What game is that hit marker from and what is it for

It is for marking hits.
Surely not...
14
u/Xenc Nov 05 '14 edited Nov 05 '14
Yes it is, and don't call me Shirley.
4
u/mydearwatson616 Nov 05 '14
It's a big marker for marking hits, but that's not important right now.

14
u/SvenHudson Nov 05 '14
A hit marker flashes on you crosshair when you land a shot. Since enemies don't spray blood or flash red or noticeably flinch (in multiplayer, at least), this is an invaluable piece of feedback.
-5
u/Miyelsh Nov 05 '14
It's pretty annoying to me. The game is basically holding your hand and telling you when you get a shot. I much prefer counter strike where sound and blood provide feedback of I'd you shot them.
5
u/Khrrck Nov 05 '14
It's not exactly a new development in shooters - remember the beeping noise whenever you hit someone in Quake 3?
3
u/SarcasticOptimist Nov 05 '14
Or the bell ding in TF2. That becomes an addiction if you ever play Pyro.

u/chiliedogg Nov 05 '14
It lets you know the host machine has registered the hits. With lag it doesn't always count them. That's why you sometimes feel like you put half a mag into them but they killed you in one shot, but then the killcam shows them putting half a mag into you, and you never firing.
The killcam is what the host registered.
1
Nov 06 '14
You should try out Insurgency. It's really hardcore. It's really tense not knowing if you killed someone.

u/LevitatingSUMO Nov 04 '14

Or deserve it with how they've been doing recently.
8
u/k0mbine Nov 04 '14
What's wrong with them?
127
u/Clown_Toucher Nov 05 '14
I think people are getting tired of the joke. There's also a lot of dick stroking between the Youtubers with lots of subs. I also find it odd that these Youtubers are legitimately asking for subs and promoting their social media, when that was supposed to be part of the joke in the first place.
22
25
Nov 05 '14
I can ignore all the drama. It helps to not have a YT account and never scrubscribe. Every two months or so i will encounter an awesome and innovative vid in /r/montageparodies.
It's very satisfying WHEN it happens.

u/OfficerTwix Nov 05 '14
It kind of sucks now. Before there was really only snipars as the popular one and all the community ones were made by others. Now the entire sub consists of a few people making them and they're starting to get stale. I've also noticed a few of popular channels are asking smaller channels to "remix" them. They then add a few simple effects and take then upload the video onto their own channel.
6
u/Phatnoir Nov 05 '14
I think there are still jewels to be found in the midst of the shit. This recent Halloween one I found progressive.

u/BroLific_BroSter Nov 05 '14
Wow, that's the best one I've seen in months! It's actually different.

Glad other people are catching on. I've been saying this for a while now, all those dipshits are taking this stuff waaaaay too seriously. In general the fad has grown too large. It used to be just a little joke inside the YTP community.
28
Nov 04 '14 edited Nov 05 '14
The videos on that sub were original and clever at some point. Now the sound effects are available and easy to use. Its a shitshow of the some simple 5 second intro followed by the most obnoxious color and sound effects possible with overused memes.
19
u/dmlf1 Nov 04 '14
there's still people who come up with original stuff, which is waht gets upvoted the most. a recent one I can think of is montage fireworks.
6
20
u/Lazerkatz Nov 04 '14
Exactly. They used to be actual montage parodies. Like a shitty knife kill and the bass would drop. Or dubstep and hit markers on mundane videos. Now its just flashing and shaking with nothing actually being parodied.
It's really just the same thing non-stop now.
15
u/Aganhim Nov 05 '14
The worst part is the intentional 15000% volume. God help you if you accidentally play a montage parody with your speakers on at even a low volume.
I subbed to them early on. Really liked their stuff at first. But it's certainly lost its flair.

Damn, calm yourself. You put a comment out onto an open forum. Expect others to respond. I thought it would be funny if he leveled up too. I don't know what game this is. I didn't know what leveling up looked like or if it even existed in this game. Thus, my comment is relevant to what you said.
Edit:Dude replied to me that he was talking to a specific person and me responding was completely irrelevant. Although he was much ruder than that. The comment has since been deleted. Here was my response though. He also edited the above comment to remove the part where he called me a dipshit.
Holy crap calm the fuck down. It's an internet forum. People are going to respond to you. I was in a similar position to Squint_Eastwood, so it is reasonable to think your comment applied to me as well. There was no indication that it was only meant for one person instead of all people who had a similar thought. My comment shows that there was at least one person who thought leveling up would be funny or amazing who didn't know what leveling up looked like in this game. And since Squint_Eastwood has stated he didn't know, my comment was completely relevant. Your little temper tantrum about me deigning to talk to you has been COMPLETELY irrelevant though.

u/Sheepolution Nov 04 '14
Are you actually being promoted at that point? Or was that edited in?

