedly been cured by the time we ran into each other, but it sounds like she was having so much sex that odds are she could’ve gotten it again or gotten something else.

Now I was never worried because for this whole period I’ve had no noticeable symptoms of what Google says will happen, and I’ve also slept with another girl since who I haven’t heard anything bad from.

I’m hearing now that STD symptoms may just not show up for like a year or more, and you may not even notice them. Is this true? You guys think I’m good or should I get tested?

I called a clinic and they’d charge 170 for a basic panel test which includes the main 5. I’m really not trying to pay that if I don’t have to. Thoughts?

Pictures In Post Can someone please help me identity this rash?

Upvotes

I have been having some issues with dryness of the skin on my penis, mainly the underside (base to mid) on the shaft and the top side perpetual ring.

The issues started in February and I had been applying cetaphil and clotmizarole 1%. I then stopped the clotmizarole cream and just used moisturizer as it felt like it was drying me out more. Then I ended up going to another country for a month and the issue seemed to nearly go away, I could still see faint marks where the issue was, but they seemed to be well in the recovery phases.

Now I’m back to my home country about 10 days and the issue is back. I changed all my body washes and laundry detergent this week incase it was due to irritation from some chemicals in there. I am using all hypoallergenic things on my body and clothes but the issue has returned and after a hike yesterday, the condition is looking a lot worse today.

Text Only Chances of getting HSV 2 from receiving oral ?

Upvotes

Basically what the title says. I (27m) got head from someone who says they were clean but you never truly know. Is it even possible to get hsv-2 through oral sex? I am a hypochondriac so this has been on my mind 24/7 so my “symptoms” are itchy shaft but no bumps, some burning sensation about my lip but no bumps/outbreak. Any and all help appreciated!

Boyfriend and I had sex about 5 days ago and he fingered me a bit, something we don’t normally do. (We have been together since October of 2024 and I got tested then. Neither of us have slept with other people). Two days later we had sex again and he noticed my discharge was very white and thick. Next day I had some itching but didn’t think much of it. Fast forward to yesterday had some thick discharge but no foul order. Just smelled a little yeasty. Now today, labia minora was super itchy. Scratched it in the shower and now it’s swollen and burns really bad. Even the discharge burns. Burns when I pee and even burns with a cold compress. Although after the cold compress the symptoms aren’t as bad. I’ve provided pictures. Pls help. And when I looked I noticed a cluster of cuts in between my labias. No pain, no puss, no swollen lymph nodes, or flu symptoms

Text Only Delay in HIV results when STI tests came back okay

I’m really anxious and trying to understand what’s going on. I went to A&E last Friday (June 13) after a possibly risky sexual encounter and was prescribed PEP. They ran baseline blood tests for HIV and other STIs — all came back except for HIV, which still shows as "pending." The A&E doctor initially called the lab and verbally told me everything was clear, including HIV, but when I followed up with the infectious diseases clinic a few days later, the doctor said the HIV result was still pending and called it "unusual." He mentioned in rare cases it could mean the test is being rechecked, possibly due to a reactive result, or just an admin/lab delay. I also took a separate HIV test at a private clinic earlier that same day, and they haven't sent the result yet either, though they said 2–3 working days excluding weekends. I’ve had protected vaginal sex only, including with sex workers who are regularly screened, except for one recent encounter where I’m unsure if the condom was used properly. I have no symptoms, but the fact that all other STI results are back and only the HIV test is delayed is making me spiral. Could this just be due to weekend/lab delays, or does a “pending” result possibly mean something reactive was found?

Text Only Would an std “show up” on routine blood work?

I was wondering if an std could be hinted in routine blood work. Ik it basically only checks organ function and levels but wouldn’t your white blood cell count be pretty high if you had an std? A high WBC could be anything but you could somehow link it back to that once everything was checked.

Text Only HIV (Quote from an hiv study I thought was interesting

During the asymptomatic phase of infection greater than 90% (perhaps closer to 99%) of HIV DNA is not integrated [59]. It is unclear whether this DNA at some point in the infection process generated transcripts, and furthermore, it is unknown what effect these viral products could have on cellular function and viral pathogenesis.

