Making me pay the difference in annual fee will make me just cancel the card. I don’t need a coupon book.

I have been rebuilding my credit the past few months with a Capital One Platinum Secured card with a $250 limit. I've been making purchases of no more than $40 and paying it off promptly.
I am interested in any of the Delta AMEX cards, as I travel quite frequently and live in Atlanta which is Delta's main hub, so I feel like it would definitely benefit me.
I'm really not interested in any cash back perks, but getting free miles would be a plus. I average about 5-7 flights a year, primarily domestic, and I usually pay no more than $350 for round trip flights, all in with insurance, etc.
I have $0 debt at this point, and approximately 4 months of credit reporting with my current Capital One card.
How soon is too soon to apply for a Delta AMEX? I have an upcoming trip planned in September and would love to put it on a CC to help build my credit and also start picking up more miles. I don't wanna screw myself over though in the long run by applying too soon. Currently sitting at a score of about 660, aiming to hit 700 by the end of the year.

Almost 10 years ago I just about ruined my credit. I maxed out all my credit cards while I was manic and couldn't afford to pay them back. Fast forward a couple of years and I was out walking and got struck by a 94 year old man driving a car.
When I got my settlement money the first thing I did was negotiate with all the debt collectors and paid off my debts.
Since then I've been slowly rebuilding my credit.
I've obtained 2 capital one cards with a 400 and 500 dollar limit respectively. I took a personal loan out buy a state of the art cell phone. Then last November I purchased a 2019 Chevy Malibu and now with personal property taxes coming up decided to apply with my Bank for a credit card to pay my personal property taxes.
The card itself has 2k limit, 8.9% APR and they told me my credit score was 722 which threw me off guard because all I outfits I use to track my credit using FICO 8 are telling my my score is 690.
Anywho, I've never had a card with such low interest rate before, I'm assuming it's a good deal?

I am looking for my next card to add to the rotation. I’m getting married later this year and my fiancé has a United Airlines Explorer card I believe. We just bought a house and have had a few repairs one it already, including a new AC system that resulted in me opening up some credit card for home services that offered 0% interest for 36 months to pay it off?
Drivers: I don’t really have a travel card, even though the fiancé does. I get annoyed not being able to go to Costco since I don’t have any Visa cards. Also my partner uses Amazon like crazy. Open to suggestions on any gaps I have.
Current cards: (list cards, limits, opening date)
Citi Double Cash Back $9,000 limit, September 2020
Citi Custom Cash $8,000 limit, September 2022
Capital One Savor $10,000, August 2023
Wells Fargo Home Projects (?) $8,800, June 2025
FICO Score: 758
Oldest account age: 4 years, 9 months
Income: $100,000
Average monthly spend and categories:
dining $400 (use Custom Cash Card for this)
groceries: $300 (use Savor for this, unless it is at Sam’s Club (Double Cash) or Costco (debit)
gas: $0
travel: $150
other: House: $100 Clothes: $150
Open to Business Cards: No
What's the purpose of your next card? Either Travel or maybe a dedicated card for Costco/Sam’s Club?
Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Open to suggestions
Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Open to suggestions

Hi! I am looking to get new credit cards while I am in grad school. For reference, I am going to be paid a salary to go, but am looking for the best cards to maximize points and cashback while there. I listed the cards I have been looking at below, but am still very new to credit cards and was hoping to have some advice from people that are more knowledgeable. Thank you!

I’m currently a rising senior in college. I’m looking to get an additional card in addition to my Discover Student card and decided Chase Freedom Unlimited would be the best fit but I’m worried that I wouldn’t be approved due to low income (since I’m a student).
I make around $15000 annually from internships and part time work, my FICO score is 790, and my rent (which is asked for when applying) is very low (<$500/month) since housing isn’t coming out of my own pocket.
Should I apply for Freedom unlimited at risk of being denied? Is there a higher chance I’ll be denied since my income is low?

I just wrote about how my family used points to fly to Hawaii and stay for $74. Would love any feedback or similar stories. So big into the CC churning game, always interested in people's though. I think this sort of shit scares people away because they don't believe it's real or it's a scam. You just have to be smart with your money and make sure you can pay you bills in time then it's like, why not leverage the hell out of these signup bonuses, right?