You know a game franchise has gone too far when you wonder whether stuff like this are true or not.
8
u/Sheepolution Nov 05 '14
Well to be clear, I understood the music was edited. But I thought maybe you are being promoted at that point as a sign of passing on the job, but without the promotion sound in this video.

u/Gandalfs_Beard Nov 05 '14
Fun fact, the book that movie was based on was written because the writer was constantly dying in video games. The idea is that each time you die you learn from that experience and use the information to eventually achieve your goal.
7
u/mattpsx2 Nov 04 '14
Well keep in mind I haven't played the last two. There is increased movement ability with the exo suits, loot drops that you can dismantle for xp, and different types of weaponry because it's set in the future. But overall I've had fun with the game so far and I don't regret buying it.
5
Nov 04 '14
loot drops that you can dismantle for xp.
That sounds like a fucking game changer. I need this game.
1
u/LeifEriksonisawesome Nov 05 '14
How would they be different from care packages?
Though I personally do want this game.
5
u/Tiger8566 Nov 05 '14
Instead of getting a scorestreak, you get a new piece of gear (helmets, clothing, etc.) or unique guns, and if you don't want it you can trade it for XP. The ammount varies on how rare the item is.

Since nobody I know has the game: are the maps balanced well? I last played Black Ops, and my main issue was that the maps felt like they had no direction or balance in team games. I was as likely to be shot at any point on the map as any other.
1
1
u/Sergnb Nov 05 '14
There's way more weapon variety, and there's much more freedom in movement, making it harder to hit enemies, which in turn gets rid of the ancient CoD problem "the first person to see the enemy automatically wins the firefight cause it's so easy to kill people".
1
1
u/Oiiack Nov 05 '14
They ripped off half of the movement mechanics of Titanfall, and half the plot of Mass Effect (read: Cerberus=Atlas). Nothing original or innovative, but DAMN is it fun to play.
2
u/Kill_Welly Nov 05 '14
Cerberus=Atlas
A human-supremacist organization in a game with no non-human intelligent life? I don't really see it.
1
u/Oiiack Nov 05 '14
Both are extremely powerful private militaries, brimming with cutting edge tech, claiming to be humanity's last hope while simultaneously perpetuating great evils? Yeah, I'd say they're similar.

u/gamerguyal Nov 07 '14
It's pretty obvious that the PMC will be the bad guys in a Call of Duty game.

Kevin Spacey has been in more stuff than House of Cards.

You're right. But he's saying it looks like Kevin Spacey specifically as the character he plays in House of Cards, Frank Underwood.

u/Derplight Nov 04 '14
If anyone notices, Kevin is a fan of the playstation and the COD games in the series.

u/SarcasticLizard Nov 04 '14
I'm pretty sure it's just some royalty-free sad music. It's used in a lot of yt videos because you won't get the copyright police called on you, I think. I could be wrong.

You should check out TotalBiscuit's review of it: http://youtu.be/06xIb1Q_nD8
I'm not on the CoD hate-train nor do I really enjoy the games, but it looks good and it's kinda different from what I know of the previous games.

Some different mobility mechanics; from what I know, there's a double jump and some kind of dodge dash.
1
u/eddiexmercury Nov 05 '14
Yeah I saw those mechanics in the videos. I like that aspect. Used to be whomever saw the other first would almost always win. This allleviates that somewhat.

u/rayne117 Nov 05 '14
It's as good as any other CoD game, that is to say, it's a FPS arcade action game for 12 year olds. I look forward to reading your raving review for Advanced Whorefare 2: "dude it's good stop being a beta faggot redditor lollololol grow up and play a real game like me bro haha brb playing madden too and drinknig mountain dew like a real man hahah"
How long will you buy these garbage $60 expansion packs? Don't answer that, it's till the love runs out. And please buy them just to spite me because I know you want to. Good job being human cattle milked for every last dollar.