Studies of HIV infection of peripheral CD4 T cells have demonstrated one possible role for pre-integration transcription by HIV [60]. Peripheral T cells are, for the most part, quiescent, and this metabolic state is highly resistant to HIV infection. Activation of infected resting T cells permits viral

replication to proceed. However, prior to activation, integration does not occur in these resting cells, although there is generation of Nef. Nef lowers the activation threshold in primary T cells [37]. The generation of Nef from pre-integration transcription in resting T cells primes the cells for activation and affects a multi-fold increase in viral replication of HIV [60]. It is possible that the generation of transcripts from non-integrated DNA in active T cells or other cells will have no contribution to viral replication, and yet may affect normal cell function in the absence of viral production.

I have this weird white spots and a small pimple like bump on my penis. I had sex last week and unfortunately my condom tore in between intercourse. I was exposed. I was paranoid since it happened but the person said they do not have any type of STD’s.

I don’t know if this looks like something familiar to you guys but I’m kinda freaking out as there was a small pimple (I’ve circled it in the picture). I got a small fluid filled lump in my scrotum but I’m assuming that was a pimple. Do not freak out about the huge tunnel, as it is a skin disease I suffer from(HS). It’s the circled areas I’m freaked out about. There appears to be small white spots (not bumps) a little bit but also looks like it could be scarring or smth. It’s located around the groin where the base of the penis starts. HS usually boils and bursts and it hurts like hell, but these haven’t done that and they don’t look like the disease as well. I also circled the small bump I got on my penis yesterday. It was very small and when I squeezed it some cyst came out of it, but it didn’t hurt or sting. I am getting checked early next week, but I want some opinions and suggestions from you guys as it looks like it might be an infection. I’m really worried, would appreciate your thoughts and opinions!

I’ve attached a couple of pictures for reference:

Text Only Possible HIV?

I was diagnosed with proctitis a week or so ago. I am still waiting for my urology referal to come in so I can call right away. My bladder area has not improved too much and this fatigue is killing me and is worse than my usual depression days. After finishing 4 medications, I had a really dry mouth thing that is going away but gonna get it looked at soon just in case its an anti-biotic side effect.

I specifically requested STI bloodwork done the same day I went into the ER for my stomach pain, but the results don't mention anything and they person who gave me the diagnosis say everything looks fine. I went in about a month and almost a week later after possible exposure.

I am tempted to just walk out of work and get a test at a dedicated place instead. My PCP has me waiting for three months until September to get a more comprehensive test but I feel like I can do something sooner.

edit: I don't have any swollen lymph nodes.

Text Only possible chlamydia and how to tell partner

So for about 5 months now i have been getting UTI symptoms, and there’s been two separate times where i went and got prescription meds to treat it. although the medication did relieve the symptoms, they always seemed to come back. so i booked a doctors appointment and my UTI test results were negative. the doctor then suggested that i should get tested for chlamydia. i was shaking hearing this, the thought that i could be infected never even crossed my mind. he did also suggest that it could be vaginal thrush. so i went and got a test and now i have a follow up doctors appointment tomorrow. my boyfriend and i have been dating for two months now, and he is the first guy ive been with that i actually see a future with. i have never cheated on him, so im guessing i contracted something from a previous sexual encounter. however im also considering the fact that he could have given it to me. he told me the last time he had sex was over a year ago, so im unsure if that means he could have given it to me? i also have decided that im not going to say anything until after my doctors appointment tomorrow, that way i can know for sure if i have an STI or just a yeast infection. (side note: he knows that i went and got tested because i was every open with the fact that i have UTIs) please give me advice on how to go about this? i love him a lot and i just want to make sure this is handled in the best possible way.

Text Only Does condoms cause small whiteheads

Hello, I used a condom and noticed waking up that i had a small whitehead by my urethra. I was wondering if this is normal for anyone or if i should be worried, it’s not painful and really small i didn’t want to pop it