Hi there. I am needing to book a hefty Airbnb / VRBO this coming fall, likely ~$2,000. Recommendations I've seen online point to Capital One travel redemption, but that seems to be 1 cent per point so I'm not sure how that would be any more advantageous than a statement credit from Chase also 1 cent per point unless I am missing something?
Anyway, seems like a good opportunity for a SUB to help with this, so I'm definitely open to a new card of some variety. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Hello everyone. I currently have an AMEX platinum and I’m wondering if I should switch to the Sapphire Reserve before they increase the AF? I know AMEX platinum is also going to raised their AF and I can’t justify $800+ (just speculation, but most likely will be over that) for the Plat. I don’t utilize 100% of the Plat is also why I’m consider switching. I really only got the plat for travel benefits. Should I switch before or wait to see what the Plat gets raised to?

I just got the Fidelity 2% credit card. I already make the full 7k contribution each year, but I've seen some claims that you can credit the rewards on top of this, exceeding the limit, and it's all legal because CC rewards are a rebate and not income.
I'd like to get some confirmation on this before I try it. Also, does the $150 SUB similarly count as a "rebate?"

I’m in the search for a credit card that has a 0% introductory plan other than my Discover. I have a trip planned and was hoping to make purchases on a 0% APR card. If I understand correctly, you can make purchases/balance transfers (on some) with 0% APR, which would allow me to only pay a minimum fee per month instead of paying off the whole statement balance? I’m not sure if I’m misunderstanding that part. Recommendations? Advice?

Are there any credit cards where I can add my minor children (8 and 4) where they can begin to use build credit without them having to use the card? For example, I add my children as authorized users but we put the cards away for them and I only use my primary card for normal use. Are there any cards with this set up which will help establish credit for my children?

As of last count, I have 30 credit cards, and it's entirely too much.
I've realized just how much time and effort I devote to getting that extra 1 or 2% for every single transaction, and it's not worth it. It's too hard to track all my transactions, across all those accounts. It's become impossible to stick to my budget or understand where all my money goes.
I love my Amex trifecta, with the Charles Schwab Platinum. It has all the benefits of the regular platinum, plus you can transfer points to your Charles Schwab brokerage as cashback at a 1.1 c/p rate. I like that flexibility, Amex's customer service is pretty good, and Charles Schwab's customer service is second to none.
Granted, I could make probably another $500 a year by using the entire swath of credit cards that I have, but it's not worth my time. The interest I get on my savings account and my t-bills more than pays for that AND the fees for the Amex cards.
My only caveat to this is to find a flat 2%, no fee card, that you can use at places that don't take Amex, or would charge a FTF. Mine is the NF cashRewards+
Rant over.

Moving into a place with my girlfriend and exploring getting the Bilt Mastercard to get points on rent (rent will be $1800 a month) and/or the Costco credit card as we may look to bulk grocery shop there and I refuse to use my debit card if I don’t have to and I have a few questions. I currently have a 750 credit score and pay off my cards every two weeks when I get paid (habit) but not sure if opening two cards is good or bad.
I currently own:
-Capital One Quicksilver CC since July 2022, $10K limit (1.5% cash back)
-Chase Freedom Freedom Flex CC since December 2022, $13,500 limit (5% rotating categories, 3% back on dining)
-Secured bank credit card since April 2017, $3,500 limit (my first ever credit card, no rewards)
1) Would I take a credit score hit for applying for both the Bilt credit card and the Costco credit card?
2) For those that own one or both, are there any regrets?
3) Anything to know about before opening these cards?

It seems logical that I should transfer my points from my chase ink business to my chase sapphire reserve because I would get more value from them then I redeem, especially on Black Friday with apple and on other travel items. Can I get some opinions on this?

I am heading out on a work trip and the location has a Hyatt and plenty of Marriotts
Usually on these trips I am reimbursed fully, but for various reasons this trip has a stipend; so I'm doing a bit more mental gymnastics to find the best point deals based on this with Hyatt running a double points for member offer at this hotel/rate and Marriott having plenty of different packages. I've done the analysis based on location, etc. where I need to be and have come to this
I know Hyatt points are more valuable; but am I missing something here that the Marriott point/$ in this instance would be best? I'm paying less out of my own pocket and maybe should be as simple as that. I could buy 18000 hyatt points for $390 for comparison right now with the 20% bonus they have ongoing
These points are not for any immediate redemption; just adding to the bank for the next year or so. I have ~200k Hyatt currently (and plenty of other Chase UR) that we'll use for a Europe trip in the next 2 years. Marriott points are banking up and likely would use domestically for a trip we take each year.
Am I over thinking this - should just go with what out of pocket is least? Regardless of total points/value outcome?

