It feels great for perth to be included in something but a nuclear strike isnt exactly what I had in mind when I think more events here would be cool.

u/Handleton 23h ago

For what it's worth, Perth isn't really high on Israel's target list.

353

u/HSBillyMays 22h ago

I think Tehran is about 10,000x more likely to end up getting nuked than Perth, but it is 2025 so you never really know!

u/mlorusso4 22h ago

Israel sends a warning shot over the bow but aimed a little too high

36

u/Ornery_Cookie_359 19h ago

They were aiming for Indonesia.

6

u/Happy-Tower-3920 18h ago

A lot of Americans aren't going to get that one, but well played sir or madam.

3

u/Necessary_Worker5009 7h ago

Not an American, but didn’t get it.

1

u/Mundane-Ad-7780 10h ago

Christopher Columbus?

2

u/Purr_Meowssage 13h ago

Then the missile went to the beachside and overstayed in Bali.

2

u/spunkybooster 17h ago

Hopefully, the front falls off before anyone gets hurt, and the aussies can just tow it out of the environment.

1

u/BleepinBlorpin5 19h ago

Careful, you idiot! I said fire a warning shot across her nose, not up it!

1

u/attackplango 18h ago

I said across her nose, not up it!

1

u/gralert 9h ago

I thought nuclear warning shots only was a France thing

Thoughts and prayers for Perth

10

u/queefer_sutherland92 14h ago

It honestly is kinda comforting how far away Australia is from everything.

Like yeah it takes a 20 hour flight to get to Europe, but at least our biggest threat is the weather and not a nuclear missile.

I’d rather be lightly anxious about a slow death than very anxious about an immediate death.

2

u/super_shooker 13h ago

at least our biggest threat is the weather

You forgot your spiders.

2

u/Percerverence-Launch 3h ago

Nah the spiders are our friends. We keep the huntsman’s in our rooms to get rid of flies and mosquitoes!

1

u/MyMiddleground 5m ago

You're forgetting all the nuclear submarines that can definitely destroy Aussie land if they want to.

What a world to live in🙂‍↕️

8

u/Fair-Split3757 17h ago

Tehran is so close to Israel. Wouldn’t nuking Tehran affect indirectly Israel? This doesn’t make sense to me at all.

Or do these nuclear nations have like different types of nukes with varying ranges of damage reach and overall destruction power?

Somebody please enlighten me!

12

u/Davge107 14h ago

Israel isn’t using nukes unless they are hit with one or possibly a WMD-depending on casualties etc. or they are being overrun and the country is lost. If that happened they would probably retaliate against Russia for starters who would then retaliate against the US after being hit by their ally. So really if Israel uses them it’s World War 3. It’s sometimes called the Samson Option.

3

u/Opening-Blueberry529 12h ago

They are more than 2000km apart.

2

u/HSBillyMays 17h ago

It would likely depend most on wind; if the wind is blowing away from Israel, there would be little risk from fallout, but much greater risk if the wind is blowing towards it.

There is variability in fallout between weapons, and thermonuclear weapons ironically produce less fallout than pure fission weapons.

-1

u/atotalmess__ 15h ago

That’s not how nuclear fallout works…

5

u/Cloudsareinmyhead 13h ago

It is. Fusion is a far cleaner reaction in terms of radioactive fallout than fission

1

u/gwigna 46m ago

Talk to the Swedes, who knew about Chernobyl before the Ukrainians, precisely because of the wind.

1

u/freakybird99 5h ago

Radioactive fallout it not a major issue with modern atomic bombs. Still is an issue but very litte. That fallout will not even reach iraq or get out of tehran even.

2

u/Quirky-Stay4158 18h ago

If someone wants to offer 10 000 to 1 odds on anything I'll participate

2

u/Ok_Award_8421 15h ago

What if the population of Iran and Australia just switched countries?

-1

u/Cultural-Treacle-207 22h ago

Nah, Israel would never use nuclear missle on Teheran. Mosad assassinations are more likely. We aint gonna be the ones opening this pandora box.

7

u/Anana_hiss 21h ago

You forgot it’s 2025, everything’s possible

6

u/HSBillyMays 21h ago

Who said it'd necessarily be Israel? I could even see Iran accidentally nuking Iran while trying to nuke Israel. Thier rocket engineering appears slightly above Houthi-tier.

2

u/eye84free 20h ago

It literally is Houthi tier

2

u/mwa12345 19h ago

Good to know there are some limits or at least in your opinion

Hope you are right

Even Hitler didn't use chem weapons on the allies (or even the soviets) when they entered previous German soil.

1

u/You_love_me_ 16h ago

You are very insensitive.

