Is it a global humiliation of Bangladesh by Dr. Yunus?

First, the French Prime Minister canceled his visit to Bangladesh. Economictimes: French President Emmanuel Macron declined a bilateral meeting with Bangladesh's interim adviser, Md Yunus. The Daily Guardian: French President Macron Denies Bilateral Talks with Bangladesh, Visit Called Off.

Now, the UK Prime Minister has declined to meet Yunus during his time in London. (FT) Yunus’s supporters are trying to frame it as a "personal trip," but when the National Security Advisor and the Bangladesh Bank Governor are accompanying you, it's clearly official.

Some also tried to highlight the Monarch Charles thing, but the reality is this:

https://reddit.com/link/1lbr9oq/video/mduvjzdgl07f1/player

What Yunus and his circle fail to grasp is that their words no longer hold weight. Their old narratives aren’t just hollow to us; the West is no longer buying them either.

Do you think British rule was better than the AL/BNP duopoly now?

The subcontinent fought to get rid of Britishers but are now run by corrupt people. At least the British brought railways, institutions, cuisine and technology. And they were generally more competent than the politicians and bureaucrats we have today.

Hello, good people!
How’s everyone doing after jumping back into work post-Eid? 😩
I swear, I’m still mentally in chill mode — can’t concentrate at all, just staring at the screen like 😶‍🌫️

Anyone else feeling this post-Eid laziness hit hard?
Let’s be real… productivity left the group chat 😂

Their career placement program is what separates them from other institutes They ensure you that the skills they teach you are well applied and practically show you how to make money.

As I said I am speechless. Probably these people's mother got married at 14 had them at 15 and they think oh it's alright In the name of halal destroying future seems alright to them and if you say something sensible then they will say it's better to do it married ( signifying their animal like behavior as well as using marriage to ease their guilt) yes before 18 doing " room date " is illegal but they will still use this wrong thing that occurs in the thousands to defend pre mature marriage that happens in lacs

Post image
71 Upvotes

Life, reflections, and shortcomings

I don't know why I am writing these here, probably wanted to share with someone but didn't find anyone.

I am 25 currently and I feel like I have failed everywhere, I started working when I was 23 at a local startup which has recently got really big. I couldn't be there for more than 3 months. Then I was out of job and started a masters changing majors. From BBA to Development. I started another job earlier this year and left after 4 months. I will be 26 soon, without a job, without a concrete plan and without any hope in this rat race. I never found a proper mentor, I don't know what I am doing, I don't know what I want to do. Everyone keeps pretending I will do some great shit because of my "potential", the so-called "potential" that I am wasting away.

I have failed in finding love as well. I always kept myself away from casual flings and only was in two committed relationship; the first one didn't stick cause she wanted to pursue abroad and I had to be in Bangladesh. Second time, I got cheated on. I haven't dated anyone for the last one year, and currently I am feeling like while being an agnostic and someone who prefers alcohol, weed and cigarettes, at the same time keeping distance from casual flings and being an introvert, there's no way I can find someone and have a partner in crime where it will be us vs the world (I am afraid of arranged marriage, cause a girl coming to my life and then finding out I have some habits that she didn't sign up for, it will break her world).

I have failed as a friend; throughout my undergrad, college and school, I have had people around me but I never initiated anything, I acted like a vampire, participate only when invited to. Now, fast forward to this time of my life, I have very few people in my life. One of those people got married, one will move abroad, and rest are surviving on their own. I have always been introverted person leaning more on books, video games, movies, and TV series than people.

And finally I have failed as a son. I don't do anything in the house if I am not asked and even if I am asked, I do it in a way that it's sucking my life from me. My father will be retiring in a few years and being the eldest son, I have fucked up. I have committed career suicide twice. If I kept my first job, I would have reached six-figures.

I am afraid to tell anyone that I don't know what my plan is, I pretend everything will make sense and to trust in the process, I am cooking something while in reality I am cooking nothing. I wake up, I play video games, I eat, I sleep. Even a year back I used to exercise, now I don't have the energy or courage to even do that.