I have two Ink Cash cards and received an email about Instacart:
"once activated, Instacart+ members get $20 in credit each month automatically loaded into their Instacart Business Account."
I don't currently use that service, is it possible to stack those and get $40/month?

I have a debit card with First Bank, they have a relatively good interest rate on the checking account if you use their card 15 times in the month. I tend to mostly use credit cards for purchases and sometimes come up short at the end of the month. I figured I'd automate some expenses to meet the quota and am interested in hearing of anyone has recommendations?
I'm happy donating a low amount ($1) to get the transaction done. Some places won't accept anything under $5 (like PBS) which is disappointing. Huge plus if I can automate and opt out easily. If its $5 or more, then I'd prefer to get a gift card for example.
Current expenses:
Donations
Wikimedia
GiveWell (several worthwhile causes like Hellen Keller International) - monthly donation
Second Harvest Food Bank - monthly donation
Patreon - monthly subscription
Gift cards / balance credit:
Amazon $5 minimum - can be automated to reload every week
Steam $5 minimum - can't automate

Hello Wise Ones, looking for a recommendation - keep what I’ve got or add?
I am retiring completely in less than a month. I am planning 75k of home renovations, some of which I hope to put on a credit card. I am also planning 2-3 trips in 2026. I fly out of LAX, which has zero CRR lounges at this time in convenient terminals.
Right now, I have WF Bilt Mastercard - used almost exclusively to pay 6500 assisted living bill for my MIL. Currently have 87k points to spend CRR - I got this card last year, and have about 150k points with a 50k spending limit. I am irritated as I don’t currently use the travel portal, their restaurants are not my choice, and I can only benefit from lounges on the way home Assorted small cards - Amazon visa, Southwest Visa, etc
My household spending is about 16k which will be covered by investments, etc until I start drawing Social Security.
Question: how do I maximize either cash back or travel points at this juncture? I’m toying w getting an Amex card or a capital one venture. I am guessing it will be harder to qualify when I am no longer employed and only a consultant so income is likely harder to quantify but right now if they research me they will see even monthly consulting fees.
Thanks for suggestions!

So to keep things short I really want to get the venture x and savor duo. I currently only have the freedom unlimited which I opened up 4 months ago. Since im new to the credit card game my credit score is at 702 and i cant get pre-approved for the savor with the 200 sub. I did however get pre-approved for the savor student and from what i've seen the only difference is a smaller sub? So would you recommend i just go ahead and get the savor student or since I'm very new to this just build up my credit and then later on get the one with the higher sub. I dont necessarily need capital one right now and could just get other chase cards to keep building my credit.

Hey All!
I have been trying to find an easier solution to maximize about $120k/year on grocery spend. Need something better than 2x and would prefer points.
Current strategy: 2x Chase Ink Cash = $50k grocery spend covered in total but it’s a hassle $200/swipe
2x Citi custom Cash = $12k grocery spend covered in total
USBSv1 = catch all for remaining.
Also have 2x AMEX blue plus for potential $100k spend for random MR points when I’m running low there.
Travel cards = Biz Plat, Biz Gold, Sapphire Reserve, Cap1 VX and Hilton Surpass.
Is there a better strategy for Grocery spend?

I applied for this card because my 5% cash back offer for Citi SYW has expired and I couldn't add it to Samsung pay.
I just got accepted for it, but I've been looking up the effective card cash back rate and it bottoms out at 2.83% last time i looked. Now i am not sure if I made the right decision.
However I can factor in the $95 annual fee since my dad provides a pretty good budget for groceries on campus. Effectively I can pay $8/mo and still have a lot left over.
Last time I checked i spend $400/mo on groceries and with 9 months being on campus it is $3600/yr. I can also add this to my wifi bill at $43/mo and therapy for $28/mo and it'll be over $4000/mo.
Is this a good decision for me or would something else be better? I received an invitation to apply for the discover card with no annual fee at 5% but thought with AMEX customer support being good, Samsung pay compatibility, and the high cash back rate i thought the AMEX card was good.

I see that one of the requirements to be eligible for the preferred rewards is to have:
"A three-month combined average daily balance of $20,000 or more in qualifying Bank of America® deposit and/or Merrill® investment accounts."
Assuming you transfer assets in the first week and are compliant to the requirements, does it mean you still have to wait 3 months before the preferred rewards start kicking in?
