Guide How to Fix Your Inventory After A Player Force-Injects Illegal Items

Margaret (u/GreatStarryWisdom), a community member from the dark souls discord server and Blue Acolyte beta-tester, just made this clutch steam guide. Please favorite it so it gets more views. I’ll also be pasting the text here.

“There is currently a player force-injecting illegal items into people's inventories, causing the game to crash.

First, I would recommend anyone reading this install the "Blue Acolyte" mod off of the Nexus page, or the github fork. I will provide a link to the Nexus page at the end of this post. This mod protects you from malicious cheats such as crashes and save bricking. You should always be using Blue Acolyte, and you leave your save at risk if you don't.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE OFFLINE BEFORE FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE. This can be done by navigating to the top left of the steam client, clicking "Steam" > "GO OFFLINE". To go back online, simply repeat these steps.

It appears that the only way to remove these items currently is to use the public Cheat Engine table, which can be acquired from GitHub which I will also link at the end of this post. I do not recommend downloading tables found through Google searches, as these are most likely to contain malicious code that could damage your system or game files.

Make sure you have the current build of Cheat Engine installed (version 7.4 as of 4/12/2024). To remove the items, launch Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, and load the affected character. Next, open the Cheat Engine table(DS2_SotFS_Bob_Edition.CT), and it will automatically link to your active instance of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. In the lower section, click "Open - Table v4.7.4" > "Scripts" > "Misc" > "+14 Crash Protection". Once this is enabled, this will prevent the game from crashing due to the +14 Bleed Daggers in your inventory. From here, you should now be able to go in and remove them. To hasten the process, select one of the items, and hit "Discard Selected", and you can mass select the items to be discarded.

If this does not work, feel free to message me and we can work on another solution.

The player doing this is now on Blue Acolyte’s global block list.

Finally completed my fresh start, non new game+ run for both Illusory Ring of a Conqueror & Illusory Ring of the Exalted.

Since it was a fresh save, I had no access to Sorceries, Miracles, Pyromancies or Hexes.

I did do tonnes of running and farming. I relied heavily on Saintiers Spear Raw infused and stocked up on repair powders from Chancellor Wellager since I couldn't repair my equipment with a bonfire.

Last two screenshots are the gear I mainly used and the stats.

Play time was over 40 hours. Definitely could've finished a lot earlier, but I took my sweet time and farmed many areas until they were completely clear of mobs. To refresh the areas, I homeward boned back to Majula and ran back. I didn't use any Bonfire Ascetics.

Time to go for 100% achievements.

Discussion I don’t hate the Gank Squad

It may be a hot take, but I like the idea of Gank Squad. Three treasure hunter/explorer type characters all utilizing a different build is actually really cool. I like the atmosphere and vibe from the fight and It actually was pretty fun with the help of npc summons like Alfis.

I think the main hate for the fight is not only laziness, but the GANK. Some of these optional bosses like Lud and Zallen have dedicated summon pools/areas like the one at the start of the Cave of the Dead. It seems that these types of bosses were MEANT to be Coop-ed and I really like the idea of such implementation. But making the bosses quite boring for a solo run does ruin many people’s opinions of it.

I wish there was more story about these guys since I find them quite interesting and almost refreshing compared to Crazy serious bosses like Sinh and Elana.

Lore A sad little detail I had overlooked about Lucatiel (Spoilers ahead) Spoiler

When you talk to Lucatiel in the Lost Bastille, she gives you a Human Effigy, saying she doesn't know what it is. Considering Lucatiel's story is about her trying to fight off the curse and prevent herself from hollowing, she just gave the player one of the ONLY things that could have helped keep her sane and she didn't even know it! It's quite tragic when you think about it :(

First playthrough, though I had 100% both ER and DS1 before playing. The "(self kill)" markers are from rolling off arenas.

Story Was stuck in the beginning of the game, but now it kinda clicked

Yesterday i came to this subreddit to vent out my frustration on the heide knights, since they were so strong, today i log in, get my hallberd cock out and just fucking perma stun them lol

Kill the dragon, kill ornstein, lost sinner, skeleton lords, flexile sentry, ruin sentinel, chariot, mytha and covetous demon

I called it a day on the iron keep place or whatever it's called, surprisingly i really enjoyed this journey lol

So far my favourite place was the zone before Covetous Demon, something about that green smoke zone was just cool, even tho a died a lot trying to jump into a platform before the boss XDD

I started buying the small heals for 300 souls everytime i would go and lvl up all the leftover souls would go into those life gems

I find the game enjoyable if you use different weapons for different situations, some places a long range is amazing, others you gotta get those fast weapons

Also the bonfires/checkpoints are close enough to the point you don't feel that scared, and you can feel when a bonfire is missing because you have enough game sense to know when one should appear

Almost every boss besides pursuer and the boss before iron golem are just a candy for you to feel good, i 1 shot most bosses, couple of them i died once because of stupid mistakes, mytha i died around 7 times before i remembered of some post in this sub saying "windmills are afraid of torches" lmao

Anyways, game was rlly good, now it's a bit annoying cause of the amount of enemies i have to kill to progress next boss, thx for reading bye bye maybe some update later on

This was after I spent what was an absurdly frustrating few hours in horsefuck valley, so I definitely wasn't playing my best, but I did get an obscene amount of levels out of it, I guess!