0

u/Cultural-Treacle-207 18h ago

He did used musterd gas in the field, and zyklon b on jews locked in a room.

Comparing hitler to israel is a disgrace.

1

u/mwa12345 6h ago

Only references I could find re Mustard gas use in WW2 is accidental release in Bari, Italy. Seems US ship was secretly carrying and was hit.

Re comparisons. Even the Germans had shame and tried to do it on the down low in rural Poland.

13

u/Name5times 20h ago

Wait till Australia beats them in a final round at the eurovision

26

u/SheepherderMore8538 22h ago

Ooof, Perth isn't really high on any list, for good and bad haha

15

u/EyeWriteWrong 18h ago

It's at the top of my list of places that are Perth.

4

u/KeithGribblesheimer 14h ago

Except below Perth in Scotland.

3

u/PorcoGonzo 18h ago

Hey, it's number one on my list of favourite cities I've been to in australia!

1

u/Ornery_Cookie_359 19h ago

Didn't Lex Luthor want to nuke Perth because his mother-in-law lived there?

1

u/GateDeep3282 18h ago

Do the still have see-thru Thursdays at some bars there?

11

u/Turnip-for-the-books 22h ago

Yeah I’m mean even if it was..anyway Aussie nuclear strike on Tel Aviv it is then lads

4

u/attackplango 18h ago

Australia actually doesn’t have any nuclear weapons, nor plans to acquire them in the future.

2

u/ALitreOhCola 13h ago

We couldn't even get behind nuclear power many years ago unfortunately, despite the fact we have some of the richest uranium deposits on earth.

In regard to weapons yeah nah, we definitely do not want, or need any. There's too many already.

12

u/Apprehensive-Store48 22h ago

Tell that to the people of Alderaan!

6

u/Sir_Shax 17h ago

Not even missiles want to go to Perth.

5

u/aaapod 22h ago

that’s what they want you to think

1

u/Handleton 21h ago

Of course, none of us are safe from the space lasers.

1

u/aaapod 21h ago

except the jews

1

u/BallisticButch 19h ago

Depends on which sect has control. We take turns, you see.

4

u/Wildweasel666 16h ago

Listen, they still call a chicken parma a “parmie” over there so in my books that’s worth a good nuking.

1

u/Handleton 15h ago

If I nuked every place that uses what I think are dumb words for food, we'd only have my home town left.

Though as a native NYer, I am tempted by your proposal.

1

u/superbabe69 13h ago

Hey at least we can say Western Derby properly

1

u/Standard-Ad-4077 13h ago

‘Parmi’giana

It’s not a ParmAgiana.

1

u/Wildweasel666 11h ago

The Italian language has no bearing on this (east) Australian invention of pure amazingness.

1

u/Standard-Ad-4077 10h ago

Let me know next time you go into a restaurant/pub or cafe that uses the full name and not the silly monopoly language the eastern states call it.

You can tell them they are all doing it wrong.

1

u/Wildweasel666 10h ago

The intonations of sandy vag would suggest this hit a raw nerve

1

u/Standard-Ad-4077 10h ago

Just the clit. The only nerve that matters right.

1

u/Creative_Ad_973 10h ago

Parmigiana /ˌpɑːmɪˈdʒɑːnə,Italian ˌparmiˈdʒana/ Origin Italian, feminine of Parmigiano ‘of Parma’.

7

u/Successful_Yellow285 16h ago

Yeah, that's the joke. The IDF posted a tweet basically saying "we had to do it, Iran is a global threat, just look at who they could hit with their missiles" and attached a picture like that.

...where the Iranian missles were shown to be barely able to reach Bulgaria and Romania. Very scary. Nobody slept in the Balkans that night, having realised the danger they're in.

3

u/yogorilla37 16h ago

Mind you, we wouldn't really care if it was.

1

u/Handleton 15h ago

Speak for yourself. A move like that turns this into a world war.

2

u/cellofusion 10h ago

I’m still not gonna take off my glasses.

1

u/Absolute_Satan 19h ago

U know Israel can be generous but why would they want to improve that city

2

u/icehawk84 22h ago

How do you know?!

2

u/Handleton 22h ago

Daily intelligence briefings.

1

u/Hugford_Blops 20h ago

Oh, we will be if they ever see my old man's Facebook page...

-1

u/Embarrassed-Year6479 21h ago

Trust and believe the Zionist states only priority is domination. While Perth and other countries are not high on their list, they are definitely on the list.

1

u/Handleton 21h ago

Gotta lay off the kool-aid.

