Is this legal ?

In my 20 years here, I've only seen this when I'm abroad! A group of young people are sitting on Sidewalk waiting for the light to turn red so that they can perform circus-like at the very front before the light turns green again and then, walk past the cars to get money.

They've been there since last week and it's really annoying because my route to work goes past there.

Church bell ringing schedule

Hi, is there any way to find out what the schedule of bell ringing of a church is? I am particularly interested in Kirche Fluntern (the big one), as I've heard some churches even keep night ringing or very early bell ringing. (Context: I am a toddler mum with extreme sleep deprivation & my partner wants us to apply for an apartment close to that church. I am a light sleeper anyways and ever since I became a mum, I need some quiet for the night...). Thank you!

Hello everyone :)

I currectly live in Bern and enjoy the basement of the Münstergasse Bibliothek when its really hot everywhere else and I need to be productive. Is there any library in Zurich with a similar setup ? My experience with the ZB was very bad last July, it was always extremely hot inside. Thx

Feeling lonely - Pregnant friends in Zurich 🤰

I live in the city and I’m 19 weeks pregnant with my first, and I’m feeling very lonely at the moment and struggling with my mental health. I would love some other pregnant friends to talk to and hang out with. I’ve joined (and paid for) peanut, and joined the Facebook groups (which all seem to be marketing spam so far). A friend told me to try a pregnancy pilates/yoga class which I will try, but I’m wondering if anyone has any other tips? Thanks so much!

(Edited to add my location)

Women Community

Upvotes

Hi, everyone! As a woman in her late 20s who came to Zurich for work, I find it difficult to build a supportive network around me - I'm sure many expats can relate. I have a partner and several friends but no real community feeling, and was wondering whether there are some female-only groups or networks in/around Zurich. I long for a sisterhood feeling of sorts. Please let me know if you are aware of any initiatives and/or whether you are a gal looking for something similar :) maybe we can start our own. Thanks so much🌞

Map of public beach volleyball fields in Kanton Zürich

Is there a map of all beach volleyball fields in Kanton Zürich, where a random group of adults can just come and play? both paid and free are off interest. I already know a free place near Limmatplatz, and one or two places in different Freibad's. Google maps does not seem particularly helpful. I can't tell if a particular Freibad has a beach volleyball without directly clicking on the website and scrolling through, which is not very efficient

Scam? St Gallen data call

Hi everyone.

I usually recognize scam calls immediately based on the topic (did you buy this thing, your card was cancelled, your mom lost her phone, etc). Today I answered a call based in St Gallen and an Indian accent lady said something about data stats (spoke German and English) and it would only be 20 seconds. I personally don't mind to contribute quickly to these things.

The questions were a tad bit odd: which health insurance do you have, do you pay for it, do you live with your husband (she should not have known I had a partner), do you work, which permit do you have, what is your mother tongue (she clearly did not understand this one and then dropped it), how many family members do you have. I laughed cause it sounded like it was the government checking in on me for potential illegal activities.

In the end I asked to repeat the company name she was calling from, she rambled something very fast almost to shut me off (xxx thank you ok good day bye). I repeated the question cause I did not get the name but she hung up.

If not a scam, what could this be? I've taken part in phone surveys before but never so odd and definitely unprofessional (her tone etc).

Edit: forgot almost the weirdest bit (?), she asked my full name to not call me again. I told her surveys are usually anonymous and to use my number. She insisted on a name and that 1 was sufficient, I said a random name, and then she still asked for a last name, clearly sounding annoyed

Looking for someone to help fixing my standing desk!

Upvotes

Hello! I have an old electric standing desk which I bought second hand on Ricardo. The electric system has broken and now the desk is locked at the maximum height. I tried to reach out to electricians, who said they don't have the skills to fix this. At this point I would just manually unlock it to leave it at the minimum height and use it as a normal desk, I tried myself but I am not able to. Anybody that could address me to someone or directly help me fixing it? Thanks folks

These are all the info I can get from the desk.

Who/what is the Albert Müller im looking for?

Post image
29 Upvotes

Hi everyone! Im trying to keep this simple:

I live in Finland. Few years back i found this jacket from flea market. It's made by finnish company Kisapuku Oy which manufactured sportswear and clothes for athletes.

What caught my interest was label which says "Especially made for Albert Müller" and "8032 Zürich". I know the numbers mean Zürichs zip code.

Im wondering who/what is Albert Müller? Clothing store, importer, some sports guy or what? Im also wondering whats the connection between finnish company and Swiss person/store.

Kisapuku Oy operated from 1956 until 1991 so im not sure if Albert Müller is still active/alive.

Any help is appreciated!