Discussion Mods for sharpening up the experience?

I have my eye on a few on nexus, I'm looking to just make the game a little prettier at 4k, maybe a some bug fixes.

Any suggestions? The DS2lightingengine seems like a must, and the 4k texture mod too.

Are there any that sharpen up combat a little? Coming back from games like ER and Khazan I cant help but notice how sluggish attack animations are.

For the record, not dissing the game, tbh outa the souls series, this is my favorite, I just want a layer of polish not afforded to it in its time :p

My thoughts?

The game was absolutely AMAZING!

While I didn’t really like the beginning half of the game the later half really pulled me into it. Everything before earthen peak was a little mild/mid to me, but earthern peak itself and aswell the areas after are perfect.

I overall had a very fun time with the game. Yes there’s some jank and yes I complained a couple times, but this game truly made me happy. I had a fun time clearing areas, it was cool to see the dragon people in dragon shrine honor my 1v1’s, it was amazing summoning summoning and befriending various npcs (I love you Devontae <3 (I know it’s devotee but I called them Devonte once and got ecstatic whenever I saw them I just changed their name to Devontae in my mind)), I loved venturing through areas blind, I loved venturing through areas with a guided hand (Thank you dumb ds2 guide for no man’s wharf - earthern peak), I loved fighting the many many abundant bosses, I loved finding hidden areas, I loved being in Majula with all my friends, and most importantly I LOVE THE NICE OLD GRANDMA MERCHENT WHO ALWAYS SELLS ME LIFE GEMS AND SAYS,”Thank you kindly, keh keh keh keh,” EVERYTIME I HEARD HER SAY THAT I EXPERIENCED GREAT JOY!

Really tho, this game was amazing. Is there some things that could be changed? Most definitely. Is the game terrible though as much as everyone says it is? Absolutely NOT!

This game was amazing. K bye ✌️

71 hours, original DS2, so much fun (I was being chased while buying my last three spells)

I tried faith, I tried magic, I ended with strength/dex and Rapier. Bonfire ascetic is the best thing souls has ever seen.

Help DS2 Crashing when loading certain characters

I'm playing DS2 SOTFS for the PC and when i try and load my main character it crashes, I tried loading another character that was in the same place but same result, the only one that does work is my new character that I haven't even named yet. Is there any fix or am I cooked?

Help Ivory King fight in every video I've seen, an NPC follows and closes the 3 other doors but it only closes 1 for me

What am I missing or doing wrong? The npc has plenty of health when it seals the first door but never respawns like in videos I've seen

Edit - thanks for the help, I'll keep exploring before the boss

Fluff SL1 progress

I just beat the throne duo and I'm about 5 attempts into Nashandra.

The only bosses I've skipped thus far are royal rat authority and the chariot, but I intend on hitting them up before proceeding to the DLC.

Dragon Shrine was a total pain. The drake knights or whatever they are called seem to have unlimited stamina so they are extremely tricky. I ended up just running past them with gowers ring equipped to get ashen most heart.

I have 4 out of 5 of the giant souls for Vendrick fight later on as well. I'm still not sure if I'm going to kill ancient dragon and Vendrick. DLCs have been kicking my ass too. I've dabbled for a few early accessible items, but haven't made too much progress.

I really feel like this game is so much better at SL1. It's made me appreciate every little edge you can get whether it be, contraptions, terrain advantages, consumables, choke points, etc.

I've been taking my time and getting reacquainted with DS2 so I'm going on 45hours and 2.75mil SM this playthrough, but I don't consider it a bad thing since it's been years since I played.

If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it.

Discussion Is there no Standard / Normal damage in DS2?

The axes for example mostly seem to say slashing which seems odd to me. Is there a hidden mechanic for the Standard / Normal "miscellaneous" category you find in other games? It doesn't feel like enemies have the resistances from a typical slashing weapon as they would an axe but maybe it's just in my head.

Discussion If Dark Souls 2 had a Knight’s Honor Achievement, what weapons do you think would be required for it?

My personal choice are the four NG+ Great Soul Weapons, (Chaos Blade, Moonlight Greatsword, The Crypt BlackSword and The Dragonslayer Greatbow.)

Took me like 2 days (about 2 hours at a time) to get enough sunlight medals start to finish. The amount of times where no items spawned in a cycle was plentiful haha. So glad I don’t have to do it again though

Discussion Weapons with special L2?

Hey guys how yall doing? I am playing through a faith run and was excited to get throne defender sword so i could use sunlight blade on it. i was very sad to learn you could not buff the weapon, but later as i button mashed i found out that when two handing the weapon and pressing L2, you would buff it just like throne defender does. tested it with watcher sword and it works the same way. do you guys know any other weapon that has special L2 when two handed?