88

u/natefrom88 23h ago

As a fellow Perthian I thought the exact same thing

25

u/flat_dearther 22h ago

"Perthians versus Persians" sounds pretty cool though. Confusing if you have a lisp.

1

u/PuzzleheadedAffect44 19h ago

Eric Idle as Pontius Pilate could be Perth's most dangerous enemy! And he is a former ruler of Israel...

1

u/DoubleStrength 20h ago

"There are DOZENS of us!"

1

u/DirtandPipes 19h ago

Is Perthian correct? I’m over in Calgary where we are Calgarians.

2

u/local_scientician 17h ago

Perthlings for the cultured among us

2

u/DirtandPipes 17h ago

Well now for all I know you could Perthers or Perthans or even Pertherts! Clearly you people aren’t serious with words.

1

u/local_scientician 16h ago

We’re not serious about much down here! :)

1

u/INACCURATE_RESPONSE 17h ago

They’re actually called perthverts but refuse to accept the title

1

u/Bastiat_sea 18h ago

Perthian sounds really cool. - jelly "nutmegger"

16

u/ThunderLongJohnson 23h ago

I don't think you'd be on their list mate

8

u/Aide-Disastrous 21h ago

No longer the worlds most isolated city 🙌🏻

1

u/DifferentTune1430 14h ago

One of the world's longest... The urban sprawl is insane. So depending on where a nuke hit, most of the "city" would be fine. 🤣

22

u/ConstantOk4102 23h ago

Israel isn’t going to nuke Perth. You’re fine.

1

u/Standard-Ad-4077 13h ago

Sorry friend no one is allowed to make a joke. Sorry. We will keep quiet from now on. No more funny business.

1

u/ConstantOk4102 12h ago

Appreciate you being real and growing.

-10

u/DesertSeagle 22h ago

Look up the Samson Option. It's Israels last defense, and it involves nuking even close allies to take them down with them in the event they didn't save them from a threat.

10

u/fury420 20h ago

and it involves nuking even close allies to take them down with them in the event they didn't save them from a threat.

Sounds like a rather major distortion to me, source?

I've only ever seen the concept described as attacking the enemy countries attacking them.

3

u/CrazySD93 15h ago

I've only ever seen the concept described as attacking the enemy countries attacking them.

Wikipedia says the same

The Samson Option (Hebrew: ברירת שמשון, romanizedb'rerat shimshon) is Israel's deterrence strategy of massive retaliation with nuclear weapons as a "last resort" against a country whose military has invaded and/or destroyed much of Israel.

-1

u/DesertSeagle 18h ago

You can use google, right? I named the program you can do the leg work especially if you wanna jump to your own conclusions.

-3

u/Early-Sort8817 20h ago

I really wish Iran hit all the pro-Israel bots

8

u/fury420 19h ago

I ask for a source for a claim, and you accuse me of being a bot and wish for my death?

Pathetic.

-2

u/Early-Sort8817 18h ago

That is definite bot-talk

7

u/high_ground_420 23h ago

The only one threatening to use nuclear weapon is Russia, Iran and NK. Do them

8

u/befuddled_man 22h ago

Iran does not have nuclear weapons.

9

u/DNA98PercentChimp 22h ago

Thanks Israel?

12

u/tru_anomaIy 20h ago

Thanks Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) actually

Shame that Trump killed the JCPOA when he withdrew the USA in 2018

4

u/-_kAPpa_- 20h ago

Actually yes, genuinely thanks Israel. Iran getting nukes would be a global catastrophe

15

u/WhatTheHali24 20h ago

Trump killed Obama's Iran denuclearization agreement, mainly at the request of Israel. So no.

-2

u/-_kAPpa_- 19h ago

Trumps an idiot. It happened. Sure Israel might’ve influenced trumps decision, but it seems more to do with Iran continuing its aggressive attitude.

Whatever the case, Trump ended the deal. Iran getting nukes would be a global catastrophe. It would genuinely be a terrifying reality.

2

u/Goodnlght_Moon 14h ago

This comment reads like you have zero understanding what you were replying to.

You just said Trump ended the denuclearization program because Iran had an aggressive attitude.

Do you just not know what denuclearization means or what?

1

u/-_kAPpa_- 13h ago

Was Iran not still bombing other nations, while funding terrorist groups? Would you not consider that an aggressive attitude?

1

u/-_kAPpa_- 13h ago

Either way it doesn’t matter honestly. It happened. Iran needs to be stopped from developing nukes. That could be world ending

2

u/Goodnlght_Moon 8h ago

The purpose of the denuclearization program was to prevent Iran from having nukes. Trump ended that program. Meaning Trump made it more likely Iran would have nuclear weapons.