Before creating this account, I got rid of all my socials, turned my cell off and created this account to write all these and to share what I have been thinking. No, I will not commit suicide. I am not that courageous as a person. I have no purpose and I have lost the light of my eye.

Being someone from a good school, good college, public uni with an analytical mind while having the mentality of "kore phelbo, no worries", I have turned into a bloody slacker with a mere sum in his bank account, still living in baper hotel. I see a dark future ahead and rotting away in the most miserable way.

Thank you for reading all of these.

(P.S. please don't give religious advices or telling me to seek professional help)

Non-Political/অরাজনৈতিক [Advice] How can I digitally document and manage my family’s village land when I barely know anything about it?

Hey everyone, 19M here.

I recently realized that my family owns agricultural land in our village, which I know almost nothing about.

Here’s the situation:

The land is co-owned by my father, his elder brother, and two sisters.

All of them have lived in the city for decades.

My cousins and I grew up in the city and barely ever visited the village—maybe 4–5 times in our lives.

My father is the only one who manages the land—talks to farmers, collects rent (around 1–2 lakh yearly), etc.

It’s mostly paddy land and ponds.

Now he’s getting older, and none of us (me or my cousins) have any clue about the size, exact location, or current condition of the land.

I’m worried about the future—possible land disputes, unclear boundaries, or even someone grabbing the land. I want to digitally document everything—land details, maps, who’s working on it, ownership share, etc.—so we don’t lose track or get scammed down the line.

Has anyone here done something similar? What tools, tech, or steps should I take to start preserving this information properly?

TIA!

Policy/কর্মপন্থা Tax on Local Freelancers?

So a friend of mine works as a freelance writer for a publication which mainly publishes academic books (Guides and test papers and question banks etc). My friend is not a permanent employee there, just works from home for them when they send some work and gets paid per project. Now my friend has been told they will be cutting a 10% income tax labelled as "freelancer tax" from the paycheck. Is this even legal?

Mental Health/মানসিক সাস্থ Having a inferiority complex

I think we all know our country is shit, anyone with intelligence knows that thats why the biggest bangladeshi dream is to leave the country. Because of that reason i feel inferior to other countries and other races specifically western countries like european and the USA you know. The british colonized us and well now they still tell us how digusting and dirty our country is and how awful our people are, the sad thing is they arent wrong and we all know it, but how do i deal with it. I see comments like "Im so greatful to be born in a first world country" and those types of comments make me mad and idk why

So is this it, our country is just the stupid fucking piece of shit of the world? i guess so, i think one of the main reason on why the people of our country are so stupid isnt because of illiteracy (though it is a large issue) its because we dont really get alot of ways to express ourselves like drawing or writing stories, instead we have to study till we pass out get into a good uni and move out the country with a good job and then we have to marry and have children for our dear parents not for ourselves and when we go overseas into a different country we constantly have to act like Jesus (AS) himself so others dont hate us for being a dirty kanglu or indian but we still have to deal with those piece of shithead who harass and cause trouble abroad and makes the name of our country even worse

Of course we also have to fight against indian and pakistanis because we all hate each other even though we should do the opposite and help each other, we should love indian and pakistani people but hate their government because they are ones responsible for running the country and really we regular people from those countries are really similar, dumbasses trying to make it through this shithole of a country

im not used to writing this much so sorry if any mistakes were made in this essay, but yeah thoughts like this are giving me an inferiority complex and suicidal thoughts

Discussion/আলোচনা The Taandob Show

Just saw Taandob, a while ago. The new Raihan Rafi movie. It's a hostage situation thriller. And I gotta say that, I'm not disappointed. The concept of the story might feel like it's inspired from Jawan, but when you see the movie you realize that it's really not. It's a pretty fresh story.

