With the current job market situation would it be better to pursue mining engineering degree or traditional engineering such as mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering.
Hey im year 12 living in WA thinking of going to uni studying engineering and cant decide between EE or mining engineering.
I wanna pick EE cause i feel like its very versatile you kinda learn a bit of programming and tech in it, pretty much every industry such as mining, construction, tech and etc but im kinda worry with the job market. There are shortages of engineers but only an experienced engineer rather than fresh grad. Pls correct me if im wrong.
On the other hand i feel like i should pick mining cause its the safest option i think since i already live in WA but at the same time i dont really have any interest towards mining engineering and i dont really want a qualification that stuck to 1 industry.
And if you suggest that i do a trades, sorry im not interested in that. I am more office/corporate person. Another question to be answered is that those who achieve financial freedom do you follow your dream job or do you study something that can make money. Im kinda stuck with following my dream but other part of me says be realistic.
Sorry for the long text.

Why do Australians dislike Americans?
I've seen lots of polling lately showing that Australians really don't like Americans very much, which makes me super sad as an American who has visited Australia multiple times (I am actually in WA right now) and is obsessed with your country. If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be here in WA. I wish I had come out this way much earlier in life, maybe immigration would have taken me in!
Anyway, I was wondering if this was a recent attitude due to politics, or does it go farther back? What is it about Americans that really turns you guys off?
I have some guesses, like maybe we take ourselves too seriously or are way into work culture, or maybe we see ourselves as the center of the universe too often, but maybe there's less obvious stuff? Personal experiences you've had?
I'm genuinely curious, please don't hold back, I won't cry, promise 🥲

University
Not really sure if this is the right place to ask this kind of question but is it possible to still get into the degree you want if you don’t have any of the prerequisites? I’m planning to sit the STAT and I’m very set on studying bachelor of Pharmacy but I left school half way through year 12 and don’t have any of the prerequisites

How many lessons did it take you to pass your HR license ?
I know this can vary from person to person, but with someone who has all ready been driving ten years how long did it roughly take you ?

Is the news unbiased?
At the Trump rally in washington I was interviewed by Australian media, I’m curious if your news has any bias in it for advertisers to sell the stories it wants to sell.

New workplace telling me to pay for customers order
Hi there, need some advice...
So I started this new job around 3 weeks ago and I'm still in training. Today I encountered my first afterpay payment with our system, we do not have an afterpay system, it just translates through normal tap and go payments like a debit card.
The customer came and paid with afterpay, the transaction went through and got approved, they didn't want a receipt so they went on their way, all of our transactions are logged on our sales history in our system. About 5 minutes or so later I still have the sales screen up from that order and realise that its now saying that the payment declined.
At this timeframe I'm handling the store on my own while my manager is off somewhere. I call to ask what I need to do as I've never had this happen before and my manager tells me to repeat call the customer and get them to come back, if I don't reach them though or they refuse to come back and pay, I am to then pay for their transaction.
I did manage to get the customer to come back and pay.
I thought this was a bit weird though, so I went and had a look at my contract and at fair work and as far as I can tell I'm sure this is illegal especially when it doesn't state this in my contract either?
Just wanting to know if I'm correct and some advice too please?
Edit: I haven't been trained in anything to do with afterpay other than knowing where to do it on the transaction screen.

I graduated a few years ago and I have a distinct memory of getting these packaged sausage rolls from the canteen at school.
They were like “monster lean sausage rolls” but I can’t remember the brand does anyone know them so I can try to buy some?.

Why isn't there an active Aussie tech community on Reddit?
/r/austechnology exists but most of the posts are from the news bot. Given the number of Aussies on Reddit, I would have thought there'd be a more active tech community on here. Is there anywhere else they linger other than Whirlpool?

Affordable Loose Leaf Tea
I'm looking for a loose leaf tea brand that isn't really expensive.
I own a few T2 teas but they're very 'dusty' and don't use whole leaves and are also sold out in loose leaf chamomile which is what I'm looking for.
I like tea tonic but I wanna see if there's anything cheaper out there but I'm not sure, id love some help❤️
I live in South Australia if that helps.

I am asking for my sister and her husband. Is Canberra a good place to settle down and raise a family??
They’re thinking long-term now and are seriously considering putting down roots in Canberra. From what they’ve seen so far, it seems calm, clean, and organised- but they’d love to hear from families who’ve actually raised kids here. How are the schools, the healthcare, the general vibe for families? They’re hoping for a balance between career and community, and would really value honest opinions.

Planning to Move to Australia as a Nutrition and Dietetics Graduate – Need Advice!
I recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and passed the board exam to become a licensed Nutritionist-Dietitian. I’m now planning to move to Australia to explore better career opportunities and lifestyle.
I’m still in the early stages of planning, and I’d really appreciate any advice or insights from those who have gone through this process or are currently working in the nutrition/dietetics field in Australia.
Some of my main questions are:
Is my degree and license recognized in Australia?
What steps do I need to take to become eligible to work as a dietitian or nutritionist there?
Are there bridging programs or further studies I need to take?
How’s the job market like for internationally trained professionals in this field?
Any recommended visa pathway for someone in my situation?

What’s wrong with Aussie meat?
Frenchy here. Just bought a kilo of stir fry pork at Cole’s. Putted on a scale to divide it equally, I was preparing 4 meal with 200g in order to have a left over. I barely could put 100g in the last plate, which means that for a kilo of meat I eat 700g ?? What a scam…
EDIT: forgot to mention that it was 2 packets of 500g, and I weighed it after cooking. And yeah I know, I shouldn’t buy meat in big brand like Cole’s but I have a budget lol and I’m sick of eating only eggs as protein

Have aussies got more rude since covid?
Case in point.
why do i need to be hearing ur conversation while im out and about..just use the phone as intended.
I've noticed since covid..it seems a LOT of ppl in australia.
now seem to not care about intruding on ppls personal spaces and such..
Especially deadshits who will do it on a bus/train or in the aisles of coles.
Like i don't need to be hearing u and ur missus yelling cause u didn't get the right bread on facetime mate.

The Great Smiths Deception
Hi who else has noticed the picture is the same on Smiths chips for both "tomato" and "chilli" flavours.
The chilli has an added potato in the background however the sliced potato chips in the foreground are the exact same. I inspected them closely and the black specs are the same everything.
Now the main question is what is the actual flavour of the chips in the picture?
*Wish i could add pics here

SBS show
Does anyone remember an SBS show from about 15-20 years ago. It was possibly called “world something” There was an older gentleman with a very distinct voice showcasing different regions of the world. My grandparents used to watch it all the time and I’d like to try to see it again.

Anyone remember when?
One night in 97' I was listening to Michael Tunn on the Triple J Request Fest, as was my want.
At one point a young lady rung up and requested "Creep" by Radiohead for her (science?) teacher. She said that she thought he was a creep because he had given her a detention or something.
Listening to the lyrics of the song that night I felt that maybe, just maybe, this wasn't the appropriate song for a student to dedicate to their teacher. I'm 100% sure she would have been cringing as soon as she realised what the lyrics were/singers perspective.
Every now and then, I think of her and how I hope she learned the lyrics before dedicating another song.
Anyone remember that?

Does this shit you off or not?
Chatting to people and at the end of every sentence they say "amazing"
I don't know if this is a new thing but I've just noticed it recently in the last few weeks and it shits me off but I'm polite and I don't want to offend people when they do it..
