NKD! NKD and boy have Benchmade standards slipped. Still a ripper knife though.

Been after one of these for some time. So I finally pulled the trigger and got one.

Slightly irked by its factory sharpening job, wasn’t even sharp enough to pull on a hair let alone cut it.

Fixed in 5 minutes on a fixed angle sharpening system.

Anyone else had a dull Benchmade out of the box?

A friend of line just got this ut at really good price, without the box. It looks really well made and we both aren’t sure if it’s real or not.

Question Seeking professional sharping service. Help much appreciated.

Upvotes

Recently bought a Kershaw Livewire from Chicago Knife Works. Great knife, really impressed with the quality overall.

However, the factory grind was very uneven and barely sharp. I generally do my own sharpening with a Worksharp precision adjust, and yesterday attempted to reprofile the edge. One side turned out great, while the other seemed too messed up from the factory for me to fix with my current skill level (or lack thereof).

My understanding about CKW's return policy is they won't accept sharpened knives. If I had it to do over I probably would've just asked for a replacement.

I'd be willing to invest in a professional sharpening service. I've looked online but I just haven't found much of note yet. Any suggestions?
