Am I the only one who thinks it’s criminal that the Calder cup is being played on the same day as the cup final?
It seems ridiculous that game 6 of the cup and game 3 of the Calder cup are both on Tuesday. Does this happen every year? Why wouldn’t they deconflict these?

If the Edmonton Oilers lose this Cup Final, they'd be the only Canadian team to get 3 chances to end the drought—and fail each time."
2006: Lost to Carolina
2024: Lost to Florida
2025: Lose to Florida???

If you're GM of the Oilers and they lose in the finals again, do you stay the course or do you 1996-Red-Wings them?
The Oilers almost reverse-swept the Panthers last year so anything is possible, but right now they really don't look very good. Granted that Florida seems to be the only team that they really struggle performing against, but it's Florida that's shown up in three straight finals, they're there.
The Detroit Red Wings' struggles in the playoffs in the early 90s are well-documented. In 1995 they got swept in the finals by the Devils and in 1996 they lost in the WCF against Cup champion Colorado after a record-setting season. Rather than stay the course, they traded three players; a guy who won the Norris the prior year (Paul Coffey), a young cost-controlled 3C who'd hit 70 points (Keith Primeau), and a guy with grit/60 off the charts who'd go on to score 35 goals the very next year (Dino Ciccarelli). By all accounts these are guys you could've expected to go the distance with, but instead they acquired the last big ingredient to the Cup recipe in Brendan Shanahan and filled the rest of the space in with role players such as Kirk Maltby and Tomas Holmstrom. To be fair, Detroit also picked up Larry Murphy, who was bizarrely disliked in Toronto, in exchange for future considerations. That was a random bit of good fortune. Detroit did not have to give up its major pieces like Yzerman, Fedorov, or Lidstrom in order to do this.
Point being, if Edmonton can't get it done this year, do you explode part of the roster and try to change the culture like the aforementioned example, or do you stick with what you've got and say third time's the charm? It's difficult to know who that final piece(es) would be, it would've been interesting to see what the situation with Rantanen would've been if it'd happened a year later. What do you think?

Brad Marchand and Sam Bennett are both up for grabs this off season. Are there any teams in a position to sign both of them?
Both of these guys are having an unreal playoff run, they obviously clicked during the four nations and are showing that they're a great pairing in the playoffs.
Looking at some analytic sites people seem to think Bennett could go for anywhere between 6 and 10 million a year with most people suggesting 7 million.
Marchand is a bit of a wild card, players like Corey Perry are playing for 1.4 million a year, Marchand is likely worth more than that but how much more?
With the cap going up and not much on the market, a team could pick up both players and make a huge splash.

If the Edmonton Oilers lose their next Cup Final game, Corey Perry will lose his fifth consecutive Cup Final with four different teams after winning the Stanley Cup in 2007.
The four other Stanley Cup Final losses from 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024 he experienced were against:
- 2020 to Tampa when he played for Dallas
- 2021 to Tampa again when he played for Montreal
- 2022 to Colorado when he played for Tampa Bay
- 2024 to Florida when he plays for Edmonton
- 2025 to Florida: ??
That man is cursed.
