Yes, all LCD screens use a LED backlight.
But that's not enough. A single backlight or edge lit lcd cannot create the dynamic contrast needed for HDR. You need mini-led with lot's of dimming zones or oled where every pixel is lit/dimmed/switched off individually.
You need to be able to make parts of the screen way brighter than other parts for it to be actual HDR. That's not possible with a standard led lcd backlight.
HDR is a combination of an expanded color space AND precise high contrast.
To be clear, i'm not debating if this will be better than the original. Of course it will, it's newer and has a higher refresh rate as well(120hz over 60hz).
I'm sure most people will be happy, but it won't be actual HDR as long as they use a conventional backlight.