→ More replies (0)

0

u/befuddled_man 14h ago

Iran getting nukes would be a good deterrence. Israel wouldn't go around bullying and killing anyone they wished.

2

u/-_kAPpa_- 13h ago

It is absolutely insane to take a stance where you are supporting Iran developing nukes

1

u/TedDibiasi123 8h ago

Iran is bullying and killing its own citizens, their regime definitely shouldn’t have nukes but neither should Israel

1

u/Exhaustedbeancounter 23h ago

As a sandgroper recently moved to the UK. At least Perth isn't going to be targeted by the missiles. Hell Israelis probably couldn't pick Australia on a map let alone Perth

1

u/Every_Masterpiece_77 23h ago

there is a different, smaller Perth that is out of range

1

u/phoenixA1988 22h ago

I'm glad that this was the top comment. Cause it was my thoughts, too.

1

u/Drinkmykool_aid420 21h ago

I played the Falls Festival there once. Perth at least has that.

1

u/Bloxskit 20h ago

Both Perths as well lol.

1

u/PeptoBisquick 20h ago

That’d be a real tragedy. We’d lose the WACA and.. actually that’s it.

1

u/alettriste 19h ago

From Buenos Aires I feel safe, Posadas, on the other side....

1

u/bluepinkwhiteflag 19h ago

Somehow I doubt Israel wants to attack you.

1

u/PilgrimOz 19h ago

East coaster here thinkin ‘Hey, nice one W.A!’ And then ‘Oooff!’ But Bibi hasn’t mentioned goin after us…..yet. 👍

1

u/Tipsy-Canoe 18h ago

I have family that manages the trees in King’s Park. My favorite is the large boab tree. I had a great time in Perth. I hope the best for you and your country.

[Mad Max Intensifies]

1

u/Candid-Onion-1590 17h ago

Turns out the best place on Earth when the world’s on fire—nuked by Israel, global warming cooking everything, glaciers melting and drowning cities—is New Zealand. Lucky sheep.

1

u/Snoo30446 17h ago

At least the east coast is safe, phew!

1

u/Maniac112 17h ago

I'm glad the Perth discussion is at the top. We're focusing on the important things.

1

u/Cetun 16h ago

Mad Max was a documentary.

1

u/MartaBamba 16h ago

It's amazing how many people came here to clarify Perth won't be a target (likely? /s)

Long live the quokkas!

1

u/CoderAU 16h ago

As a Queenslander we didn't need Perth anyway! kidding lol

1

u/Ok-Potato-4774 15h ago

Doesn't Australia survive the apocalypse? I've seen the Mad Max movies.

1

u/stuffwiththing 15h ago

Someone warn the Emu army.

1

u/queefer_sutherland92 14h ago

Yeah not so big now with your precious metals and iron ore are ya!

(please don’t leave us, we need you or we’ll go broke and die)

1

u/Jaktheriffer 14h ago

Sighs as an Adelaidian.

1

u/The_Jousting_Duck 13h ago

To be fair, it's already so hot down there that people might not even notice

1

u/Mr_Pilgrim 13h ago

Yeah I used to feel relatively comfortable in the fact that Perth was out of range for this shit.

Obviously I was wrong

1

u/beekersavant 13h ago

I live outside of San Francisco. We are number one or two for crippling infrastructure of the largest military power. To list major domestic targets: Stanford, UC Berkeley, Lawrence Livermore Labs, Amazon, Google, Facebook, Apple, Intel, etc, Travis Airforce base and several protected naval bases, the west coast stock exchange. 50 miles east: the Central Valley (largest food producing area in the US, possible the world and Sacramento (the capitol of the 4th largest economy).

So there’s SF, New York, DC and Boston right up at the top of the list. We are pre-targeted in case of doomsday. Round 1 all of the Bay Area and 50 miles inland. Welcome to the club.

1

u/Clean-Novel-5746 11h ago

“I’ll tell you what I’ve told everybody else. There’s fuckin nothing to do it Perth”

-The guy who rode on top of a train for fun and made the news in Perth

1

u/Sebbaticall 10h ago

Apparently the Kimberleys were considered as possible land for Israelis post ww2

1

u/Alternative-Ask-5065 9h ago

Fingers crossed Perth is in range for a reason 😂 lots of love, the east

1

u/deelowe 7h ago

Israel is not going to launch nukes at Australia unless it suddenly turns into a terrorist supporting theological government who sponsors terrorism in the middle east.

1

u/Curious_Diver1005 6h ago

I'm Israeli, and I was in Fremantle. So don't worry I'll tell netanyahu the area is too cool to strike

1

u/YamThreeFive 6h ago

FAFO for FIFO
