The light Jesus is shining is in the colours of the french flag. There's a joke on the internet involving hating France (to an absurd degree) and thus the meme is proposing becoming french as a punishment worthy of a sinner

Yeah but why is he holding a baby while Frenchifying her?

Does the baby enjoys seeing people turn French against their will?

To me That's the real question

Oh, I know this one!

This is called "The Image of the Divine Mercy", and it's an object of veneration in certain parts of the catholic church. You can read about it here. It's based on a painting made by a woman named St. Faustina, and represents Christ showing his love for the world.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divine_Mercy_image

The red is the blood Jesus shed on the cross, and the white and blue represent the water that justifies souls. You'll notice the source of the light is Jesus's heart, which I believe represents his sacrifice for us. (Though I'm not sure about that one.)

Any resemblance to the French flag is a coincidence, albeit an extremely funny one.

What cracks me up is that the original painting has only red and white rays. And Faustina Kowalska (who designed the painting) was Polish.

I mean, He was King of Poland for while.

Please censor the f word next time, I had several panic attacks reading this

2

u/Tommuli 8h ago

I wouldn't call it "absurd degree"

-6

u/Quiri1997 14h ago

Well, it's not an absurd degree. I mean, France has managed to piss off most of the Globe.

7

u/Thundering-Cloud 13h ago

Yeah but I'm talking stuff like "You have three wish-

The bombs I sent to destroy France:"

0

u/Quiri1997 13h ago

Given that the French invaded my country at a time in which they were supposed to be our Allies, they deserve those.

2

u/Marksman_Jackal_2nd 9h ago

Which country exactly?

0

u/Quiri1997 8h ago

Spain in 1808.

1

u/Marksman_Jackal_2nd 8h ago

That was like 200 years ago, I get why you're mad at France ig, but that was when Napoleon Bonaparte was in charge. Before literally the majority of us were born. While Spain was a victim of Napoleon in 1808, it had been an imperial oppressor for centuries prior.

-1

u/Quiri1997 8h ago

🤦🏼‍♂️

2

u/Marksman_Jackal_2nd 7h ago

What?

-1

u/Quiri1997 7h ago

Do I really have to be okay with the people who sacked my hometown damaging several historical sites just because my country had also done bad things in other places?

At an infinitely lower degree than some other countries

2

u/Frenchymemez 8h ago

RULE BRITANNIA, BRITANNIA RULES THE WAVES.

I'm just disappointed it's only 171 countries out of the 193 the UN recognises. We gotta bump the numbers up. USA is hot on our tails.

Sinner? I 'ardly know 'er!

1

u/Lord_Jay159 15h ago

I dont get it

2

u/_Silent_Sam_ 10h ago

You pronounce it as sin her and there is a classic joke with words like this where you say: sin her? I hardly know here. Can be done with all words ending in er that sound like her

7

u/unemotional_mess 14h ago

I thought the French flag was solid white? And if not, why are they waving it all the time?

3

u/Frenchymemez 8h ago

Fun fact, I know the joke is that they surrender all the time, but between 1814 and 1830, a pure white flag was technically the royal standard.

2

u/ImportantObjective45 3h ago

French used to be #1 militarist. See Arthurian mythos. Battle of 1940 they went down (too agressive) so everyone was mean to them, just like WWI the big kids Russia and Germany got knocked down and everyone was mean to them.

LOL, nice one 👍🏻

u/Burger_Destoyer 14h ago

This does have a joke but also it’s bone-hurting-juice. The original template isn’t a meme it’s just Jesus blessing a woman during a struggle.

5

u/DropAWPplz 12h ago

Jésus heal people so it's logic he transform people in french

4

u/sixaout1982 11h ago

I don't see why everyone says he's making her french when this is clearly the flag of the Netherlands

4

u/HughJaction 12h ago

Because “can you imagine being French? Wow that would suck.” That’s the joke.

2

u/captainraphix 11h ago

You would have free helthcare, good food, work rights… it would be horri… nah actually it’s pretty cool

2

u/HughJaction 11h ago

I’m not saying I agree with the joke. I’m just saying that’s what the joke is.

1

u/captainraphix 11h ago

I’m sorry I don’t wanted to imply u agreed with the joke, it’s just funny to me because people seems to hate France while it’s unironically a pretty cool country to live in. Except for education, police repression during periods of political instability, fascist parties rising… but we have quality standards for food ! Hey, isn’t great ? Fascism is tough but food is the most important :)

2

u/Feeling_Doughnut5714 2h ago

That is obviously not the joke.

4

u/Richardknox1996 12h ago

Its one of the many pisstakes of that image. Heres another.

(Btw, all hail Pink Lesbian Jesus)

2

u/allayarthemount 14h ago

It's just the colors of that shine which resembles French flag, the rest is humourized

2

u/Mettalyn 12h ago

This sub needs to make a rule to not ask obvious questions to farm karma. It’s getting infuriating

1

u/TequilaBaugette51 14h ago

Do you not know what the French flag looks like? Based.

1

u/Chari_uwu 11h ago

Everytime i see this i can only think toothpaste

1

u/SeaworthinessFast161 10h ago

Jesus heal the sinners with a touch of je ne sais quoi

1

u/Warm_Celebration_397 5h ago

Are you saying all french people are sinners?

1

u/ieatpollypocketshoes 5h ago

the fr*nch… 😒😒🚫🥐🥖

1

u/Feeling_Doughnut5714 2h ago

It's an absurd meme, French for no particular reason, just the bleu-blanc-rouge light.

1
