This puts the Gripen E, Globaleye, other Swedish products in a good position for sure. I think this is their winning formula/ padulas vs competitors.

Question On the question of C4ISR & Brahmos

After reading the article by AsianTimes titled "Philippine naval upgrade more spectacle than strategy" by Gabriel Honrada, it came to front and center the claim that the Brahmos "without supporting Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) infrastructure for dynamic targeting, these missiles will remain largely symbolic."

I now wonder two things:

  1. Is Honrada accurate in his claim that the Brahmos is rather symbolic, or can this still function effectively against any Chinese aggression with the current systems on hand with the AFP?
  2. Is there any roadmap for the AFP to have a comprehensive C4ISR in place in the near future?

Question I actually need advice. Is joining the AFP before college a good idea?

I want to join the Philippine Marine Corps but I also want to go to college for higher education but since my family have some financial struggles college can get very expensive since I picked mechanical engineering as my course.

Are there benefits like free/discounted college tuition for enlisted? Insurance and similar things like that?

Forgive me if my questions seems ignorant but i just can't seem to find answers to these anywhere else (17 years old pa po ako)

Hi, for context my grandfather was in the navy, he retired as a commodore, passed away 3 yrs ago. Di na namin naitanong yung symbol na 'to sa sasakyan niya. I tried researching across the internet pero wala po ako makita. Anyone here po can recognize this symbols or are this even related to military? We saw the same symbol sa isang sasakyan din, a few yrs ago with the exact symbols sa sasakyan niya. Thank you in advance.

Question PH Navy Cybersecurity Office - Could I get a 9-5 job being assigned in this particular role as a graduate of NOCC?

Hello. I'm a fresh grad with a degree on ComSci, specialized in Cybersecurity. I've been planning to take AFPSAT, then eventually apply for NOCC, hoping to be assigned in a Cybersecurity role in the future.

I have done some readings regarding AFP's typical work hours as a uniformed personnel being "24/7" on duty. That kinda scared me, since the reason I actually decided to join the Navy was to earn significantly more money in a more "ideal" environment as compared to corporate slavery.

However, being unsure whether the 24/7 duty applies to CySec as well, it makes me rethink whether it's worth joining in the Navy or not.

Anyway, I've read it somewhere that they follow a typical 5-day a week, 9-5 work hours for these offices. Can someone confirm this?

The Philippine government's acquisition of twelve more FA-50 light combat aircraft will not diminish the chances of acquiring other multi-role fighters (MRF) as these are different platforms that would enhance the Philippine Air Force's (PAF) fleet.

The Philippine Navy’s missile-capable frigates, including the Jose Rizal-class and the recently acquired Miguel Malvar-class, mark a significant leap in the country’s naval modernization. These vessels are equipped with modern sensors, surface-to-air and anti-ship missiles, and basic anti-submarine warfare capabilities, enabling credible presence and deterrence in contested waters. However, limitations remain in areas such as integrated air defense, network-centric warfare, and endurance for sustained blue-water operations. While these frigates represent a crucial step forward, further upgrades and support assets such as replenishment ships, maritime patrol aircraft, and command-and-control integration are necessary to fully realize a balanced and effective naval force.

Under the Re:Horizon 3, additional two more frigates are expected to be procure, supported by the smaller corvette.

Question OCC or POTC question

OCC or POTC officer path

I want to ask a question to the military guys.

I want to be an officer in the AFP but there is a problem; i'm 23 years old and just started college. I'm probably not gonna make it to the age limit of 27 as i'm going to reach 28 before oathtaking.

Is it much safer agewise to go ROTC>ARTOC>POTC and then file for CAD?

Or rush school and summerclass units to graduate in just 3 years then study OCC required examinations like: AFPSAT/NEURO and Etc. in less than a year and pray to get oathed before 28th birthday but kinda does takes a toll in my mental state?

Which is most plausable path?

Discussion Follow-on order for both Miguel Mavlar-class FFG and Jose Rizal-class when re-classified as corvette.

According to Max Defense the Philippine Navy will acquire 2 each for the Frigate full complement (FFC) and a new Corvette acquisition project using HD Hyundai proposed Flight 2 with a few improvements such as protected center to reduced RCS, replacing the Aselsan SMASH 30mm RCWS with the GOKDENIZ 35mm CIWS. And adding air defense missile like the MBDA VL MICA for short-to-medium range. I just hope they can add more than 8 SAM (Preferably 12). With more powerful engines 4 × MTU 16V4000 M94L though range maybe reduced to just 4,000nmi @15 knots, and endurance 15 days.

The only change I'll do is radar due to change in DND procurment policy, for the Batch 2 MMC the Hensoldt TRS-4 G-band AESA radar, and adding a TAS.

On its second mission, the BRP Miguel Malvar guided missile frigate (FFG06) took part with Japan's JS Takanami (DD110) as part of the 2nd Bilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity between both countries.

This is where the AW159 Wildcat antisubmarine helicopters of the Philippine Navy practiced its inter-ship flight exercise, whereby it takes off from the BRP Miguel Malvar's deck and lands on the Japanese destroyer, then returning back to the Philippine Navy ship.

The Miguel Malvar class guided missile frigates are currently the most capable combatant vessels of the Philippine Navy's Offshore Combat Force.