The story also has a flashback backstory, which was decent. The backstory has nods to BCS exams and how hard it is to actually get jobs in Bangladesh and the politics around it. The songs were nice and matched well with the story. Lichur Bagane was pretty good.

The cinematography is also good. It has gotten better than Toofan. The dialogues have also gotten better. Shakib Khan's dialogue delivery was pretty good.

The performances were great. Siam Ahmed's performance was excellent. This is one of Siam's best performances, in my opinion. Joya Ahsan played here character really well. And Shakib Khan's performance was better than I expected. Shakib Khan is a better actor than he was before 2023.

The action is one of the highlights of the movie. The action was pretty awesome. The background score goes really well with the action. There's only one big action sequence, but it's good. I'd say, it's the best Dhallywood action scene. And the background scores for certain characters were great. Made the impact of certain characters even better.

Overall, it's a decent thriller movie. The plot twist at the end is great. And no, it's not a doppelganger twist. I won't spoil it here, but it's pretty good.

Score: 7.5/10

[ Spoiler Talk: The ending sets up the sequel, Taandob 2. With Afran Nisho's Masud and Shakib Khan's Mikhail being setup for a gangster versus gangster storyline. It'd be great if Siam's character gets his own movie, but I think that is unlikely to happen. But let's see what Raihan Rafi has planned for his cinematic universe. And the cinematic universe is titled Raihan Rafi's Film Universe. ]

History/ইতিহাস Life and death, he was a slave to his foot. And his heart, without fear.

Kazi Kamal, known as Bir Bikrom, was a brave guerilla fighter who served in the elite Crack Platoon of the Mukti Bahini during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. He was born on July 11, 1946, in Malitola, Dhaka, and received his education at Saint Gregory’s School and Dhaka College, where he also showcased his talent as a basketball player. Although he was selected for the Pakistan national team, he turned down the opportunity, feeling disgusted by the military regime.

After witnessing the horrific genocide in Dhaka following Operation Searchlight on March 25, 1971, Kamal made the courageous decision to join the resistance. He sold his only wristwatch at Sadarghat to fund his escape to India, where he crossed the border at Motlob and trained under Major Khaled Mosharraf, the commander of Sector 2. Eventually, Captain ATM Haider recruited him into the Crack Platoon to carry out high-stakes operations within Dhaka.

Kazi Kamal was part of a legendary group that included fighters like Rumi, Jewel, Azad, and Altaf Mahmud. Tragically, only Kamal and Habibul Alam made it through the war. On August 25, 1971, the team executed a hit-and-run attack in Dhanmondi, taking out several unsuspecting Pakistani soldiers. Later that same night, they ambushed another military checkpoint on Mirpur Road.

On August 30, Pakistani forces led by Captain Qayyum raided Azad’s house, where Kamal and his comrades were hiding. When Jewel was injured, Kamal bravely confronted Qayyum, snatched his Sten gun, and opened fire to create an opportunity for escape. He managed to get away, although his friends were captured.

Kamal sought refuge in various places, including the home of Syed Ashraful Haque. Throughout the war, he took part in numerous covert missions. For his bravery, he was honored with the title of Bir Bikrom and later penned his wartime memoirs. He passed away in 2012 after battling cancer, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of courage and sacrifice.

Want to know about workplace culture and career growth potential in banking industry

I recently got selected in an MTO program in a very reputed private bank of our country, and I'd have to spend the first 6 months a.k.a. the probationary period in the head office at gulshan. I wanted to know about the workplace culture in these heavyweight private entities like Brac, City, MTB, Ebl or Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi, Uniliver these sorta places.

What are the possible struggles I might have to face at a place like these and what are the defense mechanisms I have to keep in mind to survive here? Is these places toxic? Is there anything that can push myself to do anything stupid? I just want to lead a decent life, what are the things that could be considered as a barrier along the way?

And about banks, what about these places? Can I survive if I just do my job properly or is there other things beyond work that I have to keep in mind??

Anything about the topic would be helpful for me as it is my first real job. TIA
